I get that its not exactly something that people would want to think about but what is the worst thing you have ever smelt?

Personally, it was the time I had to collect rent. The people in the house weren't exactly the worlds cleanest people and I smelled what smelt like dog food, liver, onions, and I think alcohol. The smell haunts me to this day.

Oh yeah anyone got a synonym for smell/smelt?

Either alcohol, tobacco smoke, or rabbit urine, All three nearly make me puke.

Dead cat. It had been lying in a driveway for a while and someone had run over it and there was maggots coming out of it. It smelled like bad.

I was once helping to clean chairs at my school before the school year started, but the steam cleaner we were using wasn't working very well. We decided to borrow a wet/dry shop vac from the janitor's closet. When we turned it on an absolutely foul, vomit inducing smell started to emanate from the vacuum. The teacher supervising went to clean it out, and he told us after coming back what was in the vacuum. Somebody had used it to clean up a combination of wet hair, vomit, food, and perhaps feces before the school year ended, but forgot to clean out the vacuum, which had been left in an unventilated closet all summer. It was horrifying.

Well, the very first time I had sex the girl I was losing my virginity to smelled like a mix of jungle, cheese, heavy sweat, and some other unidentifiable one's I don't care to describe. She was quite a pretty girl, but her sex stench is what I'd most remember.

Five month old spoiled honey mustard (it spoils after two weeks, just for reference).

There have been some good ones listed, but I have two that win.

One, that crap that millipedes excrete as a defense mechanism. Seriously, pick one up, then smell your hands. It's horrible.

The second would be rotting flesh. I have chickens, and sometimes one will die of old age under the shed or something. That is a terrible smell.

Burning corpse. Or just rotting corpse. They're both disgusting to have to smell for long periods of time.

Agreed, that stench is awful. Also, spoiled milk.

I tried to smelt iron and mercury, but since mercury is liquid at room temperature, it was difficult.

Yeah can I get a word?
You can, but you'll have to buy a vowel.

OT: The worst thing I've ever smelled in my life was the anestesia they used when I went into surgery when I was, like, 5. Even today when I smell something remotely similar, I shudder.

When a friend asked me to toss a coconut on the beach to him, it turned out that it was really rotten on the inside and I got some of the juice on my hands. The smell alone made me gag and I has to use deodorant like soap to mask the smell. What made it worse was that I touched my mouth before I noticed, I took several minutes of rinsing my mouth with seawater to get the taste out.
