When I was halfway through S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and
the game crashed in between loading areas. Then I loaded the save file, and It kept crashing at that point. Yep. Me pissed, game ruined.

(eventually went back and played through again, creating ALOT more saves, but my point stands)

Red Ring of Death!

But slightly more on topic: Indigo Prophecy / Fahrenheit. What started as a seriously tense and disturbing thriller turned into a pants-on-head retarded farce of supernatural proportions. It's actually made me too cynical to play Heavy Rain, despite the good reviews.

I've also just suddenly remembered the end of Medal of Honor: Rising Sun.

'Right! Let's go find your brother!'...cue End credits and cancelled sequel. Um...

Oh God! Now they're all flooding back to me! What about the sudden complete ass-tarded-ness of the end of the cel-shaded Prince of Persia? I'm starting to think that everything I've ever seen or played had a sudden and crushing disappointment...

And lets not forget Raiden!

I'd say ACII also but for different reasons. The ending was horrible because it was the most generic thing they could have done. And they explained everything in such a rational way that it became really boring. That's why the Reapers in ME work, because they don't explain them and I hope to god they keep it that way (though they came rather close to ruining it in ME2).

PS I LOVED 'Knowing'. It was a bit 'meh' up until the very end and then, well, THAT happened and I was blown away, I mean, it was so random but at the same time you would never have seein it coming! I wish more movies would have such over the top, out of the bliue endings.
for the knowing i did really like the film but like i say when they said oh its space angels i went what is this shit and was really pissed off by the fact that it ruined it.
Yeah, the less than subtle religious imagery was a bit hard to swallow.
I found it really stupid though as a movie. Why give them the powers in the first place? Usually they do that so they have a chance to stop whatever is supposed to happen at the end of the movie. But there was no point to it in this, they just had the ability for no reason and then the world ends anyway.

And in defence of ACII:

Although yes the revelation that it's all about angels/aliens is nonsense, I felt the ending was saved by the emotion I felt at realising Ezio's purpose in life, all the shit he's been through, is to simply be a medium for a message to Desmond, a message he, Ezio, can barely understand. He's made it all this way and the damn god/angel/thing isn't even LOOKING at him. Crushing, and well conceived, I thought, and saved the balls-out crazy Adam&Eve Apocalypse stuff from ruining the game for me.

Indigo Prophecy was progressing SO WELL... but I finally snapped during the whole "fighting matrix style in mid-air" sequence. I finished it, and hold the first half of the game as an excellent example of how to do story-driven games... the second half is what story games should never do.
No. The fact Lucas lives as a Zombie and impregnates that woman. Then he runs off to fight an ancient mystical cult and a rouge AI programme with a army of homeless people.

It was just so stupid.
At that point, I was laughing. Hard.

MGS 3, the first MGS game I played, and where
the American blonde who the game at first tells you is a secret agent in Russia turns out to be a double agent from China, and she steals what you found, so she can bring it back to the people who kidnapped her at age 6, brought her to China, and tortured her therafter. Come to think about it, if you torture ANYONE in a metal gear game they ALLWAYS end up working for you.

Ruined most of the game for me.

EDIT: I would post something about how every single plot point in heavy rain is completely stupid, but somebody already wrote a six page paper on that already:

Movie: Avatar
The quote "The aliens went back to their dying planet." at the end of the movie was officially when I decided I hate Avatar and think that James Cameron is pretentious.
I agree with you completely.

I guess at the end of Force Unleashed when

They somehow manage to wrangle a sequel out of it even though Starkiller dies, but comes back to life and isn't dead for the second game through some arbitrary nature.......

Can someone help me out with that logic, or have I missed something?
in response to the spoiler tags:
darth vader had him cloned... lame i know

on topic, i'd be amazed if the words "aliens", "indiana" and "jones" are not mentioned more than once.

What the... That sounds fucking AWESOME! I'm buying that game right now!

Movie: The moment when "Where the Wild Things Are" became a soul drainingly depressing experience rather than a cute, heartwarming puppet adventure. EVERYONE HAS SUCH INTENSE EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS IN THAT MOVIE.

Game: The moment "Prototype" takes all the whiz-bang kaboom awesome tank banging in the intro and then drops you on your head with a total draining of all your power. It's the only time I've ever experienced what is commonly referred to as a "cock tease" in a video game.

Batman Arkham Asylum

Joker going super. I felt completely cheated.

Assassin's Creed 2

The gap between the chapters that were intended to be DLC. That really pissed me off.

I thought Assassin's Creed 2 had a great ending.

It made sense if you were paying attention, which apparently (and quite dishearteningly) no one was.

i was less bothered by this given the amount of cloning that was occurring during that time period -- although from what i have read/heard, part of the "mystery" of unleashed 2 is, is starkiller a clone or not? and does anyone care?

however i was bothered by this at the end of the game:

even if you killed darth vader to join the emperor, you still died at the end! that was a let down for me as i felt that really opened up and alternate universe for them to explore.

Sudden thing... the Force Unleashed QTEs during the boss fights. They ruined my enjoyment of the cutscenes because I always had to be on the edge in case a QTE came up.

Yes. You forgot that GL loves to rape his own creation.
