I purchased a regular Xbox 2 weeks before the release of the 360. I went to sell it and guess what: 20 bucks.

Letting my friend talk me into starting a character in Shaiya.

After many years of being MMORPG free I finally succumbed and I only did it cause I had a little crush on her... now she's moved on and I'm still stuck addicted to this game.

Farkin addictive mother-bleeping piece of shaite grrrrrr.... I'm gonna hurl my computer out the damn window.

That has to top them all. I traded my ps2 in for an xbox. I've always secretly resented that I did that a little but I really enjoyed the box while I had it so I can't complain too much

While not entirely a gaming mistake I bought two Nvidia 8600GTS cards only to find out that less than three weeks later the 8800GT released and were being offered at the exact same price that I payed for the 8600GT model.
Then come to find out after having bought Windows Vista Ultimate to shelf until at least the first service pack was released; the Nvidia drivers for 64bit systems were even more unstable than the 32bit versions and were still incredibly prone to the (Error NVKDLM display driver has stopped responding) problem.

I still have a nice gaming system but it's running XP64 instead of the overpriced Vista I decided to "adopt" early.

I'm not the one who did it, but my friend did. He purchased a 360 for the sole purpose of playing DMC4. I feel bad for him, but I can't help but laugh at it.

I was a total fan of the old-school game Populous... an absolutely awsome "god" simulator. When Molineux announced B&W he repeattedly touted it as the next-gen Populous... I definitely fell for the marketting only to end up playing this horrible mess...

Then Molineux did Fable... and again hyped himself up to excessiveness before release only to be disappointed with the product yet again...

I'm sorry, but Molineux is dead to me. DEAD TO ME!! I HAVE NO SON!

I sold an N64 with ten games, a Saturn with 20 and a Megadrive with 40 to get some money to go on holiday once. Some great games and consoles gone for the sake of spending a couple of weeks in Spain with my Dad and bloody Stepmum. What a waste. Got it all back in the end though I guess.

Buying WoW, out of the thought that it would be better playing it with friends...

Nope, initial impression was on the dot...
I lost contact with a few friends... but I'll stick with my kind of MMO from now on...

Here's the kicker, my girlfriend wants me to play WoW with her now >.<.

The things we do for love? lol I'm in the same boat. My boyfriend has decided leave Cities (where we both play) and go back to WoW and wants me to join. That's a big fat "no" from me.

I always rent games before I buy them, but I have to say, that I hated my self for renting the Spiderman 3 game, it surprised me, because the Spiderman 2 video game was actually good, I got blindsided by that one.

Oh oh oh! Lousy's comment makes me remember a great videogaming mistake I made.

So back when I was a teenager, I got my first summer job and saved up money to buy my first console. At the time it was between the Sega Genesis and the Turbographix 16... I don't remember wth I was thinking but I went with the turbographix and just hated myself as it slowly died and all the great games came out for Sega... bah.

I stupidly sold my N64 just before Goldeneye came out. As a result I never got to play the game along with many other classics.

I still wait in vain hope that someday it will appear either on XBL or Virtual Console, but I am not holding my breath.

Buying Theme Park for the DS.

I was blinded by the nostalgia of the old SNES one I played, instead I got a game where despite there being signposts EVERYWHERE, people still got lost, and that annoying help guy/gal popped up every 5 seconds to tell me they were lost.

Most of my gaming mistakes have actually been buying GBA or DS versions of old games I liked, only to find time has not handled them well, or they just aren't like I remember. Damn you rose tinted specs!
