Worst Main Character to a Videogame

Well, he had to get the information himself didn't he? Its not like it was right infront of him
It was only when he started killing the more important targets he started to catch on...

Squall's arc wasn't that bad, viewed from a distance. Following at as it goes, most people are going to just give up on him when he breaks down and becomes a love-struck fool for completely baffling reasons. Kind of like how it was hard to keep liking Cloud when he retroactively turned into gothy dork in his cameos and expanded story roles.

I actually didn't like Vaan, Tidus, Zidane or Squall. I dunno, I guess all of them rubbed me the wrong way. I won't say Cloud was fantastic either, but the last Final Fantasy main charac I actually liked was Terra (although its open to debate if she IS the game's main charac, seeing that Celes takes the helm halfway through. I like her too, btw)

I dunno, I remember liking all these people before, but on second playthroughs now that I'm a bit older, something about all their character developments felt forced.

Could be just me though.

But the winner for the 'Worst Video Game Main Character' goes to none other than Marche, from Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced. Why? Because he wakes up in a Final Fantasy-esque world, and what does he do? HE WANTS TO RETURN TO REALITY, and the only way to do that is to basically traumatize one of his friends.

Marche, you win my mega-douche award, because I didn't think that it was possible to find a video game character who was a bigger prick than Sora...

Actually I'm surprised you call Tingle Gay when Vaan is an ultra-pretty girl-boy wearing what seems to be a costume conceived for the porno version of "Aladdin".

People criticize the outfits they put female characters into which are unsuited for the enviroment they are in. Now due to Vaan we can show off that costume as a counter example the dude should have been a mess of peeling lobster red skin, and sun burn.

I mean both are gay, but Vaan is asking for it and avoids a criticism? He's probably Tingle's boyfriend. Forbidden gay love accross consoles and game companies...

On a more serious note, for bad video game protaganists there are so many it's hard to pick. Truthfully things like "Kirby" turn me off to their games, even if the games are apparently good. I think cutesy characters like that are why so many people go wrong trying to make "so cute, it's cool" characters.

To find the worst you'd probably have to start digging through the bargain bins of failed games from 10 years ago.

While not a protaganist I personally consider Quina to be the "worst video game character of all time" though she is not a protaganist so can escape this I believe.

The Burger King going into video games (the ones they were giving away as a BK promotions) probably deserves some kind of honorable mention.

I don't see Vaan as the main character. He has almost nothing to do with anything that happens in FF XII. The main characters for me are Ashe and Baltier. Vaan is just a random kid who takes the role of the hero.

I have to agree... although Vann is a hero? =/

sorry, I'm searching high and low on my posts, but I can't see anywhere where I said I thought Vaan wasn't gay. As far as I'm aware, my arguement was that Vaan wasn't a pointless character in FFXII.
