Share your story, what's sucked the worst? Barely lost in the battlegrounds due to lag? 0-50-0 K/D/S, maybe? Or did you smack your beloved's head with the controller, ruining both relationship and controller?

Really, what's the worst that's happened, and the worst that could potentially happen?

For me it's saving when I shouldn't, and having to replay several hours. Followed by a blackout before I'd saved.

(Oh right... Too soon for a thread after the last one 3 months ago? Hmm... No.)

The second time they kill your character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Counting the three times they shoot/kill you in Call of Duty 4, it's starting to get a little repetitive by that point and has lost a lot of its impact.

Losing a lvl 80 barbarian in diablo2 hardcore mode in a duel.
Losing a lot of characters in diablo2 hardcore mode due to lag.
K/D ratio falling under 1 because i was having a off day on CoD black ops
Corrupting a save file of legend of dragoon after 30 hours due to lost of electricity ( why did it have to happen while i was saving )
Wasting 30 hours of my life playing/finish sakura wars: so long my love ( damn me and my need to finish games i buy)
Buying metroid other M
Dad giving away most of our snes games

Etc... Etc... The life of a gamer

Edit: the worst thing that could happen now is my xbox getting a RRoD. It's an old xbox so it could happen at any time.

I do remember only using one save file in NOX. (not that anyone heard of that game anyway)
After maybe 2-3 hours of play I loaded the old one instead of saving onto it by mistake.
Since that day I now use 3 or more save for each game character.

I also dropped my Gameboy and Gamecube from really high up, but since nintendo made them
they didnt get a scratch.

Explain please....

OT: Most likely, anything related to Mass Effect shitty auto-save system, or the many crashes/freezes that occurred during New Vegas.

Picture the scene.

Your walking through the DC wasteland listening to three dog say how awesome you are.
You turn around and see a deathclaw within three feet of you. time slows down as you realise you haven't saved in any form for three hours and your only level five.
two seconds later you ragdollise on the big guys claws.

Bollocks.

Loading up Ninja Gaiden Black to discover that all my data, including the completely unlocked mission tree, were corrupted.

I don't know if I still have it in me to unlock all those missions again...

Quick search of the forum, have yet to find a good rule of thumb for if to post in an earlier thread or create a new one based on the age of the last thread. One thing that sometimes bothers me is two similar threads, so I try to avoid this, but things like these are bound to be repeated sooner or later.

I remember NOX. Decent game, though I don't remember much of it, other than that it had a good spell management system for its time.

OT: I would have to say that my worst moment came in college. After I'd put in 14 hours on the only Oblivion character I ever liked and stuck with, I booted up the game to find no save file with my character's name on it. But TWO with my roommate's character's name on it. I was displeased.

So I too became a believer in multiple save files.

You just died 5 minutes away from Liara, go back to when you first landed on the planet...

Or, "I just finished after an hour of microscopic changes, making my character's face perfect. Just need to check the facial structure... *mis-click and hit preset faces* ...*cries*"

Time always slows down just long enough for us realise the lack of saving, we should learn to harness this power.

Yesterday I thought I'd go back and run around my 40 hour save of Saints Row 2, finish a few bits off before The Third comes out. Don't think I've played it on my computer since I reinstalled windows, but whatever. Log in to Steam, put it on, click Continue.
"There are no save files, would you like to start a new game?"

Actually that was much less bad than when my gamecube memory card with my save of Ocarina got knocked off the table into the bin.

I can't think of any bad ones. Maybe when i accidentally my Timsplitters 2 save file and it reset EVERYTHING, my brother and i spent the entire christmas break beating the game on every difficulty after that. But, most recently. My cousin Jesse and I were on a trade server and i accidentally traded a Tomislav and an Enforcer thinking i had extras, only to realize i traded the extras away already.

Feels bad man

I'd say the worst moment in gaming I've had of late is when I came to realize that Pokemon Crystal was the best in the series, and yet...I had already sold it to Gamestop years earlier.../sadface

Battlestations Midway:

Was playing online and hosting a 3 on 3 at Battle of the Philippines. I'm playing on the Japanese side with control of an airfield and an aircraft carrier.

Game starts and almost instantly I hear "Pumps are overwhelmed sir, we're sinking!" (in Japanese of course). I open up my tac map and come to find my two teammates both pulled along side my carrier and gave her a friendly fire torpedo broadside and sunk it before I knew what was going on. After that, they started duking it our with destroyers they had in their control. By the time I opened up the menu to kick them, they had sunk our only carrier, 1 of my side's 4 destroyers, our only submarine, and now all I was left with was 3 squadrons of zeros defending an airfield.

I don't know how I did it, and I don't know why, but I won. Somehow with 3 squadrons of fighters (and later dive bombers using only their machine guns), 2 and a half function destroyers, I managed to completely swat every enemy strike plane out of the sky (around 180 in total, sink their destroyers, their carriers and their submarine.

Most recently, fallout 3, spent ages treking across the map then wandered into the deathclaw place by accident, had to trek all the way back across the map, but it taught me to save, a lot.

My biggest one, i cant remember the game, but id just spent like an hour slogging through the level, id barely made it to the end and was on no health, random guy pops up and kills me. Actually the reason i dont rememebr the game is cause i sold it not too long afterwards.
