Worst Main Character to a Videogame

I hated her so much.I would have traded her for almost anybody

I know, right? Damn, they couldn't have bothered to even make her interesting, when she had HER OWN GAME

The female Shepard in Mass Effect : Her "evil" accent changes schizophrenically between a female Bruce Willis and a posh , british, "i'm a *****" voice. That pretty much made playing evil in Mass Effect crappy..

...What? I loved the female Shepard voice, I hated the male one who talked in an emotionless monotone throughout the game.

Shion Uzuki from Xenosaga. I never missed a chance to kick her to the bench and use characters I didn't actively hate.

Shion Uzuki from Xenosaga Episode 1 had great characterization, even if she fit a lot of tropes in just that one game. In Episode 2, she ditched her Vector uniform in favor of more casual wear, here we see her evolve into.....

..... A total ***** (she lashes out at pretty much everyone) in Episode 3 (Don't worry, she gets better when she finally confronts her demons).

Ahh, so a character who has one of the most miserable lives ever and quite literally has god like people out to make sure she is miserable should stay nice and well balanced throughout the entire story? I'm pretty sure 99% of the people in existence would have gone postal at some point in her life so I have a hard time hating her for not being Mary Poppins. Besides, most of the people she lashed out at deserved it anyway.

Unless you're talking about that god damn awful spin off game, Tingle's magical ruppee land or whatever it was. I'll give you that.

Didnt really like "Faith" from Mirrors Edge. By all means, I loved the game, but I felt the urge to slap her every time she opened her mouth in-game (maybe a slight exaggeration there, but she was annoying, both in terms of voice acting, and dialog).

I had the exact same reaction. For some reason I just kept thinking about the families of the security guards and cops that she is routinely kicking in the face and elbowing in the nuts. The dialogue was terrible too. She was very unlikable.


As for my own contribution, I think that Tidus and Yuna were both pretty terrible characters.

Gordon Freeman is a blank slate to project the player onto - how can you find a blank slate to be the worst main character in a videogame? He might be blank, but at least that's inoffensive compared to the tons of main characters that are actively irritating in their personality and voice acting (chick from x-blades, more jRPG leads than you can care to name).

He is not a main character, he is you.

In order to make you feel more "in the game" Valve has given him no dialogue or personality. What you get out of the game is not filtered through the characters personality, opinions, or thoughts. It is just you, and makes it a very unique experience.

Owned. Naruto is a bad character too.
