HotshotGG is, in my opinion, the largest problem with LoL. There is no one who deserves a good right hook more.

What makes it worse is that using Elo for a team-game causes him to be high-as-a-kite in solo que, which to me, is a failing of the system.

For example, Westrice, who plays Akali in high tier games is a good example of someone who probably shouldn't be there. He doesn't do anything REALLY special with Akali, he picks up kills, snowballs. Kinda the standard Akali play.

But if I'm in ranked and someone says "I'm going to pick a Melee-AP champ, who should I pick?"

Sion, Leblanc, Kassadin are all FAR better choices bringing more to the team.

The system is broken and it gives a lot of players a bad example of what to play like.
I agree. If there is ever a HoN vs. LoL discussion, I'll say "Well, at least HoN doesn't have HotshotQQ".

Anyway, I agree with pretty much everything you said.

The only LoL stream I enjoy watching is SYDTKO. He used to stream HoN, and I kinda followed him over to LoL. It's not as fun watching LoL though, I dunno why. I like playing it a lot, but watching it is a snoozefest IMO.

The Twilight fans who won't shut up about how it's the best thing ever. Fair enough, Twilight was good, New Moon was shit and Eclipse was ok, but still. I haven't read Breaking Dawn (yes read... like books) but I think I've read enough to realise that it's not the best thing to ever grace this planet.
If I may save you the trouble, i thought Breaking Dawn was horrible. I really want to tell you why but it would be a huge spoiler in my opinion. The books were mediocre, but the hype about them is a little beyond the scope of what I feel it should be.

Grassy, while not a stream, is a lot of fun to watch.

It's a kids game, stop trying to force people to play it like we're all 30 year olds with nothing better to do than beating other 30 year olds on a game for bloody 7 year olds.
You realize that nobody forces you to take part in the competitive aspect of the games, right?
I'd rather you'd post the whole message so people get the full context of the message. Anyway, it's annoying when I've met up at tournaments and people have berated six year olds because they haven't got an "elite" team. They're children and these guys literally scold and criticize them because they don't play like them.

And be honest with yourself, who really plays Pokemon JUST for catching and trading them all... well now anyway xD
I play Pokemon just to catch and trade. Occasionally I battle my friend, who then destroys me with his "elite team" that took him about 3 months of non-stop breeding to get. I still find it fun though.
Let me help you with this; Dragonite, Dragonite, Dragonite, Dragonite, Dragonite, Dragonite.

Sonic fanbase hands down. There is literally NOTHING that other fanbases can do to be worse than the modern day Sonic fanbase. You can argue MLP and Invader Zim fans are just as bad. You are more than welcome to contest that they could even be worse. You would still be wrong, but you're more than welcome to try.

Invader Zim would be overlooked today, but back when it aired, it was considered ground-breaking and it would finally put Nick up on top, kicking CN off of its pedestal. It did lolrandumb humor better than damn near anything out at the moment. It was spastic, coming in without warning and ending just as quickly. The acting and tone made it even better, switching between calm dialog and elliptic fits of nonsensical yelling, with the cast acting as if it was completely normal. The art, animation, and coloring were mind-blowing for a children's show. It is probably the last truly great cartoon from Nickelodeon (sorry Avatar fans, but the finale really screwed the pooch).

Friendship is Magic was the show that girls SHOULD have been getting for three decades. The characters and their chemistry was what made the show. They all weren't a bunch of Mary-Sues or damsels in distress, nor were they all buddy-buddy with each other. While the show doesn't have the most fleshed-out cast, it serves as a very solid template of how shows aimed at an "unprofitable" demographic should be done so it can transcend negative labels. If at least that much is learned from the show by future producers, writers, directors, etc. we could have another golden age in animation within the next five or ten years.

Sonic, however has had far more bad than good at this point in time. It hasn't had a game that would be looked back upon as a "classic" since the launch of the Dreamcast. It has introduced new character after new character that none of the fans from the Genesis era liked. The games has time and time again lost sight of its original routes, and when they do try to go back to the basics, they STILL manage to fuck it up. The Sonic series has been the biggest laughingstock in the video game world for over a decade. They're like a band that ruled the world in the 80s, but haven't made even so much as a passable album since then.

Even if the fanbases of Zim and FiM are shit, the shows aren't. Sonic has NOTHING left to justify the base.

The Fallout fanbase is in a state of constant war that has little hope of changing, ironically enough. You either have the veteran fans who insult Bethesda for committing the cardinal sin of making a first-person, semi-real time game, or you have the people who dismiss the older games out of hand simply because they're old. The veteran fans are worse, in my opinion, probably because they've been engaging in flame wars for ten years now and they've gotten really good at it.
I always feel bad that i came in to Fallout when it turned into an FPS and i know for a fact right now i could go up to Best Buy and get both 1 and 2 for a total of 20 bucks but i am too afraid that i wont like the games. Does that make sense?
Don't worry too much about it mate. I came into Fallout by the ways of Fallout 3, knowing nothing of the series but being magically drawn in by the lunch box collector's edition(of which the bobble head was a great little feature^^). Loved it, researched it, and was just itching to play the first two(being a huge fan of isometric RPG's) and loved them too. But it's completely rational to be uncertain whether you will enjoy the first two, because they are SO incredibly different to what followed. So do what I did : download a pirated version, try them out, then buy a proper version if you enjoyed the experience.

