When I was a kid I had meningitis.
It was diagnosed extremely quickly and I think it was a viral variant, so wasn't anywhere near as deadly as the others.
The lumbar puncture didn't hurt as much as the day it properly hit me and the months at home recovering. Inability to drink without vomiting, extreme weakness and the damned constant neverending headaches pretty much made it unforgettable for the rest of my life.

When I was either five or six I was climbing up the stairs from the basement. I tripped, feeling expected pain I looked at my now scraped up arm. No blood, just a lot of peeled skin. I continued up and to the bathroom, only to see a gash on my chin loaded with blooded seeping from it.

Turns out I had landed chin first on a corner of one of the stairs. These corners also had metal plating on them ... smart fucking idea right? Now this wasn't too bad, not even a scar anymore, and I didn't need stiches. Just seeing all that blood as a kid freaked the hell out of me.

Had a heart attack at age thirty. Though the people around me were far more scared than I was...although I realized that there are still a few things left for me to do before I can honestly say I could die in peace.

Found religion, went back to school, making plans to move back home to Boston where I belong, looking for someone to settle down and have kids with, all those things that in my twenties I kept putting off thinking I would live forever.
Fuck. You've got my sympathies, man. That's only about two years away for me.

On topic: probably my ex pulling a gun on me because I found out she'd been cheating on me? Other than that, recovering from her miscarriage, that took a long fucking time, only to find out years later that she'd lied, and told me she miscarried so she could go after someone else for support in peace.

Fell off my bike when I was nine, got a bad greenstick fracture.

Not only this, but when they were putting wires in my arm they accidentally left one of the wires pushing down on one of my nerves.

So when I woke up....I was in a lot of pain, a lot.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot. This wasn't really traumatic but it was freaky. A few months ago in the middle of a class one of my teachers had a seizure. His mouth started twitching weirdly like a minute before it started. It was pretty creepy.

As far as injuries go, the worst I've had was a compound fracture of my left forearm while playing paintball. It was kinda cool before the shock wore off though, because I found out I could still move my fingers even if the end of my arm was at a 45 degree angle to the rest of it. o_O

As far as trauma goes, my girlfriend was killed in a car accident this past summer, heading back home after we had spent an evening together. Her car hydroplaned and was 'T-boned' by a large truck. I've gotten (a little bit) better as far as dealing with the grief, but it has drastically changed my outlook on the time ahead of me. As it should. I can at least now look back and focus on happy memories when I think of her. And I'm finally moving forward in my life, meeting new people and such. So even though I know there will be bad days ahead, I will always have some amazing ones to look back on. (had to end this on a happy note) :)

I was about 8 when this happened. I was climbing a tree that hung over a creek, and I was about 15 feet up. The branch I was sitting on broke and I fell straight down on a fluffy bed of 10cm's of water and rocks. I couldn't move and felt a gigantic amount of pain pretty much all over my body. My friend ran inside to get someone so I was alone crying for about 2 minutes. I ended up having a concussion and a broken wrist.

Spinal surgery in the 6th grade. Had to recover on Tylonol, because morphine made me throw up for about 20 minutes. Worst week of my life.

Traumatic Experience: My uncle in Trinidad once got kidnapped. Luckily (I can't stress that word enough) the police found him and brought him home before the kidnappers did anything to him. What made it so traumatic was seeing my tough-as-nails grandpa trembling when he heard the news.

Injury: It didn't even happen to me. My mother sliced her hand open on a broken drinking glass she was washing. (EDIT: It broke while she was washing it! She wasn't washing a broken glass! My mistake.) The tendon was hanging out and everything. Any desire I had to be a doctor died that day.

tripped over when i was younger when having a water fight with my freinds have my arm land on the bottom a door frame and then slamed with the water gun (super soaker 1500, 6 litres full) coursing a greenstick fracture. however at the time i didn't know the bone was damaged until a friend fell on it while i was laying on a another friend bed and had it hanging off the bed, then i had to go to the hospital and the second time it hurt like a motherf*cker.

the only cast job i've had.

oh and when i was younger i tried to open my nana's gate, which had a iron drop down lock on it. lift it up couldn't hold it and it hit right on the top of my head on a point. blood was actually squirting out of the top of my head.

Simple one. Got married to the love of my life, shortly after she had to go back to her home country to be with a terminally ill family member, shortly after she was selling herself as a prostitute and denying we'd ever been together.

Painful, yes.

My worst injury is when i tripped up, and ripped my right ear in half on a rough carpentry wall.

its repaired and looms normal now, but yeah, ouch. felt weird to have a flappy ear for awhile ^^

When I was two a table fell on my right big toe, and nearly severed it off. You can still see where it was reattached, and it's slightly shorter then my left one.

I'd... really rather not talk about it in detail.

All I'll say is that my years in school were horrible.

Let's just leave it at that.

Mine was a couple months ago.

I had a really red, sore spot on the inside of my leg, to the point where walking hurt when my pants rubbed against it. I couldn't see any cuts or bites anywhere, so I stuck a bandaid on it and hoped for the best.

About a week later I went to change the bandaid to find a huge hole in my leg, with blood and pus pouring out. I kinda went into shock.

My roommate dragged me to the ER, where they told me it was likely a spider bite and talked about possibly having to remove my leg due to blood poisoning. Thankfully it didn't come to that, but I got loaded up with drugs and had to go through a painful wound dressing ritual every 6 hours for 4 weeks.

Just to put the icing on the cake, when I told the guy I was dating about the ordeal of removing the bandaid he made a comment along the lines of "Let me guess, blood and spiderlings poured out of your leg?" I couldn't sleep for a week because that mental image would haunt me every time I closed my eyes. And I still become a gibbering little mess every time I see a spider.

I never have had a broken bone or severe injury, but when I was young, I did have serious health issues related to my stomach and not keeping food down and getting sick a lot, and I almost died. Also, I nearly drowned when I was 10 at a pool gathering, when I went down the "big boy" slide, and couldn't swim, just to fit in and be impressive. Dumbest thing to this date I've ever done.
