Nim's FUCKING Island.

What's worse is that it's supposed to be a good family movie.
It does this by being completely ridiculous.

Unfortunately I can't say it was The Happening, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Planet of the Apes remake or How to Lose a Guy in 10 days (this one comes very close, but it was mostly bad not because of the movie but because I was a 5th wheel and my friends' girlfriends' stubbornness to see this made me miss my chance to get into Shanghai Knights without missing the beginning)

No, the worst movie I paid money to see was "Say it isn't so". Okay, granted it was a package deal (drive-in) and Dr. Dolittle2 was funny enough at the time to make up for it. But man, this thing was awful.

Timeline. Wasn't horrible, 'cause I usually research movies before I go to see them.
Then it wasn't the Worst movie you've seen in theatres now was it?
Wellllll.... Actually it was. Not the worst movie I've seen, but definitely the worst I've seen in theatres! (and it was pretty bad)

The Spirit.

Oh wait-- I almost forgot about Eragon. Shitty cinematography, cinderblock-grade acting, a drivel of a script adapted from an original work which barely passed the border of acceptable, and the guy from The Chronicles of Narnia. I don't know what it is about that guy, but I can't enjoy any film he's in.

Oh, and Saphira had feathers.

A DRAGON.

WITH FEATHERS.
What's weird about a mythical fictional firebreathing flying [HEADING=1]lizard creature[/HEADING] having feathers?
I do so hope that was subtle sarcasm on your part...

Well, I could except a feathered dragon if Saphira were Quetzalcoatl from Aztec mythology. However, she is most clearly NOT...

Oh-- that's what he was supposed to be. I always thought I was looking at an anthropamorphized drawing of the sun...

The funniest part about the whole affair was that they changed the wing design to look like the angel's in X-men 3. You remember-- that kid with the wings who was in the film for about ten seconds.

Mediocrity follows itself, I presume.

Eragon. It wasn't that bad (I don't go to theatres a lot), but it sure was Cliché-y. It's a little like Star Wars' story in a LotR setting.

Okay, I'm going to list the things in the story that resemble the things of Star Wars' story.

SPOILER WARNING:

-The land is ruled by the evil king Galbatorix.

-Eragon is a farmboy who is to become a dragon rider. They were "the keeper's of peace" who vanished some time ago (coughjedicough)

-In the village there is an older man, Brom, who is later to be revealed as a dragon rider (even though it's easy to guess).

-After his Uncle is killed by the minions of the evil king of the land (Damn, Eragon sees his house and rides there even though Brom shouts something like "don't go there, it's dangerous"), he leaves the village with Brom to kill the evil king. First the try to find a rebel base.

-On the journey Brom teaches Eragon to fight and use magic (obi wancough cough cough)

-They go in a fortress of the enemy to save a woman. There Brom sacrfices himself to save Eragons life (though he dies later in his wounds).

-They find the Rebel base, and of course Galbatorix' army has followed them. Then comes a big fight (which doesn't really resemble the Death Star figh very much) which the good guys of course wins and the film ends.

SPOILERS END

Huh, that was much.
LOL, If you read the book, you would expect that, but the movie STILL managed to butcher the book, which despite it's many flaws I still enjoyed.
The book butchered literature. I don't care how old the kid was who wrote it. I've read fan fiction that was more entertaining than that Star Wars knock off.
It was bad, but saying it butchered literature is a bit harsh. I've read worse.

That was kind of the point of the original movie too. I was rooting for the Aliens actually.
"I want to talk to your President."

"RAAAARGH! NOOOO! IMPRISON HIM!!!!!"
The first move had more of an anti-war message, mostly due to the fact that it was a product of the atomic age, in which war would be able to annihilate mankind anyway, without the assistance of any alien species. So in that regard, the movie had a more sound message.

But enviromental issues? I mean, the scientific community can't even be certain that global warming is really the result of greenhouse gases coming from industry and vehicles, or of it is volcanic gasses released naturally.

Sure, I know there are some nutcases proclaiming that we have about 50 years or less to "change our enviromental damagin ways" before the world is doomed... But the truth of it is that their cases aren't based on much in the way of solid evidence really. (I mean just consider it, do you really think that the exhaust of vehicles built by human hands could really compare to the thousands of cubic metres of gases expelled from volcanic activity every day? It's like comparing the bite of an ant to a mauling of a grizzly bear)

This of course means that any movie which tries to inspire a message of enviromental issues, will be nothing short of a moral cookie, and not something which really adress a real and tangible threat. Nuclear war is a real and tangible threat, the enviroment going haywire isn't. It's just that simple...

What is the worst film that you watched at the local cinema?

To my dubious honor, I saw "Stealth", a fullblown box office bomb (and I assure you, rightfully so).
Wolverine origins, I wanted to fight someone (that means beat the crap out of or have the crap beaten out of me, it didn't matter which) after watching that piece of shit, at least the pirated copy had no special effects so you could pretend that it was a parody and think "hoho, they're just joking, the real movie will come out sometime".

Very Bad:
The International. (A half hour in I turn to my friend and told him we're not sitting here any longer. We theater-hopped to 'Fired Up' which was a THOUSAND times better.)
That's strange, I loved the International...

It probably doesn't count seeing i watched it at home but You Don't Mess With The Zohan was painfully bad.
I was forced to watch Shrek 3 at the cinema with my family, which almost killed me. My little sister is actually watching it on tv right now, i have to keep reminding myself not to peer over there in case i see some, and I have my trusty Nine Inch Nails turned up to full so i wont hear any of the crappy songs in it...

Pearl Harbour. Twice! I worked in the local one screen cinema so was forced to watch it, and then my friends all went to see it and so I was forced to watch it again.
