and a sore/stiff back from where I had a lumbar puncture this morning. It's like the world's worst hangover without the fun part!

My worst pain was from a lumbar puncture aswell...while the actual procedure didn't hurt (felt kinda like a current running through the needle) but the day afterwards.. they told me to stay lying down but i went for a smoke and got a effusion in my back wich resultet in a lot of pain when i was standing up and the worst headache i had in my entire life.

Falling off my bike, faceplanting the road and smashing my front teeth back so hard they were horizontal in my mouth.

Then having them ripped out ten years later and replaced with implants!

Odd you saying that I was in A&E last night until 4 in the morning throwing up because of constant back/arm spasms through it

Why did you need a lumbar puncture?, my cousin had one of them and he died from the shock, his body didn't like the pain and thought "fuck that", I mean they revived him obviously!.

Jesus H. Cricket - they they use a local anaesthetic on him!? That's very unusual. I had to have one as part of my lymphoma treatment, they put chemotherapy in my spinal canal. I found the procedure unpainful, but the aftermath was horrific!

Id trade that for what ive been through, Ruptured Colon/intestine... Had to have 50% of my colon removed... removing the drainage tubes from me... even on the heaviest painkillers i screamed in pain... not to mention the pain im even now going through with all my stiches ect ect.

OT: My worst pain was when I was recovering from an operation and my painkillers only lasted a few days.

My legs hurt like that for a week before I could walk again.

Well, I have read posts here from women (and men) claiming to have children. Not everyone dies when they reach adulthood, or stops playing games and having fun.

Hmmmm....

Probably the time I walked up and down three flights of stairs with a broken foot because I didn't know I'd broken my foot.

That was amusing, I'm lucky the break didn't dislocate.

When I was about 12-13 I was outside in the garden and ran into a steel watering can. The tip, where the water is poured from was like a spike shape and it went right through my left foot. I was in complete shock and didn't realize how bad it was until I looked down. The worst part was probably having to wait in A&E for 2 hours followed by some strong disinfectant slapped on the wound. Left a fairly cool crescent shaped scar though

Getting impaled isn't fun. Especially when nobody believes you and it ends up getting infected.

I don't trust people as much anymore.

I got my nail slowly peeled out by my newbie doctor who spaced the painkillers as a kid.

I closed my hand in a door and it was mostly on my right ring finger.

I now hate hospitals.

EDIT: Jesus, seeing the rest of you guys I feel like a whiner.

It's all relative. The worst pain you've ever felt is still the worst pain you've ever felt. So it's not like there's a contest going on.

PS a feel sorry for anyone who has had to spend more then a week in hospital! I love reading, so it was alright, but people who don't have my sympathies.

PPS i have nothing against asian doctors, my favorite doctor at the local surgery is asian.

Ugh, no kidding. I've had to spend 4 weeks in the hospital a few times. Like you, I love reading and I had plenty of books to keep me going. But by the third week I was starting to get cabin fever. They wouldn't even let me leave the floor. Even after they had unhooked me from my IVs. >_<

The funny thing is I can't remember it well. I was bit by a dog and got some disease which started rotting my bone marrow. Next thing I remember I was in bed playing with my airplanes.

I was three years old which only aids the memory loss.

When i was a kid me and my dad built a go kart. One day while driving it around i took a jump a little to hard and the nose bit into the ground and the whole damn thing rolled. My back got cut up and burned by the engine as it rolled over me.

Oddly it wasn't painful until My dad caught up to me, he was on a pedal bike. Up till that point i felt completely numb and my vision was totally blurred and i could barely hear a thing. Once i saw my dad it was like i kinda slid back into my body and i could feel the pain.

Sadly my back healed up fine. Even at 11 I was hoping for some cool scars. Alas it was not meant to be.

A long needle plunged into the roof of my mouth scraping the bone. It went on for minutes.

You can not physically hold back the tears during that, they just squeeze out.

The headaches I used to get before I got 2 of my wisdom teeth out. Ibuprofen wouldn't do a whole lot. One of them was coming in on its side, facing the front of my mouth. Now to get the other 2 out before they ruin what my braces fixed...
