the original gamegear, i had one of the ac adapters that never fit correctly which meant it never charged, also to a 6 year old kid the thing felt like it was 40 pounds. it was like a cinderblock with buttons.

I owned an Atari Jaguar. The control pad was the size of a dinner table and contained 800 unique buttons, despite the fact that only about three games were ever released for it.

Oh well, could be worse. At least I didn't invest in an Amiga CD32.

I'm putting my money on Virtual Boy, at least N-gage got multiplayer working well. Or maybe I'm just biased because I'm from Finland.

I thought you said you weren't going to comment on current consoles, and thus wouldn't try to talk about them behind incredibly thin metaphors.
Thin metaphors? How dare you? that was nothing but an innocent prediction.
I offer you my pop corn and you insinuate such things? I revoke the sharing of my popcorn with you good sir, what do you say to that?

Yeah... the first console I had was a playstation one. I was around for the earlier ones but that was the first one I got hold of. You never hear much about the SEGA dreamcast. It can't have been that good. (I assume)

I remember playing the Virtual Boy at Toys 'r' Us a ton. I loved it quite a bit. I just wish I had grabbed one while they were still available.

I guess I never looked at them as a "boy" system; as in a portable. It was something that I would have played as a home console system with virtual 3D graphics and no TV required. It really was gimmicky, but nothing today even offers what the VB did.

Now the Ngage? I've never seen one in real life, but it sounds retarded.

what about the phillips cdi , turbo grafix16 or the neo geo
I wouldn't say that Neo Geo would be bad, seeing that it has classic games (metal slug, king of fighters, raiden), and was succesfull, at least in arcade world. Compared to many other mentioned here, including phillips CDi, Neo Geo was godly.

I know no Next Gen consoles. But, I have to give my award to the 360. I had 9, yes 9, of them in 4 months. So I got out my sledge hammer and that was the end of it.

The Atari Jaguar (and its stupid JaguarCD) is one of the wost consoles ever. Apart from Aliens vs Predator (the original FPS) and Tempest 2000 (woop-de-fraggin'-doo, a fun game, but you must be kidding me), there were only incomplete mortal kombat clones, Fight for Life (a bad Virtua Fighter-like game), Rayman (ok that was great), Bubsy (16-bit era game), and more crap. DooM looked fine, but that's the end of it...

Anyone ever played on a Tiger game.com ? this looked like one of the worst things ever.

I played two games on the N-Gage, I think they were Tomb Raider and Sonic, well it's nothing to write home about, and the first model was not en argonomic phone at all...

The GP32 was quite uninteresting, apart from emulators, Korean untranslated games and demos, what was there to play ? Homebrew ? meh, most of it were half-assed project for contests and nobody gave a crap, plus the analog was imprecise and unsteady... Overpriced too...
GP2X is equally uninteresting to me, but I tried a Genesis emulator, the analog is of a better quality, and it's advertised as a development platform, so well, maybe people will code some fun stuff...

So many strange, unknown consoles out there. I never really liked the PS1 (this was when I was younger) because the control was so weird and practical compared to the Nintendo 64 controller. Also that in the PS version of sarges war everything looks better :/ Young fanboy-ism that is.
