Do step-parents count in this? Because my parents are both great to me, if a bit meddling, but my former stepfather...I'll leave it at that until I get an answer.

Well, let's just say being called worthless and an idiot, with a few sprinklings of "fag" on a daily basis for 4 years to the point of verbal abuse, left me with a complex of inadequacy that I've never really gotten over, even though he and my mom divorced 7 years ago after he tried to rape my sister. On a related note, people who say physical abuse is far worse than verbal abuse is...mistaken, to say the least.

My dad cheated on my mom. His girlfriend even came to my mom's funeral. They are now married and want nothing to do with me.

My mom treats me like a 16 year old, even though I'm 21. I have to ASK her to go out with friends, or my fiancee. She completely freaked out that I got engaged. She keeps on calling my fiancee "Princess" just because she does not have a job and is focusing on graduating college with a degree in Chemistry. She says that I bow to my fiancee's every wish. She also is forcing me to pay almost $300 a month for health insurance when I make less than that every two weeks. I cannot stay out past midnight most of the times, 10 on weekdays. I cannot see my fiancee more than 3 times a week. Me and her argued about a week ago and I stormed out and went to my fiancee's. About an hour later she called and said if I didn't come home she would call the police and file a stolen car report (because the title is in my parent's names). She will not transfer the title for my car to me so that way i can sell it and get a new one. She drives by my fiancee's house when I tell her I'm going out to another one of my friends houses to make sure that I'm not over there.
Oh and she goes through my trash to see what reciepts I have for what I've bought, and looks through my room probably on a once a week basis.
She's a psycho controlling *****.
If your an only child & your father has left...im gna have too say "empty nest syndrome" is the cause.

Feck the car off, Just refuse too pay for it and dont use it, Invest in a push bike, Save up & move out. Burn any non-essencial reciepts. Every now & again tell her your going too see your friends at a specific location as far away as you can say, then go somewhere else. Turn off your mobile.

basically throw a major spanner in the works to her control, Show her in every way possible that she CANNOT control you.

I did this with my step-dad. I was waiting for him too hit me so i could get him sent down for assaulting a minor (i was 16 at the time)...he didnt, But he did leave.
My mom and dad are still together. She just has gotten to the point where she can no longer be handled in a reasonable manner. She's went off the deep end. I already do most of those things, but nothing keeps her from going after me all the time.
Thanks for the advice though.

My dad stopped calling me about 12 years ago. I don't hear much from him at all anymore, even on my birthday. He NEVER calls me. Two years ago when I didn't call him on fathers day he complained about it to my brother (whom he talks to all the time).

Fuck you, dad.

when i was young i put a lot of money in a bank account and my parents(well my mom) took quite a lot of it to buy crap for herself.
Same here man, i counted at $800 in it and two years later it was down to $300. I was WTF did you do with my money. Though they deny it i kept my bank records.
Oh god. I'm so glad my parents aren't anything like this. Hell the worst thing they've ever done was lecture me for about half an hour.

dam, my parents are pretty cool compared to yours.
Same here. I should probably enjoy it more.
I gotta agree with you guys here. Although it's really hard to like your parents anyways.

Man, I have awesome parents. Thanks for the reminder.

None of my friends seem to like my Dad though. These are people with parents who are either abusive, non-existent or worse telling me that they wouldn't trade their Dad for mine.

Am I missing something?

((Hi, it's Studd_Jozz here, having ol' Wolfy [He hates when I call him that.] post for me, as I am, ahem, incommunicado at this point. He'll be copying and pasta-ing and I'm the writer, so yeah.))

Well, as Mr. Studdy mentioned, this is for him. His parents threw him out twice. He and his dad got into a couple of fights, {Silly of them to send him to a dojo for martial arts training, and then pick a fight.} his mom got scared, and said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air." I'll stop now.
Anyway, my parents told me no pot till I'm 18. Fuck.

my dad left me when I was 4 and then came out of the closet on his gayness. his partner is a total asshole controlling unmedicated bipolar, so we cant really do anything together because he can instantly turn into ***** mode. the only thing that keeps his partner calm is that they both constantly smoke weed.

its crap like this and other scenarios that made my lose my faith in religion.
