Haven't tryed Fable 1... But beacuse of the latter two Im assumeing they do that same skip around the final boss fight....
And the whole shadow possesing your meantor in Fable 3 wasn't close to a boss fight... You should have been able to kill him, THEN fight the actual beast
Well there are a bunch of obvious ones that got mentioned a million times already, like Bioshock, Assassin's Creed 1, KOTOR 2, Fable 2, etc.
BUT.
Among these games, by far the worst offender was Call of Duty: Black Ops.
So there you are, in the secret Russian submarine base, when you finally come across the big bad Russian. Mason yells at him about how he tried to get him to kill JFK, and Dragovich practically twists his twirly Russian mustache and says "TRIED?" Then you strangle him, and slowly walk out of the sinking submarine or whatever. Then the screen turns white.
Suddenly you're swimming upwards, and Reznov (who you already got rid of, don't forget) is super proud of you. Once you reach the surface, you are greeted with the most bullshit I have ever seen. The U.S. navy is just chilling up there, and a bunch of jets fly by. The whole time, a giant American flag is covering like half of the screen. Here are some examples of some endings that would have had the exact same effect:
1) A giant football field filled with naked cheerleaders cheering "U.S.A is the best!"
2) Mason gives a thumbs up and fireworks and the American flag pops out of his thumbs.
3) An image of Uncle Sam fucking Stalin in the butt.
Did you by any chance download Broken Steel before getting to that part?
KoTOR 2 long post is long:
As for KoTOR 2, the problem was that it was the sequel to a Bioware game. So of course, people would expect a cool final battle level with decent pacing and an epic boss fight at the end (or a terminator ripoff... whatever). Obsidian on the other hand aren't really into that sort of thing. Obsidian are all about dialogue, dialogue and walls of text, especially so with KoTOR 2, because it's basically elements of Planescape Torment copy pasted into the Star Wars universe (this is, in my opinion, a good thing). So when the game got rushed, they cut out all the unnecessary dialogue on Malachor V (i.e. party member interaction and cutscenes), something which they are good at, and left in the waves of combat, something which they are bad at. But I don't really agree when people say that Sion is boring or annoying. Sion is physically invincible like the Nameless One, so you just use the "what can change the nature of a man?" logic bomb to kill his belief in himself. It's actually pretty nice if you read it thoroughly.
Kreia on the other hand is really disappointing. Throughout the rest of the game she is brilliant, malicious and manipulative, but at the end, it's never really made clear what she wants to do. She says she wants to "kill The Force" and then goes in cryptic Jedi circles by saying that "perhaps these are just the words of an old woman who has come to despise what she relies upon". The ending itself, even if the rest of the game was intact, makes no sense at all. ESPECIALLY the Dark Side ending, which was just plain shit, and no amount of modding or reassurance can fix that. Which is a shame, because the rest of the game had some fantastic themes.
WHAT!? what do you mean unsatisfying? you fight a 5 story psychic monster then are treated to an amazing cutsceen where you finally get to hear g-man speak?!? and then a Hobsons choice about going on to the sequel ?!?!?!? how can that be unsatisfied???!?!?
granted its 13 years old now but come on! that was fantastic ending!
and ya, kotor 2 and front lines fuel of war were fairly disappointing.
Radiata Stories, the ending after siding with the humans (No idea what the other ending is like)
Jack (The main character) discovers that Lucian is actually the Silver Dragon, one of two (The other being gold) that are responsible for perpetuating a cycle which results in Humanity essentially being destroyed and 'reset' after their advance too quickly for the rest of the world. Jack confronts Lucian, kills him, saves the world. Yay!
Oh no, he doesn't. Just as Jack arrives Lucian saves the world for him. It turns out that he has become incredible sympathetic towards humans and no longer finds it right to kill them just because they advance quickly. He does this by waiting for the Gold Dragon to occupy the body of its designated host, a girl named Riddley, and killing them both.
Jack then kills Lucian out of rage for killing Riddley. Why? Good question. In the human path they barely had enough time together to be considered friends, especially since Riddley spent most of the time being incredibly abrasive and then defecting over to the side of the elves.
So it ends with Jack having killed an incredibly ancient and powerful being, that saved humanity, over a character nobody likes. Yay.
Oh people have played it, it's just that no sane person would suffer that through to the end.
And Kane and Lynch 2, I wouldn't even call it an ending, the game just stopped. And I welcomed it.
Modern Warfare 2: There's a war between the US, who lost one of their top military leaders, and Russian Federation, who are now on the defensive it seems. Meanwhile, Afghanistan seems to have to deal with all the insurgents on it's own after the probable withdrawal caused by the Russian invasion, and a mass murdering terrorist is still on the loose. Now let's see how short they can make this sequel.

ME2 - the end boss fight, so incredibly silly. "Assuming direct control" - ya I had to remind you!
And one of the guys on my party dies... because?... well someone had to die for drama.
While I'll freely admit that ending was an insult to all life currently living on this planet I also feel obligated to tell you that there is a mod that puts all of the cut content back in and makes the game so much better.
OT: Prince of Persia reboot, Oblivion, Fallout 3 originally had a bad ending, Fable 2 and Fable 3 and Of course KoTOR 2.
Edit: Oh and I forgot Bloodwings: Pumpkinhead's Revenge! Wow that was fucking terrible. Seriously look it up on youtube or better yet go to Spoony's website.
I don't really finish many games, so I don't have much to choose from. The first Assassin's Creed... I can't actually remember how that ended. AC2 didn't really end properly at all, whereas AC:B made me openly shout "hang on, no wait WHAT WHY DID YOU DO THAT" at the screen... not so much a bad ending but it annoyed me for some reason.
Zaitsev doesn't really get killed and is working for an unnamed puppet master. Hillary Clinton shoots herself and there's probably a war between Russia and the US. So.. you stopped the WMD, but you didn't really accomplish that much. And there are no plans for a sequel. What the fuck.
