I can't decide between Far Cry 2 and Wolfenstein.
They felt like they both came out of an generic-ego-shooter-creator, just to be textured with sand and filled with respawning black people or textured with swastikas and filled with respawning germans.
Same goes for Crysis, but with better sand-textures and non-respawning north-koreans.

Prince of Persia, the newest one. Repetitive collecting, repetitive levels, unlikeable characters, no plot, dreadful combat, no challenge, you use no skill in anything, you can't fail at anything, the prince doesn't ever learn any new tricks or moves, weak flow, you do the same thing for every level, you fight the same bosses again and again and are exactly the same as before.

There was nothing good about it at all. Absolutely nothing and I'm not exaggerating. There really isn't.

Oh god this. Had wondered what this game was like after seeing it in stores a few times (heavily reduced) so ended up downloading the demo over xbl.

After playing for about 2 minutes all that was going through my mind was 'what the fuck were they thinking when they made this?!'.

Edit: Or Farcry2, absolutely hated its repetitive pseudo-sandbox gameplay yet tried to force myself to complete it for a sense of closure. The game then bugged before the last mission and stopped me from getting any further, rage ensued.
The worst part though is that I've got 2 copies of it.

resident evil 5.

not because of the racism, it was just soooooo painful to walk at half a kilometre an hour (that's .805 MpH), the shoot is to stop walking, aim slowley, fire slowley. i also ran out of ammo very quickly, kept dieing on the first group of bad guys, then promptly traded it in.

At least that had an original idea and setting...

Anyway: I vote for

Is that a real game?

No, really. Tell me that doesn't exist.

*googles*

Oh God. What the hell. I vote for that being the worst, and I haven't even played it. Just *shudder*

But there is only two movies? How does that work?

Simpsons Hit and Run is pretty horrid. It was a sloppy, overated mess of a game. If that's not modern enough for you I would have to say The Lord of The Rings Battle for Middle Earth 2 for xbox360.
On the PC it was a good game but because he xbox version was a pretty much direct port from the PC the control was painful (literally hurt your hands to play). They crammed the controls into A button, B button and the left control stick. This stupid control format relegated the strategy to nothing more than build mass units and tell them all to attack one spot.

I would have to say Stalker(The first one).Picked it up at the steam sale for 2.30 or something euros.I really dont understand why people praise the game so much, the plot isnt even there, the gameplay is horrible,i didnt get into it.Stopped playing after 2 hours.

Anyone can make a hastily thrown together bug-ridden piece of garbage. It's when they sell that things get interesting.
The real question is what game has the worst Quality/sales ratio. Or if you are into that, quality/popularity.

Well theres worst and there's worst. And eh how do define 'Modern Day' as?

Since people are also naming games they just hate, I'd like to nominate Final Fantasy VII for having completely awful story, characters and graphics.

If I had to say actual worst that I can remember I'd say Age of Pirates II. That game managed to stay interesting for a whole 10 seconds or so, the tutorial already being a piece of crap. Shame cause it's not like there wasn't any potential either, it had a lot to do it's just that everything was excecuted very shitty.

i recently bought ninety nine nights cause phantagram made it and i remember them making the kingdom under fire games. so i figured it would be just as good. only played it twice and have to switch it off after half an hour everytime cause its so repetitive.

Jet Ion GP

it's a OS2 racing game that's so utterly bad, it's unbelievable.
the graphics give you a headache, the controls are bad, etc. etc.
the only thing that could be called slightly good is the plane design, but there's only like 10 models.

Well considering the plot and action dont really get started until you've left the first area, 2 hours isnt nearly enough to enjoy it.

Got that thinking it would be a sort of fantasy version of Dynasty Warriors. It wasnt, bad times were had.