The League of Legends community. Guess why I stopped playing.
I actually made a thread here about how bad the LoL community was a few months ago. Seriously, if I didn't play with IRL friends all the time I would have quit a long time ago.
I don't have any IRL friends playing LoL, and it was hard to make friends, so I went back to Heroes of Newerth. I can't believe I actually like this community better, seeing as it is horrid. But I guess that goes for the entire DotA genre.
I've always heard HoN has an even worse community. But yeah, you are totally right. For whatever reason the DoTA genre (if it can be called that at this point) has the most hostile player-base I have ever been a part of.
HoN had a worse community, until recently (or, the last five-six months), when LoL became insanely popular. Now it's a cesspool of bad manners, basically. I won't turn this into a LoL vs. HoN discussion, since I like both games, but in my experience, the LoL community is worse nowadays. Pretty sad, because it was alright when I started playing, when the game wasn't HUGE.
The sad part is, despite all the money and popularity LoL has received, Riot still can't manage to act like a professional company. I like the devs well enough, but the business-end is handled very poorly. That may have something to do with why LoL is full of whining brats... that and the fact that its F2P. XP

I'm with this guy. Sure each fanbase has it's less than appealing members, some more than others, but the fanbase is never fully composed of these others. So I don't condemn the innocents with the guilty. I'll judge them on an individual basis.

...Other fanbases I hate are the fans of American extremist news (both Stephen Colbert and Glen Beck) who let them do the thinking for them...
Just wanted to point out that Stephen Colbert is a satire of guys like Glen Beck. I doubt he actually believes stuff like that. I would think you would catch that seeing as the Stephen Colbert Report is on Comedy Central.

Colbert's thinly-veiled satire is easily identifiable, and that makes his extreme Left Wing perspective stick in the mind of Leftists who let him do all of the thinking for them with his sarcastic tone.

I really hate it when people think I'm an idiot when, in fact, they're misreading what I said.
Eh, I just figure he's making fun of the extreme right-wingers like Glen Beck or Bill O'Rily. You can mock one side without supporting the other.

And I never said you were an idiot. Just thought you misread him. It seems I misread you instead.

The funny thing is that Colbert and Stewart are rather fair in the sense that they have a satirical take on news as a whole, not with such a pronounced bias. The problem is, however, that many of their fans around the world, mostly young people from 15-25, allow the satire of the Right-Wing news outlets to form their entire opinion. Many young people look down their nose at Conservatives or, in America's case, Republicans, and see them as just as biased a caricature as Beck's fans se Liberals/Socialists.

And although you seem smart enough, I can tell that this applies to you as well, for as soon as I typed "extremist news" and mentioned Glen Beck, your mind jumped straight to Right-Wingers being the extremists.

Hey, I know that there are Left-wing extremist just as there are Right-wing extremists. I never said that all extremists are right-wing. The only reason why I focused on the Right rather than the Left (as if they could be so easily grouped...) was because Glen Beck is conservative and the Stephen Colbert Report is a satire of right-wing news shows, which were the two examples you gave. Hence Right-Wing Extremists were foremost in my mind rather than Left-Wing Extremists.

I do agree that most people don't really bother to actually find out what the Right actually believes before they start bashing them though. I'll admit I don't know a huge amount about what different conservatives believe, but I try to avoid criticizing them about it due to said ignorance.

That's one of my problems with it too. With all those microtransactions, LoL is basically printing money for them, but they are still struggling with the servers and whatnot. I mean, sure, it takes some time to adjust, but this is bordering stupid right now.

Looks like half of these posts in this topic are more "I hate fans of this things that I hate because I hate it" rather than "I hate these fans because they are fucking annoying."

That said, I am a Sonic fan (big time since I was a kid), but I have stopped talking about Sonic and his games with anyone because everybody falls into one of two categories: The Sonic haters "OHHHH WHY DOESN'T SEGA JUST KILL HIM ALREADY ALL HIS GAMES SUCK AND HE'LL NEVER COME BACK FROM THIS!!!!" No, that's not true. Sure, he's had a run of bad games, but the portable titles were always decent, Sonic 4 is doing well, and Unleashed's day stages were pretty awesome. Sonic Colors expanded on those stages and was praised by most. Then there are the Sonic fanatics "NOOOOOO YER LYING I LURVED EVERY SONIC GAME EVER PEOPLE WHO CRITICIZE HIS GAMES JUST NEVER LIKED HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE!" Also not true. Well, maybe some people are like that, but nobody can really deny that Sonic had a bad, bad, BAD run of games since the Dreamcast days and has only recently started to get any better. Denying that Sonic games have flaws, especially glaring ones, just hurts the series as a whole, and far more than any harsh criticism would. You love Sonic, I get it, but you aren't doing him any favors. Shut up.

