Worst game you've ever played?

I usually do some research before I get the game, so I didn't have honors so far to experience true horrors of really bad games, but...

This isn't a bad game by all respects, it is just worst I've personally played but 'Braid' is the only game that I really wish to delete from my Steam library.

Gameplay-wise it was "The Void" because controls there are just frustrating but the world itself was so unusual and memorable that I can't say it was the worst game.
Ending-wise it was 'The Testament of Sherlock Holmes" (yes, it overdid even 'Mass Effect 3' to me). Most convoluted/out of character/out of story ending ever in my personal experience.

Dark Souls.

Just a cavalcade of broke-ass design and completely wrong headed approaches to difficulty. I wouldn't have put this here, but the sheer number of people who like this game and rush to rabid defense of it just makes me hate it and everything it stands for.
I can somewhat agree. Mostly in that, it's not the holy grail of old-school style challenge. Some get more out of the game then others, and I'm ok with that.

Comparatively, Dark Souls has very few damage sponge enemies and the great majority of the ones that are in the game are enemies that don't respawn once you've killed them.
Eh. Dark Souls definitely has some padding. Honestly, it's just a different type of sponge. By no means is it a bad game, but it'd be very short if the mechanics were changed. It's a think n' slash, rather than a hack n' slash.

Anyway, worst game I've played? Probably Unlimited Saga.

This utter abomination is by far and away the worst game I have ever played.

Borrowed it from a friend, and all I can say is that I pity anyone who had to work on this incredible pile of shite.

Then there's the game I'm most disappointed in its' terrible-ness.

As someone who is quite the big Sonic fan, nothing hurts more than this game. The opinions on some of the other games vary wildly, but everyone is in agreement that this is absolutely horrid, and the single redeeming quality of the game is its' music.

And yet, for some reason I played it to 100% completion.

So yeah, in comparison, I have to chuckle at some of the other answers given here.

That's being a little disingenuous though. The mechanics are what make it the game it is; That's like saying Metal Gear would be a much faster paced franchise if it were hack&slash instead of stealth-action.

I don't disagree that it has a certain amount of padding and that it otherwise would be quite short, but it compensates for it by how heavily it encourages exploration in my opinion. Some might consider that to be padding in itself, but different strokes for different folks.

Congratulations.I think you're the first person in this thread to list a legitimately terrible game

And this thread is filled with games that are nowhere near the "worst game ever" and closer to "I didn't like it". If Dark Souls or Black Ops 2 is the worst game you have ever played then you are really lucky or really young. I've played Superman 64 and I've played E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. My vote goes to Supes.
Happens every time someone starts one of these threads.I'm just amazed no-one had mentioned Dragon Age 2 yet

OT:Rise of the Robots.I honestly cannot think of a single redeeming factor that piece of shit had
well nowadays kids are spoiled :p they cant see the difference in a really bad game and in games that they dont like em cause of personal preference and taste.
as of superman 64 a friend of mine bought it for n64 man this game sucked so much even for 12 years ago standarts

Not a real game, but the technical demo for Steven Segal: The Final Option is mind boggling-ly awful. For a full release, gotta give a second vote to Rise of the Robots. That's like everything wrong with the industry all rolled up into one steamy pile. The development was so focused on creating high quality screen shots to market the thing with, that there wasn't enough memory on the cart to store the level of animations you'd normally need in a beat-em-up. So you got this totally bland game with very few characters, each having only a handful of abilities. No room for any kind of style in the gameplay. Just boring, clunky, slow and nonsensical button-mashing.

MySims Party (I don't know why, don't ask), Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi, and Bubsy 3D. I'd nominate Superman 64, but I actually had a bit of fun trying to see how much I could break it, so I guess that makes it so bad, it's good. I try to avoid bad games when possible, so I don't have many games to choose from. I've played a lot of movie-based games, but those were mostly just mediocre.

