If worst means 'most terrible' or 'that which sucked immesurably' then I would have to hand that award to any named character who died in Halo 3, lets face it...they were trying to jerk tears in their last moments...and failed. Failing that, anyone who died in a Resident Evil where Leon is present, simply because he has an unuseual habbit of screming in their face at the top of his lungs (hoping to bring them back?).

Most horrific...nominations go to: Anyone killed by the viral sniper in RA2-Yuri's revenge (having a disease that makes you explode must be one of the worst ways to die I can think of) and as a runner up (drum roll) pretty much anyone who died in any of the Slatterhouse games (I didn't know Namco had it in them to make something that grusome).

Most emotional deaths...gold medal would have to go to Steve's death in Resi Code Veronica (joy does count as an emotion) silver is reserved for Carmine getting No-scoped in Gears of War (again...humor and laughter technically count as emotions).

i was mad when carmine died...he was kicking a$$ up till that point.

now, how the fuck was he kicking ass? where he dies is kinda, pretty much his first line. but he's in gears 2 anyway so it's not that shocking

Any character I was supposed to 'feel' for. e.g. Anyone in any Final Chore(Fantasy) ever, Lt. Davenport - Ace Combat 5, The bosses in Metal Gear Solid 4. Anyone in any Grand Theft Auto. Ever.

FFV Spoiler
Galuf from FFV.. until you realize Kara gets all his skills and abilities, then you don't care.

Grandia II Spoiler
That being said, I'd have to go with Mareg from Grandia II. He gets clawed and eaten to death by a million different moon insects. Horrible way to go.

Assassin's Creed...Don't get me wrong, I loved sneaking around on the rooftops, hiding in a group of priests (btw...who would seriously not pick you out, you have weapons plastered all over your body.), using the high profile assassination or quietly shanking a doctor/slave trader/What the fuck ever and then. Even the fact that after every time you kill an important figure, you have to get your ass back to the bureau which i can never find anyway. The thing i find annoying is the fact that every time you kill someone important, you have to go through 5 minutes of the SAME FUCKING DIALOGUE AS ALL THE OTHER ONES. Plus every time you assassinate someone new, it seems that you are killing the good guys. I wouldn't say that these deaths are the worst ones, for example I hated the Call of Duty 4 deaths at the end, but i don't think that good old fashioned running around on rooftops and raping the brains out of as many civilians as possible should be clinging to the back of a failing story line and so many fucking missions.
Ladies and gentlemen, someone who didn't "get" Assassins Creed.

Yes, you were meant to feel morally ambivalent about killing those people. They were doing what they believed to be right, and they died for it. They had a cause that seemed more real than yours and even as they lay dying they knew their deaths meant more than yours would if you were to die. I enjoyed their dying rants the first time around, although obviously the replay value meant they got stale.

(THE DARKNESS SPOILERS)
as far as emotional. I'm really gonna have to go with Jenny from the darkness...that was seriously brutal watching her get shot in the head while you pound futilely on the door and the darkness holds you back.

as far as stupid. I'm gonna have to go with what they said about ol wesker, you could tell he wasn't dead since the instant he fell down. lame.

Also I dunno CoD4 wasn't really that emotional for me, When they die it was intense, but I salute them for finally making a war game that doesn't glorify war to the point of making 12 year olds wanna enlist.

Andrew Ryans death in Bioshock was fantastically done. You spend so long gunning for him and then you realise that actually you've been manipulated. Whats worse is, he basically makes you his suicide weapon, furthering this whole idea that you're just an object to him.
I think this was one of the best game plot twists I have ever seen as well. I actually felt the betrayal in my gut when I watched that sequence.

Worst as in most tragic:Eli Vance. Everyone loves the main charecters of Half-Life 2 (except Magnusson, I mean really, what the hell?), so anytime one of them dies/appears dead is a sad occasion.

Worst as in lamest: I was playing Combat Arms (A free FPS similar to Counter-Strike) and I had laid a trio of mines in a closed space. My intent was to lure a few of the enemy team onto the mines, but right after I set the last mine, one of my idiot teammates came in and activated the mines. He was unharmed, due to freindly fire being off, but I died because of suicide...

Many many **SPOILERS!!!**

COD 4...Everyone but you: Honestly? Did kill Zakhaev though:)
MGS...Solid Snake: Yes I'm dead, please stop yelling at me.
Halo 3...Sgt. Johnson: Lame but surprising and anger inducing.
Bioshock...The Guy: Not a real death, just a minor setback.
GTA 4...Roman: Downright depressing. I'll kill that f***ing Russian:mad:

Another rather stupid death was Eddie in SH2.
I usually kill him with the big knife, so I'm there killing him with the biggest sword you can imagine and when he finally falls, James just looks at him and sais: "Eddie?...", as in "How can you be dead"
It was always looks pretty stupid.

Eli in HL and Jenny in The Darkness were the most emotional ones for me. Both extremely well done. And the constant dying of Maria in SH2.

Actually, it's more accurately in the middle of the game and a real turning point in the story so yes, it is a spoiler. However, to anyone who hasn't played it by now, shame on you. You deserved to be spoiled.
