Lara Croft, a criminal, kills tons of local wildlife, robs graves to finance mansion with butler, totally unlikable, and boobs or looks don´t make up for this.
I only played Legend at it seemed like the developers intentionally set her up as villain protagonist.

Starkiller from Force Unleashed even tho I love star wars to death
Yeah, he never seemed to develope through the entire game. He was the same when we met him and the same when he died.
I also love Star Wars.

No its being lazy, I much prefer dialouge between yourelf and characters, I cna understand with Oblivion and Fallout 3 but aside from games like that it just feels lazy to me.
Besides the fact that Half-Life is after all an FPS and therefore not really mainlining on in depth dialogue. The dialogue from the other characters in the game was more than enough for me anyway.

As for the topic, I'm afraid I can't think of anything right now that can match that odd alien thing in his swimming shorts and inflatable ring. Apart from maybe Greendog. Oddly, the alien looks somewhat like Greendog's mutant brother...

Gordon Freeman. Yes I said it. Now quote me and tell me who wrong I am.
The only thing wrong is your spelling AH-HAH! Seriously though, I actually like it how he's mute, becuase then you kind of just insert what you would say-ish.

You mean Tinkle from Zelda? Yeah, what a closet gay.

The main character from FFXII (Vaan) contributed nothing and was useless.
Wrong. He was a catalyst for the rest of the characters.
Why would you say that guy was wrong and then post the "catalyst" thing? By catalyst I assume you mean that you had no choice other than to play as this moody, Aladdin reject. Because he wasnt really a catalyst at all other than you had to play the gamein order to play the other characters... but in that sense my thumbs and eyes were also catalysts and plastic was as well as electricity! And please dont say that they were (in the loosest sense possible) because you would just be being pedantic. Oh, and the main character I hate the most has got to be... Link, I just HATE him soooo much.

The whole cast of FF XII. They could all have died and I wouldn't have felt a thing. Except maybe a bit of schadenfreude.

And Yuna in FF X and Elena from Grandia 2; both stereotypes and really, really annoying.

Oh well as much as I think the game is a decent idea "Rush" from Last Remnant is my personal most hated character right now. :p

When it comes to Lara Croft I have to say I have never gotten into the games, but I like the character. I've had mixed opinions about the whole treasure hunting thing personally. See, honestly I sort of think when it comes to that kind of thing it SHOULD be "finders keepers", I mean honestly if you've got treasure sitting around, and none of the people in the area can get it, and you show up and recover it, I do not think the treasure should go to those people.

When it comes to characters like Indiana Jones, I'm all for the idea of Museums recovering stuff for themselves. That's fine. But I think Indy takes things to a ridiculous extreme at times, and I also think a key element missing from the concept is that even if he recovered them for a museum, people from the originating country are going to demand the stuff back. Countries demanding the return of "national treasures" recovered from earlier in the century from museums is a big deal.

What's more, part of my attitude is that when this treasure is returned to these poor developing nations, they oftentimes don't put them on display. Nah, they sell them to private collectors for money to buy guns and junk. So really, why not just keep it for yourself if you bother to recover it independant of an organization, and cut out the BS. :p

Indy and Lara are also from two differant time periods. I suppose from Indy's perspective it works out because he CAN turn it over to a museum. Lara doesn't come into the picture until later down the time pipe when countries start (successfully) demanding the return of the same junk Indy would have recovered so they can sell it for money to buy guns, Hummers, and Ruby Studded Rolls Royces.

Basically I just can't bring myself to see Lara as a villain, no matter how Yahtzee rants.

It's sort of like the differance between Tarzan and Alan Quartermain (known to most through Leauge Of Extraordinary Gentlemen). Tarzan is the guy who prevents thieves from robbing the lost cities, killing the rare animals, and poaching in general. Alan Quartermain is the guy who is out to tame toe dark continent, kill those rare animals to mount them on his wall, and find/raid/loot those lost cities. Basically he IS that poacher/bad guy from the Tarzan stories. :p

Both are heroes of the first degree when written properly, but they have entirely differant perspectives on many of the same things, and probably would not agree on anything (except perhaps that some horrible evil demon unleashed on the world needs to be stopped or whatever). Oh well, and they both have native allies and a good relation with them.

Oh man, I forgot about last remnant... Is there something going on between Rush and the prince? Oh! Infinite Undiscovery too... just all of it, why did they stick with that story? And then you fight a boss that seems to just get forced onto you at the end, your fighting a war between countries and then you go after ruler of "bad country" and then a God from the moon beats your ass around until you get pissed off and sell the game.

Actually, I nominate games than have ridiculous difficulty spikes in them and then dont let you go back and train up so you can come back and beat them!!!

I've never actually played the game, but until I downloaded the demo, I thought that Yuri, the protagonist in Tales of Vesperia, was a woman. I know it's not unusual for RPG males to look like females, but this one just blew me away.

Isn't "yuri" a kind of Japanese porn, also? Sheesh.

I would say Bartz from FF5. I'm disapointed of the plot. The story seems a little too cliché and the characters don't seem very interesting.

Really? No way! XD I am not going to check it out... my drive for knowledge makes me want to but the fact that this is a shared PC makes me really, really not want to! :D

I think Baltheir is the only character in that entire game that I liked. Vann wins the unlikable main character award. Coming in close second is the MGS2 version of Raiden.

There we go! I have never met anyone who agreed that Balthier was awesome... or at the very least likable.