I know a lot of shit games but usually I know they are shit so I wont play them but there are a few where I genuinely had at least some hopes which were shattered.
So in no particular order
Serious Sam 2- it's just bad all over, bad gameplay, bad story, bad jokes, bad everything.
C&C 4- rushed and short, also bad everything.
Rage- unfocused and a lot of wasted potential.

- There were a couple of Resident Evil lightgun games.
- Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero for the Xbox360.
- The Bouncer was pretty shit, yet oddly enjoyable in that "not too bad for a launch game" sort of way.

I'm sure there's worse games I played, but I probably displaced them from my memory.

I have beaten this game and I am not proud of it. It's the worst game I have ever played. Luckily I only spent 2 dollars on it at a yard sale. I am shocked that the Angry Videogame nerd hasn't covered it yet.

You can literally just walk forward and beat it. Fuck this game.

Interesting that exactly what you thought would happen, did, and within the first few posts. It's like the fanatics of this game have some anti-defamation team patrolling every website looking for slights. They remind me of rabid Apple Jihadists.

On Topic: I would go a bit earlier and say Demon's Souls, that game was just awful, not the worst game I have ever played though. Probably Gears of Snore, was so terrible, all the chest high walls and macho mutant circus clown characters, whole thing really even affected how I view other Epic games. Halo 2 was pretty awful as well, hard to choose with the likes of Duke Nukem: Forever and Aliens: Colonial Marines also on my list.

Omitting anything I've randomly come across on KongregateArmorgamesNotdoppler, I usually gather some information about games so I don't happen to find myself playing something truly horrible. What I sometimes can't forsee is the wedontgiveadamn crappiness of PC ports:

Saints Row 2 and
Resident Evil 4

are clearly the winners in this category.

Honorable mention to "The Club"

Call of Duty Black Ops.
Oh, I'm not a true gamer because I listed THIS? instead of Superman 64 or The Justin Bieber Facial Experience for Kinect? Well, I'm sorry if I hate unlikeable, cliched characters with no development, a cock and bull story, broken promises made at launch (alternate ammo, a story that treads the line between good and evil)the most linear campaign ever made with NO chance for going where YOU want, terribly balanced multiplayer, too many weapons for it's length so they just throw them in wherever they can so they get SOME screentime, best example being the Python, in something I like to call "FPS ADHD Armoury Syndrome, and, although I'm probably alone in this, Zombies mode just didn't seem as fun as it did in WaW.
If THAT isn't a bad game, I DON"T WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS!!!

Hydrophobia: Prophecy, I couldn't get past the fist section due to glitches. I even had to replay the opening scene before you even get on the boat 3 times before it would work and what I did play of it had awkward clunky controls.

The Void is and interesting concept but unfortunately it isn't a fun game.

This one. This son of a ***** right here.

I have done this so many times before that its not even funny anymore, but basically, I have yet to find a game that manages to somehow beat Dragon Age: Origins in terms or boredoom, dullness, uninteresting, repetitive, or anything at all. This game is just... wow. Its my nemesis of videogames. A virus. Holy freaking hell, I try my best but I really CANT think of a game thats worse than this... thing.

And before you all go "WOW retard theres so much worse games there than DA", read the title again please.

"Worst game you've ever played?"
"Worst game YOU've ever played?"

YOU. WEll, in this case ME. I do honestly belive than DA has been the worst game I have ever played based on what I said previously. Are there other games that are worse in the THECNICALL aspect (Pardon my broken english)? Probably. We have stuff such as Sonic 2006, ET, Superman, Big Rigs and the like. But, to me, those games at least did something: They are fun BECAUSE they are so broken as all hell, and some of them actually have SOME good stuff in them, minuscule as it may be (Sonic´s soundtrack, Big rigs hilarious bugs like reverse speed and getting out of the world, etc). Not counting the also hilarious lets plays and videos and the like.

Dragon Age? Well...No... I dont have a single good thing to say about it.

The worst thing ever made in terms of being an actual game:

Holy shit balls this is awful:

Sonic 06 always seems to be a popular choice. I've always wanted to play it out of curiosity to see if it's really that bad.
