It's fine if you've established a connection with them first, and in that case...probably a movie like Legion would be the worst. xD
I know at least 2 girls who'd absolutely love to go to a flick like Legion for a date. And that's the only kind of girl I'd ever consider dating. Ya don't like a good helping of violence and war? Away with you!

So yeah, depends on the girl. But if a girl would want to take me to one of those torture porn flicks like Hostel or Saw or even a regular slasher I'd kindly refuse.

I can watch almost anything and have some sort of a good time, but please keep that stuff away from me.

Romantic movies. If a guy would take me on a date to some generic romantic-comedy i'd feel the urge to just kick him where it hurts and leave him with box of tissues so he can cry along with Hugh Grant or whatever the current actor of the genre is.
I'd rather go see The White Ribbon than such crap.

But yeah that's me. I'm apparently weird. Best cinema date would be in my eyes an old, actual movie theatre, not a big multiplex in some shiny mall, where they play classics or movies that never got to be blockbusters.

Pixar films are usually great to watch as they are cute and pretty to watch and have great stories without being too hardcore. However, don't use "Up", it just makes them cry, a lot!

I went to watch Whiteout with a girl, in all fairness though the film was so bad we spent the whole time talking but still - didn't get anywhere...

one film that always seems to yield results is Pulp Fiction, which always surprises me =P

OT: Schindlers List.

I'd have to say the movie Teeth. Look it up on IMDB and you'll find out why it would be bad to watch on a date.

Inception, coz there's a hard choice. Awesome movie that you need to pay attention to, or hot chick you're on a date with.

Any date/chick movie where the main chick in question dates a guy but realises she really loves some random friend dude she never "noticed" before.

Made that mistake once.........once

Just about every movie Sergio Leone ever made, where the most famous are "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "A Fistful of Dollars". Girls are not supposed to enjoy them in any kind of way, at all. They are real manly movies for men, created by a man.
And they're long and slow too, which is hard for girls because they don't have the brain to concentrate for too long. Just kidding, ladies, of course.

But they aren't made for you, that's for sure.

grave of the fireflies, you both would end up crying.. : p anything really old in black and white also wouldn't make for good date movies.. <.< also movies in languages both you and her don't understand, or a language only you understand..

A Clockwork Orange (I actually recommended this to a couple who asked for a good date movie at Wal-Mart. They must not have heard of it because they apparently seemed to want to find it. I don't know what happened to them next, but it still makes me laugh).
You evil person! lol.

OT: Good movies, but not "date movies": Watchmen. Way too slow-paced and long. American History X also comes to mind. I would think Caligula too.

Also on an off note: Your partners probably wont understand the greatness that is "Meet the..." Videos from Tf2, So don't bother showing them. Learnt that from experience.

I wouldn't call it weird so much as intruiging and interesting. The only sad part is I can never FIND these old movie theaters where I'm looknig, and I've checked quite a fewe places in Montreal. I suppose that;s the issue you face with living next to the down town core.

To be honest movies on first dates don't really do much for me. I would much rather have dinner, and walk in a nice setting, or see an independant play that hasn't gained much notice. I see no point in the stereotypical movie setting.

That could be appropriate if you both wanted to spice up your sex life.

OT:

The Room... Inappropriate in every way possible unless you both like laughing at people.

In which case, Fighting.

That film is so bad it is terrible.

Calumon: Does the date like Digimon?
I'm going to see Digimon: The Movie with next time I bring a girl to a date! :D
Sadly, my dad threw away the VHS with the movie on it yesterday :(
*cries*

Worst film would probably be something by the lines of Braindead (Dead Alive blah blah.) or maybe Evil Dead. Though the films are awesome, there are people who don't like films like that.

There was this movie called blackout or something about three people stuck in an elevator and one of them turns out to be a psycho, in one of the scenes in that movie it shows a flashback of the psycho character taking a woman to his apartment and then proceeding to slice her up, beautiful, I know.

Anyways, I think for me personally that would be the worst movie to take a girl on a date to see because I know I wouldn't be able to stop myself from turning to her with a knowing smile during that scene just as a joke because I know i'd probably make her think im a psycho.

If a girl doesn't dig my movie choice, I'll just talk to her friend.

I usually watch something silly like 'Pokemon: The Movie' or 'The Land Before Time'.

If the girl sticks around and keeps interests, she's a keeper.
