League of Legends.

The most angry, immature, petulant community I have ever had the misfortune of being exposed to.
Ive had minimal issues with the LOL community, but i guess thats just sheer dumb luck on my part. I always start off the game cordially, and maintain civility and a kind manner throughout the game, which leads me to run into friendly people more often i guess. Now if only we could do more to assfuck players than report them.... Perhaps a thumb down system that requires you state a reason? And you can have them negated if you can show to some authority that the down thumbs you did get were due to some asshat who thinks you are just a bad player, and thumbed you down for not devolving into a shouting match with him, but just told him to shut up.
That could be useful, so the honor system doesnt wind up with people with thumbs just by nature of playing so horrifically long as to acquire enough to be technically good.

I've never played League of Legends, but this was my feeling when I played DOTA for a while in my Warcraft 3 days. In fact, it's pretty much why I don't play LOL.
you actually managed to get into a game of dota with warcraft 3?

assholes kicked me because i needed to download the map, so they didn't want a new guy and didnt give me a chance to so much as say hi. Elitist fuckers.
and yeah i know now i could have gotten the map 3rd party and snuck in, but i didnt at the time because i was but a wee boy.

I enjoy the moba genre though. I have a ton of fun with League of Legends, but i am always cordial and inviting to new people. I never ever want to be the elitists that wouldnt even let me try the damn game.

AND HOW THE HELL IS SNUCK FLAGGED RED FOR BAD SPELLING BUT WEE IS NOT?

Did you just implicitly advocate close-mindedness?

OT: I'd talk about my time at the Nexus when the nudie mod threads rolled around and/or the Bioware Social Network when the Tali's Sweat Analysis began to exist, but you want coherent explanations, not endless screaming.

In real world sure be open minded, on topics about games I find that 40k inqusition rules seem to apply( well on the internet at least) :p.

The FGC.

When I was younger, I went to a small arcade in PA. Dad gave me some quarters to go play a few games. I saw a MvC machine and decided to try it out cause I saw Megaman on it. After a match against the CPU(which I lost, first time playing the game) this big guy comes up to me and says I have to play him to continue playing there. I lost. Horribly. Then I was told to leave and don't come back, him and his friends kept making sure I couldn't reenter. I told my dad about it and we just left. Then years later I found out that was common in arcades cause of that arcade mentality or whatever.

Then years later I decided to rent SF4. I played it for awhile then tried it online. Lost again and got a message from my opponent saying I should have my hands broken for losing. Returned the game and never really played another one of those things again.
What does FGC and McV stand for? I'm interested in what this might be.

World of Warcraft. The only game where EVERYBODY expects you to have gear 3 tiers above whatever your doing and if your missing one piece just ONE piece you get flamed to shit by the entire group / raid. And you have to have cleared the place and know everything to even be considered getting an invite, yet you can't learn because no one ever invites you. Want to join a raid guild? you have to be fully decked out in raid gear from the raid in question. The stupidity!

I have a decent one with DotA. I got into the beta to play with a friend, I had never played the game myself, but he said it was fun and he had recommended some decent games. I started my first round, ready to beta test and figure out how to play the game. 10 minutes into the first day of the beta of what was essentially a tutorial I was told to uninstall, not by one guy, but the entire team. I said no to that game, I will not play a game that has people claiming to be pros that has also not been released. Also I no longer take online gaming advice from him.

Rainbow Six: Vegas (Xbox).

Let me be clear. I like online multiplayer games. The competition can be fun, Vegas in particular had some great ideas in it, and overall i just find competitive online multiplayer a hoot and a half.

However, I loathe talking on the mic. Like...I absolutely despise it. The headset is uncomfortable, the quality of sound that comes out of it and directly into my ear is either too loud or some sort of alien static, and to be quite frank, no one says anything worth a damn on it, so its not like im going to respond to them.

But when Vegas came out and I decided to hop into online, every time i joined a match without my headset plugged in, i was immediately booted. Sometimes I'd hear them say through the TV "Hey, get your mic on". Fine, i'd think. Let me just reach over and-- booted. Splendid.

Oh, but the best part? On the odd chance that I did enter a match with my mic and survived the Kick Player button? No one said a damned thing on the mic. Just...silence. Just an uncomfortable piece of plastic over my head keeping me tethered to this silent match.

So let me end with this.
On a PC: Dedicated Servers? Let's stick with that, it works.
On a console? PLEASE GOD DON'T REMOVE MATCHMAKING.

I like Steam's service as much as the next PC gamer, but declaring an undying love for what is essentially a distribution platform is...unhealthy.

Unless it's GOG.com.

And my credibility plummets pavementwards.

wheeeee.

Actually, speaking of Steam; some of the stuff written in the new discussion things and the game hubs is...urgh. It's not offensive or important, but it does cause mass eye-rolling, that's for sure.

"A open mind is like a fortress with its gates I barred and unguarded " that's the actual 40k quote from the random men quotes in the daw 1 games

Believe it or not, there was a time when people hadn't started doing that yet. I actually stopped playing around the time that started because it was such horseshit. I wasn't the best DOTA player out there because I really only played it casually for a while, but at one point the map was updated, I didn't have the most recent version (despite having played maybe around 50 games or so before that) and I got kicked every time I tried to join a game and the download started. When I realized what was happening I gave up on the community for good and never looked back. I had no interest in finding the map somewhere else just to play with a bunch of assholes.

Most Moba games. I also really hate the mentality of gamers in the fighting game community, where everything is justified so long you win. People would only play characters with the highest chance to win with the least amount of effort. Not even trying to learn basis mechanics that require some skill, because They already win with their retarded way of playing.

I was playing Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for awhile offline with friend (who you can bash when they are being dicks). So of course I wanted to test my reasonable skill online. What I find are people who plays in such basic ways that they are just being illogical and are breaking the flow of the game. They aren't doing any combo's or proper techniques, they are just bashing. While playing with characters that have some flashy moves that also break the flow and are hard to understand, because of an animation that flies all over the screen. The thing that really made me stop bothering with online was the teams I saw (TTT2 is a 2 man team game), besides having much of those filled with the most easiest characters, some were so sad to clone their own team. At that point you are not even trying to get better, you found your piss easy character and thought you were so clever by taking the same character again, because learning 2 characters is sooooo hard.

And this is not exclusive to TTT2, this happens in all fighting games. Just taking the easy way out so you could have that false sense of being good. Well in truth you are worthless, which is clearly showed when someone knows what you are up to and just rips you apart, which then is followed by a message that you left, because seeing the lose screen is something you can't handle.

Yeah...

Me and my friends run a moderately sized Minecraft server. The idiots we get who feel entitled because they donate money to the server. We dubbed them the Shiny Kids.(likee shiny objects) and its a shame that I have to end up banning them for being dicks to other players

As much as I want to say League of Legends... It's not, the people who I get the worst experiences with are the people who complain about the most trivial shit in games and don't understand what the hell 'fun' means.

The ending in Mass Effect 3 was bad, however you still enjoyed the rest of the game. You claim you hated the rest of the game anyway? Then you probably hated 1 and 2 as well, or you're lying and you're trying to convince yourself that the ending wasn't the only thing that was bad.
That game sucked from the first second to the last second. Bad shooting, weak story, and one of the worst villains of all time. And I had some fun with ME2. It was ok. But ME3 was abysmal. And I find the "Lying to yourself" thing to be insulting.
