Probably Burnout paradise. I never liked how they made it freeworld and more like a hybrid of racing simulator and arcade racing.
NO, NO. YOU LOOSE! Btw can you bring the damn thing to... ehm, work tomorrow?
I need to borrow it.

Worst Purchase: Mirror's Edge (too short, 49$ wasted)
2nd Worst Purchase: Far Cry 2 (repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition ...)

Terminator: Salvation.

The North American PC retail version was unplayable out of the box. With users unable to install the game the publisher had to recall and replace all North American DVD's of the game.

I personally loved Far Cry 2, I don't see whats wrong with it.

OT: Of the games I have bought, probably the new Star Ocean.
The voice actors and characters made me laugh out loud because they were so terrible, there were too many cut scenes, and not enough save points. Horrible.

COD 4, who's popularity, which is only derived from the fact that it isn't Halo, which has gone too mainstream these days for most of the maladjusted misanthropes of online gaming, fails to compensate for the horrendously designed campaign (with AI taken straight from space invaders) and impuslive multiplayer.

COD 4 is too good to be anywere near worst game of the year. I think everyone is thinking of games they just generally dislike.

Rise of the Argonauts would probably have to be the worst game I bought

Overlord 2 would have to be my biggest let down

Dead Space would have to be the worst game I played overall. (Its just not my game, okay?)

Call of Duty; World at War but not for the reasons here mostly quoted: it's just a boring shooter with realistic tendencies and from the start it is stereotypical just like all their other CoDs.

Imho, Brother in Arms won their little duel with gusto.

What above me said about the Argonauts flop is also true.

CoD WaW. Mainly because Activison is such a money whore that it absolutely has to have a sequel every year, and outsources the odd ones to Treyarch, who ruins them!

Too Humen.

Not enough of er.. everything. Nothing worked. Unskipable Valkyrie cutscenes. Terrible voice- and motionacting. Pretty lame graphics.

Nice to see that 4 pages of people have played games that they more than likely didn't read any reviews on. Right now THQ, Activision and all the rest are laughing at us.

Sims doesn't count, as it's not really a game. It's playing house.

My vote goes for Too Human, and I only played the demo. I'm sure there's some horrendous sports game out there that's worse, and we really shouldn't count shovelware, but Too Human was so bad I would turn off the TV and pick up a book whenever someone else entered the room. I was too embarassed to play the demo for a few hours.

I don't understand the Farcry hate. I loved that game, it was like going on safari. For humans. Maybe everyone was expecting a heavily scripted Blood Diamond knockoff, but as bad as the first game's story was, I'm glad they opted to not have one. The AI wasn't deadly effective, but they were realistic. Guys would work in teams to flush you out of the bushes, and run from the fight when injured, sometimes stealing your vehicle. I guess it depends which you value more in a game: story or gameplay. Although that game did have a massive glitch that corrupts ALL your savefiles. And only happens once you've done more than 80%. So that's a good reason not to play.

And anybody that says Fallout is trolling.

Sims puts itself on the shelf as a game and even though it is basically real life boringness in a computer it deserves 'the worst game of the year' title.
