Speaking of exploiting the game to get hilariously pathetic adversaries, have you ever cast an aoe levitate (magnitude - 1) spell at a group of enemies? First time I did it I nearly cried laughing.
Despite hundreds of hours, no, I must try it sometime.

My fave is casting a long and powerful levitate on ordinators in vivec and watching them slowly walk up to the skies, then the levitate falls, and well. All I can say is it reminds me of a certain scrolls of icarian flight.

Ordinators deserve such treatment. Those guys are vengeful pricks D:

The ironic thing is that their masks are said to be nerevars face. I love the transition from being called a heathen to reluctant god. As well as just being able to tell people you killed vivec and alm in tribunal and have them flip out at you.

i'm surprised no one has talked about battlefield 2's hit detection it was terrible the MEC's special forces rifles AK-74U would literally not hit anything

I love how Vivec says, "Someday you may need to kill me too." I can't help it, I always have to kill him after he says that. :p

I was playing a sniper level in Cod 4, when I shot the mission target perfectly in the head but the game bugged out and it hit his arm instead...

Fucking unacceptable, Infinity Ward.

I was playing me some good ol' Turok Evolution many years ago, and found myself at a part (in this one level where you have to infiltrate a kind of high-tech enemy base) where I was in control of a turret with a sleg troop down-field in what was literally a firing range. So naturally I let fly with the lead, and not only did he not seem to react, but he didn't bloody die! It was very odd...

Read Part 1 and my head is spinning. Going to start Part 2 and hope my brain doesn't melt.

It does help to have a pre-understanding of the subject, expecially with Chim.

Not really hit detection, but it can get annoying when you line up a shot, only to have the bullet/arrow/whatever hit an invisible wall or invisible piece of scenery.
Alerts the enemies, and ruins my stealth, just great.
This happens in several games.
Ugh, that keeps happening to me in Skyrim when I try sniping bandits from the top of their lair. Hate that.

Also, a few times in Oblivion I would have enemies run up to me with arrows sticking out of the air next to their head rather than their head itself. Fun times.

I felt the same way during the DB recruitment quest in Skyrim. When the prisoner in the middle screams "RELEASE ME!" and I've got a Woodcutter's Axe in my hands...what else am I supposed to do?

Soldier of Fortune: Payback. Just play it, it really cannot be described. Sometimes it's like enemies are invincible and have secret weakspots. And when that starts happening it just gets more and more frequent, and when you do actually hit them they either completely explode or radgoll off into space.
It would be entertaining if it weren't for the fact it made the game impossible to play.

I think I got a decent grasp of CHIM from part 3. Holy shit man, I will never think of Vivec the same way ever again. My mind has imploded.

Happened to me in Dark Souls a little.

Discounting COD, not too many problems. Including COD, I have been known to shoot randomly into the sky and kill an enemy jumping down from a walkway behind me.

Welcome to the world of true TES Lore.

The rabbit hole goes rather deep.

Anyone remember the bulletproof leaves on the roof of a building (the rio map I beleive) on MW2? You could shoot people through walls, but through the leaves of a palm tree? Hell no!

Also, KOTOR 2, the game does well showing that you miss with a blaster if you don't get the right roll, but deliberately firing off target (quite wildly at times! Its like the character doesn't know that aiming is!!) The only problem with this though, it the rogue round will then quite often pass through some other enemies that you wern't fighting at that time, without so much as a scratch on them!

BC2: I kept knifing a sniper in multiplayer and he wouldn't die. He turned around and saw me knife him a couple more times (I'm sure he was amused by it). Then he knifed me and I died.

Plesioth in Monster Hunter... enough said. Hip checks in that game are a tale of woe for any player and Noel's hit boxes in BlazBlue are pretty crazy too, one of the hardest characters to avoid when they trap you, her D is brutal. Other than that I can't think of much else that bothers me in gaming with hit detection.
