Nor did it from Morrowind to oblivion even though oblivion made the combat more streamlined,Daggerfall wasn't that much different either. what's your point? The combat was different somewhere in the franchise?ChupathingyX said:I haven't even played DA2, so I don't know what the combat is like. Combat was one of the weakest aspects of Oblivion, and it seems like it hasn't improved that much.
Other than making a point about it ...You know nothing about this game do you?...You know diddly squat about computers and how the data is managed. GTA4 would've been a far better example other than PS3 exclusive that has a A to B game design. Still, considering the size and the detail (and a very low draw distance), it's very good, in fact, so good that the demo of Skrim on the 360 laggggged. No I'm no that surprised, what gave you that idea?
Also, about the console limitations, have you seen God of War III?
Anyway, you obviously didn't see my comment after my original one where I said that I confused as to why fans were frothing over the graphics.
Fair enough. My reason for asking was just that if shouts had replaced magic, then that would make them the new magic, and bitching about the infinitesimal distinction would be absurd. Now I know better, and I agree, though hardly as childishly and violently ("hung up and shot?" Go fuck yourself (obviously not the person I'm quoting here)), that the guys should have educated themselves at least a bit on the subject matter.ZeroMachine said:Technically, yes. Normal spells use up Magicka (the mana/MP system of TES games), and in Skyrim they can be equipped to each hand. You can either have separate spells on each hand, the same spell on each to give the spell a boost in power, or a weapon/shield in one hand and spell in another. It's new to the series.Bento Box said:I could give a shit less about Skyrim, as I already have my fill of swords-and-sorcery franchises (in which I always end up being an engineer or something anyway), but I am curious: are there two different forms of magic in Skyrim, like "magic spells" and "shouts?" Because if not, then I'd be just as likely to call it magic even if I were intimately familiar with the game - partly because it's the first word that comes to mind and partly for the same reason I order a 'large' frappe at Starbucks.ZeroMachine said:My thoughts exactly. I mean, for fucks sake, people, there's way worse commentary out there. I was expecting them to be ripping the game to pieces while showing awesome gameplay footage. All I got was sub par commentary. No, you know what? It wasn't even sub par. It was descent. It sounded like it was from the point of view of someone that had little-to-no experience with previous Elder Scrolls games, and the community needs some commentary like that. Some of you people need to lighten the fuck up and stop criticizing ever damn thing you see.believer258 said:Well, it certainly wasn't the best commentary I have ever heard, but it wasn't bad. I don't see the big problem here?
In the meantime, does anyone know where I can find an extended version of this footage somewhere? You know, instead of just bits and pieces?
Literally the only issue I saw was them mistaking a Shout for a spell, which isn't that bad of a mistake.
Shouts are another new edition to the series, and far more involved with the lore. They're very specific powers that you gain by killing dragons and learning the parts of each Shout. But, when it comes right down to it, it's just a very powerful form of spell that has a long cooldown rather than using up Magicka.
Considering the freeze Shout seen in the video was just announced, it isn't to difficult to assume that they simply mistook it for a normal spell, as spells like that existed in previous titles in the series.
Long story short- it's people bitching about semantics and/or a simple mistake.
When did I say the combat was better in Morrowind or Daggerfall?mad825 said:Nor did it from Morrowind to oblivion even though oblivion made the combat more streamlined,Daggerfall wasn't that much different either. what's your point? The combat was different somewhere in the franchise?
I will love DA2 based on what? You have no idea what kind of games I like, and like I said before I haven't played DA2, so I'm not using it as an example of a game with good combat in an RPG.Other than making a point about it ...You know nothing about this game do you?...You know diddly squat about computers and how the data is managed. A personal recommendation; you will love DA2
