I love people on this thread. Most people are like SKYRIM and MW3 or BATTLEFIELD.

And i shant deny its FINE to say these games dont appeal to you. But the WORST game of the year? You mean if someone made a game this year called "lets paint with human waste" it would STILL be the WORST game of the year? What we are actually debating is, whats the worst of the huge releases. Lets at least get that right.

Duke Nukem i think takes the cake for being the worlds biggest let down.

Rage - So boring, texture pop-in was horrendous a really meh game.

Dragon Age 2 - Such a disappointment.

Deus Ex - never really played a game I was really hyped for then after playing for about an hour you catch yourself thinking "This is shit...." and you quickly try to shut it up by going, "No! it's Deus Ex, it's great!" But no, it really is shit and I really regret buying the collectors edition.

Assassins Creed: Revelations - "Can I have the exact same game as the last one but with tedious Assassin management subgame and bombs please?" I must have played it for about 45 minutes and just thought it was bland and repetitve.

Oh, how can I forget MW3? I played and actually enjoyed the second one for what it was, didn't really touch the multiplayer, but like I said, thought number two was enjoyable. The third however... it's like they just swapped the levels about with the second. I didn't replay MW2 much but when I was playing the Africa level in number three, well, the similarities with the Favella level were a little too much. I stopped playing when my team and I got split up and I correctly guessed that we'd have to sprint the rest of the level seperated, exactly like in the favella in the second.

Thanks to the beauty of game journalism; I haven't played any bad games at all :)

although I've heard Thor: God of Thunder is pretty shitty, and so are the Kinect fitness games

Whilst none of the games I've played have really sucked, The Witcher2 was a little dissapointing.

One game that I won't be playing any time soon will be Dragon Age 2 I watched my flat mate play it and was less than impressed.

I actually didn't hate Duke Nukem Forever, though I was dissapointed in it. Then again, all of the early 2011 shooters disappointed me. (Crysis 2, Brink, KZ3, Bulletstorm, Red Faction: Armageddon, etc.)

The worst game of 2011 for me is... Mindjack. OH GOD, MINDJACK! Trust me, Yahtzee was right on the ball here. Absolutely godawful in every respect, and I'm not sure if it's better for people to remember it as one of the worst of 2011 or to forget it, because, well, it sucks.

Non-existant AI, terrible gunplay, what-were-they thinking boss fights, bland art style, bad graphics, chin-chewingly bad story, a poorly conceived gimmick, and simply terrible design choices. I honestly can't think of one good thing to say about it. Holy shit.

Honorable mentions: (Didn't play these, but I did my research) Bodycount, Venetica, The First Templar, Thor, Harry Potter DH2, Call of Juarez: The Cartel, Cursed Crusade

For me the most disappointing games I played were Arkham City (too short), and Crysis 2 (lost everything that made the first game great, too linear, annoying bosses) but they were still excellent games.

Dragon Age 2 looks poo though.

Crysis 2, the graphics were great but the story bored the hell out of me, and the multi player was a weird mixture of Halo and CoD that didn't appeal in the slightest

Wait a minute The Old Republic hasnt even been released yet, why did they give an unreleased game the "Sawing off you own dick" award?
Probably cause it was supposed to be out this year

Homefront looked like garbage but I haven't played that one yet so, it's safe...for now. Dragon Age 2 wasn't terrible but I feel like it lied to me. You remember how people hated Zelda 2 because it was a side-scroller? I feel like Dragon Age 2 had a similar problem. The original Dragon Age and, DAO: Awakening were both role-playing games of immense depth. Dragon Age 2 was a beat-em-up of great depth. I also think Dead Rising: Case West was completely unnecessary. Why place a Dead Rising game in a warehouse where your main opponents are armed, secret-police/military types?

Honestly though, I haven't been able to keep up with many of 2011's games. I'll make sure to bombard the forums with threads about this year's games at some point in mid 2012 when I'm missing out on those...

I played that in the form of a demo...yeah...it was just...not very good. It was like they tried mixing the original with Guerrilla...and adding literal bugs.

I'll have to say Bodycount. Never got past the demo which made me mad I even wasted the HDD space to download it for free. One of those games I wasn't just content to dislike; I really wanted to contact the devs and demand answers. Epic terrible.

First thing that comes to mind: DNF

However the Wii has had some AMAZING shovelware this year, just check out metacritic to see what I mean. I know the system is pretty much DEAD, but...daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaym.

Also:
Anyone played the Voltron demo on PS3?
Talk about a game that misses the point and craps on the series worse than anything Micheal Bay has done to TransFormers...

Every shooter that involved either aliens or modern-combat that came out this year ever.

Unless Bulletstorm came out this year, I enjoyed that.

Also, to the OP: Tell your friend to get his own material. I read the Shark Knight review; really? Really? One sentence in and it was copypasta'd material.

EDIT: Special place for Skyrim, which for all it's undeniable hype failed to distract from the crappy control scheme and unresponsive keyboard actions on a higher-end PC, and spiraled downhill into the delete-from-PC key.

I'm honestly scrolling down waiting to find someone claim one of those games are terrible, but no one has really claimed any of those yet.

Now going off this, the worst game that I actually invested some time in that was a big release would probably be LA Noire. I played the entire game before realizing that I really didn't like it.

These games aren't bad per say, they are just the ones I least liked playing this year.
1. Hyperdimension Neptunia
2. Record of Agarest War Zero (not a bad game, it was just a really good year)
3. Dragon Age 2 (same as above)
I really wanted to like Hyperdimension Neptunia too, it's just that it has flaws that are so strange that it makes me question my own sanity. Why would they have a chance mechanic built into whether your character will use an item? Am I supposed to be playing as the characters' impulse control? I know I've probably made a thousand posts about this, but it still baffles me.

What where they thinking! this is game is boring, no really feedback from my weapons when i shoot, bad story and generic enemies.
Duke is bad but nowhere near my top 20 worst game ever.

My worst game of the year goes to Red Faction: Armageddon. I went into it thinking "Hey! It's like Red Faction: Guerilla meets Doom, awesome!" but then I got bundled into linear corridors, repetitive enemies, boring weapons and one of the worst plots this year that had me literally shouting "BULLSHIT!" at my TV screen. The best thing I could say is that the ability to blow up every building you saw was still there but unfortunately it now spread so that Rocket Launchers take out the floor you're standing on (which now leads to death instead of a harsh bump on martian rock) and the tightness of the caves didn't allow for bridge-blowing skyscraper-smashing fun that I got with RF:G.

Special note goes to Duke Nukem Forever which wasn't as bad as it was more of an overwhelming disappointment. I'm glad that Gearbox managed to release it and put the jokes to rest but unfortunately Duke Nukem was the only thing that saved this game for me. After re-playing Borderlands I know that Gearbox are better than this and that DNF was largely made of 3D Realms' regurgitated table scraps with Gearbox just mixing the strands together to make it somewhat presentable, playable and comprehensable. If Gearbox do make another Duke game from scratch (which I hope they do) then I'm sure they can bring back all the fun and action that made Duke Nukem 3D so great to begin with and can just call DNF a mistake.
