Back Stabs and Headshots, it wouden't be so bad, If Valve haden't made it as fucking jarring as possible...

One minute it's idleic slaughter, and the next your character is clutching thy're back in agony as the blood flows from their spine.

Sniper's are just as bad, except they're easier to kill, with thy're soft supple heads, just waiting to be pounded in via Bat, Sovel, Pickaxe, Bottle...etc.

Anyone every played Zombie Panic! Source? It's a source mod where you play as either zombies or survivors and mostly it's about killing each other.

Well it has a special feature: you can push objects as a survivors to create temporary barricades against zombies. In a map called Harvest, the first room has two things: a bookcase placed so it can easily become a good barricade for a doorway, and the doorway which has a nice door, creating two barricades.

It creates a problem: pushing objects sometimes glitches, usually resulting in the objects falling on you and you losing something like 5 of your 100 HP.

But there's a really bad glitch-exploit: if you position the bookcase just right in the doorway and close the door, the bookcase will remain stuck in the door. Touching the bookcase will result in a insta-death, for both zombies and survivors.

So I remember the first time I saw the glitch. Confused, I walked over to see if I could open the door, as survivors were locked out and probably would be over run if they stayed there.

Walk forward touch the bookcase. Suddenly my body flies across the room and I'm dead. From a fracking bookcase.

Rage quit.

I was playing STALKER Clear Sky the other day, that's strike one on the "you're about to die" scale, then I just bought myself a new expensive and hard to find armor, that's strike two, and then I go off the beaten path, that's strike three. So, here I am, walking along, when out of no where I'm caught in an anomaly that I was not told was there by the game, and it's one of those swirly ones too where you spin around and die, and die, sending me back about an hour, where I have to kill a good hundred dogs and fight off two bandit attacks before I got back to where I was.

Brutal Legend...

Those goddamn lightning shooting horseback riders... such a pain in the ass when all you want to do is explore the scenery in peace.

And it was amazing how many cliffs would just appear out of nowhere, especially annoying when you were just in the middle of blasting out 'Children of the Grave'....

Playing Raidou Kuzunoha 2 and fighting White Rider at the new moon. He uses his Luck Roulette and nothing too bad happens, figure as long as I block and heal I'll be fine, then he uses Victory of Fire, I brace for it and it kills me none the less. I just turn my PS2 off and walk away.

Agreed. Getting one down to almost dead just to have it pop up under you and instakills were the worst.

Well, this first one was out of laziness on my part. The novistador death in RE4. God, that just sucked.

Secondly, anytime you get a game over because you are in an escort mission and the person you're escorting dies. Damn AI lookout for yourself.

and just a little peeve, the higher levels in some of the SR2 missions. Looking at you crowd control, escort and drug trafficking

I'm playing Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction again, an actual new game, whereas I usually just play through challenge mode again... and it's harder than I remember! I was fighting Slag, and I had 85/105 health, the camera tilted down a bit because he's so fat... and then BAM! massive hammer (I was close because I was using the pyro blaster), dead... 85 health?!?!

Bad Girl in No More Heros. I thought I had the advantage. After having my brains splattered across every wall I learned different.

One time I was playing Left 4 Dead on No Mercy my team had been beating the other time pretty badly the whole game. It was the finale, my whole team got seperatded by a rather good boomer, hunter, and smoker combo and before I knew it I was the only survivor left. The rescue choper had arrived and I was making my way to escape and when I turn a corner I get pummeld by a tank off the roof plummeting about 50 stories to my death.

In the original Battlefield: Bad Company I was sprinting towards a house with a closed door. I was a good five metres away when I flew through the door in a hail of splinters and died.

I like to think I tripped.

I wouldn't call it "surprise" or "instant death", it's more of an unavoidable death as a cause of extreme stupidity... Drawn over agonizing seconds.

Back in very early 2000s, when I first played Max Payne, I can still remember making this absolutely bad decision more then once. The bullet-time slow jump was such an awesome feature, made even more awesome by the fact that I was like pre-pubescent at the time... So quite a few times, I'd jump into a room full of mooks, through the only door... And end up slow-time diving towards 3 shotgun blasts which killed me most of the time, with no ability to avoid them.

Hahah, I gotta replay ol' Max Payne. I loved that game so much some 9 years ago.

One time on L4D2 we were on the bridge part of The Parish, the first tank picked up a car and knocked all 4 of us down. We had to restart

Well, it was more me giving the insta-death surprise to someone. On L4D2, the start of Parish on Versus mode, right on the jetty. I spawned as a charger and smacked right into the group at the end of the jetty insta-killed 1 of them and had another hanging off the edge. Right after came a load of "LOL" and "WTF"

This has happened quite a few times. Yet to get a double kill though. Chargers FTW!

Hiroshima, Hiroshima, Hiroshima...

Seriously, what about Nagasaki?

They were hit with an Atom bomb as well!

Everyone talks about Hiroshima, but Nagasaki gets nothing.
