There hasn't been an unequivocally bad game for quite a while now. Big Rigs set the standard quite high, or low. If I had to say one, I'd go for....actually I can't think of any. Oh well.

EDIT: Oh wait, Stalin Vs. Martians, that game was brain poison.

I cant believe I bought it. I think I had cabin fever, but the nerd version.

Sorry but that sounded so authentic then. Saying you had nerd fever and your avatar together. Anyone gonna dominate any DS games? Surely there is some that deserve a mention.

Dose Mirror's Edge fit in that range? If so, then Mirror's Edge. If not, then Mirror's Edge anyway.
Mirror's Edge was a 2008 release I believe so I'd say it counts. Mirror's Edge had potential and it was pretty in it's own way but it just didn't do anything for me.

Alone in the Dark ... I only played the demo so I have no idea if the rest of the game was any more playable but from the demo, I get the impression that the main character is a legally blind old man with polio questing for his walker or at least a decent cane. Who else would control so horribly?

I don't own a Wii or have any friends who own one so I can't even crack open THAT [supposed] septic tank.

As for the Nintendo DS: Dark Spire. I couldn't get into it but I can understand that older gamers could. My Japanese Coach isn't technically a game but I have played it and have not yet had a significant breakthrough with my sporadic Japanese language educational pursuits.

As for the PSP ... Too easy. It would be easier to say that God of War was good and leave it at that [though to be honest, I never played unchained. I played Crisis Core and watched Gackt take another franchise under his wing] I was curious about Dissidia but not curious enough to re-purchase a PSP

The Sims isn't really a game for most guys. I think if you're a dude, you're not the target audience. It's like saying RomComs or kids movies are the worst movies-they weren't trying to please us (I'm going out on a limb and assuming most of the posters here are male), so our opinions don't really count. My girlfriend loved that game, and my sister at least enjoyed it. Case in point: women don't find phrases like "nugget of turd" funny, but I thought it was freaking hilarious.

I may be acting sexist, but do any lady gamers out there want to prove me wrong and say how much they hated Sims? Or loved "Nugget of Turd"?

Games are meant to be made for as many target audiences as possible so by saying this game is for girls gets rid of 50% of the audience just like that.

Worst game I paid for an played that was released in the last two years? hmmm.... I'm gonna have to say Spore. I am very picky about what game I buy and this one I let my guard down.

Also the worst game I ever paid for and played will have to be Breed. It was so bad I was laughing by the main menu and crying by the second level.

Marketing to specific demographics is key. It's not that they're excluding half the market base, it's that they will have a monopoly on the other half. It's almost impossible to create something with universal appeal. Is there anything that you've never heard anyone say they don't like? So when people create any entertainment, they create it with an audience in mind. I'm sure there are guys that like the Sims, and I'm sure there are girls who hate it. But the majority share of any demographic is where the money is.

it´s fear2 for me. i rented it, played it for a few hours and found it so boring i returned it the same day. no game was such a bummer to me. except maybe fallout3. it was a let down because it was only okay to me, not great how i wanted it to be.

EDIT: forgot resident evil5. so crappy i even forgot i played it. that first level says it all. just survive long enough and your on to the next has got nothing to do with game design. making you run the area in circles for five minutes is just stupid. also this game gave a new grade of overall ridicoulesness to the general resident evil storyline. resident evil is officially dead to me since then.

Data Design Interactive's whole library. Those would be the worst games of the year if they came out in the 80's.

Risen, because I was so hyped for finally getting a Gothic-style RPG on my X-Box, and I only recently found out the Console version isn't out yet.

Any great PS3-exclusive: I don't have a PS3.

And, as usual, any game that tries to sell based on tits alone.
