Bubble Bobble for the nes you play though all the levels by yourself beat the final boss only to be told to go play it all over again with a friend to get the real ending.

Well I probably don't remember the worst, so I'll just name a couple in memory.

Borderlands, all that vault searching and build up, then it turns out to be a blob monster which you haveto defeat, and you do so by holding down the trigger for a couple of minutes, the end... as*holes!

ME2 - the end boss fight, so incredibly silly. "Assuming direct control" - ya I had to remind you!
And one of the guys on my party dies... because?... well someone had to die for drama.

Fable 2/3, there isn't much to say, the games are just going down a hill and the endings give the whole bad package a nice wrapper

Half Life 2 - WHERE IS THE DAMN ENDING EPISODE!

I would have to say Bioshock. The Andrew Ryan part (You know the one, when he has a lovely game of golf and everything is swell) would have made a great ending with the realisation that your character is brainwashed. But no, they made me have that stupid final fight with lots of stupidness. Seriously, it was the easiest fucking boss ever. Electric Gel = FINISHED!

Divinity II

Everything you did, either for good or for evil was orchestrated in its entirety by the bad guy. And then you get to spend eternity frozen in time alongside everyone else that was there before you doing exactly the same thing. And also failing.

Condemned 2 would win because of how series-destroying it is in my mind. Without being too specific, it turns a dark, realistic survival horror with metaphorical demons into a game about conspiracies, super powers and literal demons. Horrible waste of a game, killed a series way before it's time.

However, Fable 3 is a close second. There's a massive build up, impressively done, but when it hits you're left with a feeling of 'wait, THAT was it?' It's horribly anticlimactic, far too easy, ruins a high-potential arc and dismisses your efforts throughout the whole game, even the ones that logically should have come back into play. It just screamed of a last-minute effort, and honestly ruined an otherwise satisfactory game for me, and most people I know.
Fable 2 was disappointing, but I didn't feel so utterly ripped off since that ending at least seemed thought out.

I'm gonna go with Bioshock.
So much wasted potential in the final part of that game.
It's almost as if all the good writers had left and the remaining ones had to throw something together at the last minute to pad out the game for another few hours because someone higher up complained about it not being long enough.

The Two Worlds 2 ending...All that work you put in and you don't even get any from the hot Orc chick. The game just ends after she pulls that shit batman does when he just vanishes and the main character is left looking like a fool. The rest of the game wasn't that bad to tell the truth.

Look, there are some bad endings in the game t hat seriously leave you like, "what the fuck, it wasn't a good ending! I didn't get to fuck (insert chick's name here) or you made me look stupid or useless"

But Prince of Persia BEATS THE CAKE. PERIOD.

There is no other game that does this:

Hi player, please sit through 20 hours of gameplay plus achievement whoring. In this story this chick's father releases this evil to ress his daughter. She happens to be with you on this journey. So you finally seal the evil, but she dies to do so. Then, at the end you release the evil force again to resurrect her. By the way, YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO COMPLETELY CONTROL YOUR CHARACTER WHILE YOU DO THIS AND SINGLE-HANDEDLY RESET THE ENTIRE STORY OF THE GAME WHILE THE CREDITS ROLL. Congratulations, player. You just found out you could've beaten the game by NOT PLAYING IT.

Like many other people above said, Fallout 3 pre-Broken Steel, Fable 2 and 3. I don't need to really explain though, people have done that for me above.

Dead Space 2, only not. :D

No but Fable 2 definitely takes the cake,

Your Mindset: "Ready for an insane boss fight?"
You: "HELL YEAH!"
Game: "Too bad, here's a music box."
You: "FUUUUUUUUUUUU-"

Throwing some RPGs in there I hate how Wild Arms 3 & 4 ended.

They never find a cure for her and she dies? Are you serious? And there's nothing that you could do to save the mom either? WEAK!

I also don't have any plans on picking up Persona 3 either. Cuz... you know...

The ending is soooooooo bad

It's like everything you worked for is taken away from you because the main character is really really dumb
I'm to go with this too but not because "derp I can't live anymore, must save herp derp" *screw everything up*. I can live with the prince's decision even if it was kinda stupid and I think he shoulda manned up and accepted fate. I even like the way they presented the decision in the end and forced the player's hand. What I don't like is that due to Ubisoft not finding the new POP interesting enough, they may never make a sequel meaning that the game ends on a cliffhanger! Screw you, you dirty french developers! (I kid, I kid, Ubisoft isn't all dirty Frenchmen: it's a whole multicultural group of dirty people!)

Has no one here played Clive Barker's Jericho? That is easily the worst ending ever...if you can even call it that.
I agree, which is why you shouldn't include cliffhangers because chances are nobody will like the game and you won't be able to make a sequel. And it was pretty stupid anyways.

Also:
Assasins Creed: I did all of that just for that to happen?
F.E.A.R. 2: Warner Brothers, why would you do this? You guys are perverts.
Silent Hill: Homecoming: Wait, that's a twist? I figured that out within the first 7 minutes of the game!
The Doom novels. Just read a plot synopsis. You'll wish you hadn't from the amount of stupidity poured into the ending.

Second the ME2 boss fight. GREAT ending up until that point, then you're all Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Over?

But the dying NPCs, I can live with that. Heck, I think more should die-- the entire game, everyone talks about how they probably won't survive.

Kotor 2.... It's so bad I don't even want to explain, man... UGH.
I once spent about half an hour explaining to my friends exactly how the dark side ending was the worst ending I've ever seen. KOTOR 2 was rushed out to coincide with the release of one of the prequels, so a ton of stuff was unfinished. It could have been so much better.

Not sure if ANYONE other than me has played the game, I've never encountered anyone who has but, for me the worst Ending of all time came from a great Game that was released at roughly the same time as the first Fable game.

The game was Sudeki, an action RPG that should have redefined the genre, multi character control during battles, high speed fun combat system, skill and strategy based boss battles, the game was awesome and looked pretty good for it's time, despite it's 'unique' art style.

However the ending was the most horrible thing I've ever encountered, you play through the game having fun get to the half way point, oh I'm sorry I mean the part right before the final battle, you face off against the last boss in an epic and difficult final boss fight, there is a cool cut scene of him being taken down for good and...... A brief poem is said one shadow puppet pushes over another and credit's roll! I shit you not!! One shadown puppet pushes over the other and game over, that's it nothing is resolved for any characters you don't get any closure about ANYTHING, nope, two fucking puppets one knocks over the other and credits.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2hUQpw01b4&feature=related Proof of this BS.
