Probably the single silliest decision I've ever made regarding a video game was a couple years ago when I spent entirely too much money on a Spectral Tiger mount for WoW. I've managed to convince myself that it wasn't a total waste of money, but I must admit that it's not all that useful.

For a more recent, significantly less silly, gaming decision, it would probably be purchasing the Gentleman Cho'gath skin for League of Legends. It's freaking awesome, but cost roughly thrice the cost of the average hero in the game.

Throwing out my Commodore 64 and my awe-inspiring catalog of games.

You heard me.

THREW IT OUT!!!

These are games that will never see the light of day again!

I shall miss you Aztec.

I mean some of the game were also on NES but the C64 ports were better in every way :(

Buying the Wii and anything for it(later sold it, so happy I did, only thing truly worth it was No More Heroes)
Buying Wet (was fun for the most part but the end just ruined the entire thing)
Buying God of War 3...not a bad game, just a pretty big let down really
Buying Prototype...that was a pretty big let down too. Just felt like a like variation of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and the varying didn't make it worthwhile....

That's all I can think of right now...when it comes to this stuff its like when someone asks my favorite band, suddenly my mind goes blank...

Pre-ordering Too Human. But just buying it, mark you, pre-ordering it. Don't think I'll ever live that one down.

buying too human... that game was practically an insult to anyone with brain functions above that of a blade of grass. i played that "game" for about 15 minutes, and then cried myself to sleep
Did anyone other than me watch the previews for this game? They LOOKED like shit!

Call of Duty: Finest Hour for the PS2. Wasn't nearly as good as Big Red One or 3, and didn't have the hilarity factor of Medal of Honor: Frontline.

Falling for the Hype and Pre-ordering Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. That game was such a terrible letdown that it shattered my faith in games and turned me into a cynic. Before release I expected it to be the best thing such sliced bread, reinvigorating the Star Wars franchise and introducing amazing new technologies to games. I ended up taking it back in a day and exchanging it for Mass Effect.

I don't regret the trade, even though my graphics card is incompatible with Mass Effect and as a result I can't play it.

That's how disappointing TFU was.

Buying a "60GB PS3" on Ebay.
The "s are there because it was in fact an 80GB PS3 and not nearly worth what I spent thanks to it not having the backwards compatibility.

Buying Dark Sector day one... Not remotely near worth 60 bucks.

On the bright side, I have yet to buy a bad game since then; I've definitly learned my lesson.
ooooh man I've done that one, unfortunately I've bought a bad game here and there, though i'm much wiser about it, and I usually onyl go out on a limb if they are 30 or less so I think I've lost less in 2-3 bad game decisons over the one for dark sector, definitely not worth the 60 on that

Selling Psychonauts for ONE dollar back when I was too young to understand how brilliant was.

Thankfully, i've absolved myself by paying $15 on the XBL Marketplace to play it, and I would have GLADLY paid more.

Uggghhhh, I really don't like thinking about this. To go into full detail would take more time then I'm willing to spend on this, so I'll keep it brief. Long story short, I sold a bunch of classic PS1 and N64 games at EB Games for $60. Half of that went toward one of the worst games I've ever played. [http://www.gamespot.com/gba/action/starwarsepisode2aotc/review.html] I can't remember what I spent the other half on. It seems like it either went toward one of the Zelda Oracle games, or Super Mario Advance 2. So if I remember that part right, at least the other half wasn't wasted.
