Without a shadow of a doubt: STALKER - shadow of Chernobyl. It makes you fight thru dozens of ridiculously overpowered military elites which are always behind cover when you are in the open and then all you get for beating them is a pile of rubble sitting on top of you. And I played on easy so I dread to think what they can do on hard.
You do know that you got one of the bad endings?

right im just going to miss out those anoying arse text ending screens in old games for now.

persona 3 portable

seriously your character just falls asleap with no explination, no you do not know that he is dead (explained in the freaking ps2 expansion) he just casually falls asleep, so yeh all i could assume is that he died of exhaustion, or just fell asleap like a lazy prick.) (note i played this before i knew about the ps2 versions add on so yeh i was well within my rights to be fecked off.) On a side note i hated that game to begin with so i may be somewhat biased.

hrmm...I know everyone beat me to it, but...Fable 2. Seriously. I tore through that game and then suddenly...Reaver kills the big boss for me. I was like...really?

For just sheer lack of quality, Superman 64. But...as far as let downs are concerned...La Mulana. Holy SHIT, the stuff we had to go through to get it, and all we get is a relatively unimaginative escape scene then credit roll.

That is of course if we exclude the final boss from being counted as part of the ending. THAT was good.

Don't know about worst, Enslaved was pretty naff though. It just sort of stopped playing and became a narrative. Game Over. Not a great piece of story telling either - it was just wierd like a bad Stephen King novel (boy does he have no idea on how to end a great story).

Kotor 2.... It's so bad I don't even want to explain, man... UGH.
It wasn't just the ending. Honestly, if they had some more time or something it wouldn't have been so god awful, but no. Lucas arts rushed them and ended up with a pile of half completed shit.

oh it's not the worst ever, but it's right up there! (and I'm ashamed to say it's one of my favourite games... then again I have about a million mods for it!)

Enslaved pissed me off.

The game starts off about 2 characters, and that was what's interesting. The other stuff was just to fill in some context, and yet 3/4 of the way through (and introducing Pigsy halfway through was a mistake) it just shifts completely, the character arcs are left unresolved and it tries to get all fucking philosophical.

And the question it asks isn't even in the slightest bit original.

There's a difference between a bad ending and a very good cliff hangar.

Fable 2, Then Fable 3...

Haven't tryed Fable 1... But beacuse of the latter two Im assumeing they do that same skip around the final boss fight....

And the whole shadow possesing your meantor in Fable 3 wasn't close to a boss fight... You should have been able to kill him, THEN fight the actual beast :p
Fable 1 actually had an amazing boss fight, specially lost chapters. I would recoment Lost Chapters so much, you wont be dissapointed with the last boss fight

Mass effect 2 has a terrible last boss fight. After playing through the last section which pleased me immensly I am confronted with an awful boss fight. Totally unsatisfying

Fable II.
No question. I'm still awaiting my final boss fight with Lucien.
I don't count having Reaver shoot him for me as a boss fight.

I have to say the original Bioshock. You get to the end and have to fight a statue straight out of Atlus Shrugged. >_>

But I'm glad Bioshock 2 fixed that. The ending was amazing in that one.

Borderlands was pretty bad. After the "ending" i reloaded a previous save because i thought the game was glitched.

Another pretty bad ending is the one from earth 2160.
Earth is pretty much destroyed and some People have found a nice Planet to live on. This Planet has some hibernating creatures, which are evil and woken up by the evil mad doctor. At the end of the game, some interdimensional Portal comes up, which will bring new aliens, maybe evil ones, maybe good ones. A cutscene is shown which has this portal activating and then...
cut to end credits.
