Worst injury you never got treatment for?

So right now, I'm sitting here several days after likely breaking my thumb (there's a noticeable black-and-blue spot on the palm of my right hand, and bending my thumb hurts like a *****, so I'm assuming it's broken). I have not seen a doctor about it, haven't gotten any X-rays and I don't really intend to, I've only been to a doctor once in the last 5 years and that was for a broken ankle (which I walked on for a day, stunned the doctor a little because it was a pretty serious injury that caused sharp pain whenever I walked). So I've gotten through a good number of colds and flus on my own, to the point where I don't care if I have one. So, Escapists, what was the worst injury you did not see someone for?

Your thumb could also have soft tissue damage, bruising, spraining, dislocation and a variety of other things, some of which need to be checked (e.g. dislocation for relocation).

OT: My dislocated finger I get, playing football, got kicked in the hand (I'm a keeper) and some guy came over and relocated it. Got some bandages... fixed.

Well I woke up this morning and my entire left shoulder hurt to move. It hasn't stopped so I'm typing one handed right now.

Soft tissue and bruising are both out. Although the skin hurts as well, I can still feel pain in the bone. Spraining is a no-go, it would be gone by now. It's also not dislocated, I know that for sure.

Go see a fucking doctor.

OT: Broke my left arm in 3 places.

EDIT: Oh wait. You said 'that you never got treatment for'. I misunderstood.

Lets see ive broken two toes and three fingers and didnt go to the doctor. Didnt think i needed it. My worst though was a cracked rib but i didnt go to the doctors for a week and a half and they really didnt do anything once i went so that sorta fullfills the requirement.

I had the majority of my skin torn off all at once when I was in 6th grade. Some of it was only down to the last layer. I;d say it was easily over half my entire skin, but maybe less than 75% total.

My dad wouldn't let me go to the hospital. So I'd say that.

I've had 2 unhappy triad knee injuries (tearing of the ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus at once)and a separated shoulder.

I'd highly recommend going to the doctor. Ignoring a broken bone can quickly lead to VERY serious complications.

I might regret asking, but is there a story to this?

On topic, aside from the standard cuts and burns that you can expect from a moderately clumsy person cooking, I haven't had any injuries that I refused to get treatment for. I like to err on the side of caution.

I was at track practice, and the track we were at was nothing but loose gravel and rocks. And 2 sides of it were huge hills. So we had to walk up and down the hill parts, and run the flat parts. When I got to the flat part in one lap, I started to run, and I guess I slipped on the loose rocks or something. I was going so fast, that when I hit the ground, I kept sliding forward for a bit, and rolled over at least once, because my whole back side was cut up too.

I could barely walk when I could actually get up, because my legs knees were all torn up so much. No one wanted to help me though, because I was covered in blood, one of my shoulders was basically gone, my clothes were completely torn up, and so on. So when I finally got to the top of the hill, after who knows how long, the coach just kind wet an extra pair of shorts, and wiped me off a bit until my dad got there. And even though a hospital was literally within walking distance of there, he wouldn't take me to one to get any kind of help. But he's always been a dick anyway, so that's not really a surprise with him.

Dislocated my shoulder once. My friends held me down while one of them relocated it. Hurt like hell too.

Also injured my knee on another occasion, probably cracked the bone. Kinda regretting not getting it checked because I walk with a limp now.

Severe enough flu that I was suspected of having meningitis. Had a spinal tap, found out I was fine. When I got out, I turned it up to 11.

I just posted it earlier in the bike helmet thread.

Imagine a 250 pound slab of person sailing at 30 km/h (about 14 mph) into a fence, dragging his (helmeted) head across the sidewalk.

Badly bruised, nasty headache, only two cuts for some reason, no ripped clothes, bike still functional. I'm completely shaky, but I recover in a few days. Nothing too bad.

Heck, the worst injury I've EVER had and went to a doctor over was a hairline fracture in my foot from falling off a couch.

EDIT: Holy crap, some of you guys are NUTS. Consider moving somewhere where your medical care is tax-funded if it's really a kick in the wallet to get a doctor to look at you. Someone's going to get killed.

A burn on my arm that looked like a 2nd degree burn. I also broke a finger of mine. My teacher taped it the finger next to it and said I was fine. Some nasty cuts on my arms and legs from a near drowning in a Georgia river.

Depends on how bad, if you degloved something, yeah.

OT: I broke a toe once. I cut myself on a rusty pole once, wouldnt go to the docter cuz it was swimming season and ur not supposed to swim with stiches, have a solid white scar on my shoulder now that looks kinda like a slug. Also, I've never been to the doctors for anything short of a fever over 103, or a flu that lasts more than a week and a half. I have several registered nurses in my family, and none of them let me see a doctor unless not going could actually kill me. It says something about the medical profession when people in it refuse to go to the doctors because "doctors kill people" as my mom(one of the nurses) says. She's only half joking when she says it, too.

Slammed my left pinky finger into a metal pole while playing a game of football. Definitely broke it. Didn't do anything about it, other than let it rest, and now it's bent out of shape, although not horribly.