So yea, both of those people are extremely annoying, and I've met only a few people in the real world or the internet who aren't either.

In fact, I hereby take back everything I said in my last comment, in favour of ranting about the religious types. They are the true, worst fanbase ever. If you don't believe exactly what I believe you're going to be eternally punished whilst on Earth; then in death when you think you are safe you will have no choice but to retreat into the fiery pits of purgatory. The preachers - you know who I mean. Yes we accept you believe in a (or multiple) God(s), and that you have some sort of 'higher calling'; but that doesn't mean you have to force it down our throats! I'm no atheist, and I'm open to the possibility of these things existing and maybe even being true; but we made our decision not to follow a religion, just as you probably made yours to follow one, so be as accepting of us as we are of you if you please. Anyway, rant over, I just genuinely do NOT like people who do that.

Yeah but it's not due to a visit that I don't like them, it's the fact that they can't keep themselves to themselves, also they act like it's some exclusive members only club when it's really just the cesspit of the internet. (Once again, referring to /b/ & /v/ in general, don't know much about the other ones so can't comment on them)

I actually might be able to explain where the hatred for foreigners on X-Box Live started. Not sure if you've been on X-Box live pre 360, but back in the old X-Box days when X-Box Live first started it was setup very different There wasn't as many servers and the network was not as robust as it is today. The way you created an account was also different. X-Box Live had several different regions where I'm guessing their server farms were located. There was East Coast USA, West Coast USA, Midwest, etc. A European region was added later.

When you were creating an account you could pick a region. X Box live advised you to pick the region closest to where you lived to ensure you had the best lag. The thing was, you could pick any region you wanted regardless of where you lived. If for example you lived in Europe you could still pick the West Coast USA region and play on the West Coast servers. The problem was whenever someone did that it would make any game they join on that server slow to a crawl.

I was playing on the East Coast USA region. Whenever someone with a European accent would join in a game the game would become laggy as hell. And this was serious lag. This was hardcore lag. This lag did not fuck around as we say. Nine times out of ten the reason for major lag was because somebody in Europe was playing on an American server. This understandably annoyed a lot of people. The thinking was "why is this European asshole lagging up the American servers when there are perfectly good European servers he can use?"

There was a big gap between X-Box and X-Box 360 where I wasn't on X-Box Live but it seems like those issues have been largely corrected. X-Box Live has improved matchmaking and you're no longer allowed to pick a region of servers to play on. You instead just select whatever country you live in. Granted if people in different countries try to play together in the same game it will lag but not nearly as bad as it did in the old days. Yet I keep hearing that lots of Americans are still giving foreigners a hard time on X-Box live. I'm guessing that even though the server issues were fixed the hatred towards foreigners still continued out of tradition.

I'm not 100% sure if that's the reason why but I'm pretty sure it is.
This wasn't really the case though. I can understand your point and do. But this was when I literally joined a pregame lobby for a highrise round on MW2 and these 2 kids instantly started giving me aggro before I had finished loading in. They sounded too young to have been around in the xbox classic days to have been subject to the above reasoning.

Reality is some people are just tragic bastards with big mouths who hide behind their monitor.
I also made sure to include a UK example of abuse in the COD fan base as well to make a point of not raging on the USA as I have met a lot of really decent American games. Oddly enough most of the nice ones reside on L4D 1&2, I met some black American dudes (you can tell from their voices and way they speak awesomely enough) on Gears of war 1&2 and they were also really funny and chilled out guys, great to game with.

Just seems to be the wannabe baby gangsta hardmen in the COD games who haven't hit puberty yet that have the issues.

On behalf of all normal Americans that play games to have fun and arent asshole douchebags I am sorry.

OT: I'm gonna say its between CoD or Battlefield and Twilight or Justin Bieber.

Battlefield and CoD are locked in massive and close Douche off to see who's got a bigger amount of hate and poison in their fan base.

Twilight and Bieber are trying to see who can turn a large portion of males into homicidal maniacs fastest.
Again man, its not all Americans. I encounter just as many English douches in COD games which is why when I play Black Ops to kill some time until my friends come on so we can play Bad Company 2 together I usually sit in a party with someone in my friends list to avoid hearing them play their chav music, cussing each other and generally talking with the IQ of a brain damaged rock.

I do, sadly, have to disagree with you on the BF suggestion. Whenever I've played it on my own and talking in-game chat I've had nothing but pleasant conversations with decent gamers from around the world.

I know this isn't exactly on topic and I'm not making a racial slur. Just want to ask.

Has anyone else noticed the sudden MASSIVE surge in french players these days?
When I'm on Black ops on those rare occasions where I listen to in game chat), TF2 or just about any other massively played online game I have found that the UK / American player base seems to have peeled away into mostly french players. Not an objection as I have no beef with them. It's just the sudden surge in their numbers that caught me off guard.
