Power outages, they happen from time to time and usually aren't too much of a nuisance, except for having to reset clocks and what not. But has a power outage ever occurred while you where doing something important? What is the worst time you have experienced a power outage.

For me it has to be when I was taking a test online for my AP English Language class at the school's computer lab. What happened was a bird apparently flew into the power station and caused the power to go out for over 3 blocks. What sucked was I was about to submit this test that had taken an hour to complete and since the power went out it got erased so I had to do it over. I made this also because another huge power outage just happened when I was in my 7th period class about an hour ago.

DeadRising 1, Infinite mode, time survived so far: 6 days, 20 hours, 24 minutes... All was going fine, the barricade was holding, and I had plenty of food, and then, black screen. I woke up with only half of my controller in my hand, the other half has yet to be found.

WotLK-era World of Warcraft.

I'm tanking Stratholme. We beat the third boss with about 12 minutes left.

We get up to the ghouls and I receive a power surge, and I can't switch the PC on for the rest of the day. FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU----------

Don't have power outages very often where I live. I think I've only experienced it once since I moved here(3-4 years ago).

I remember it drove me crazy though. When the computer suddenly died and I realised the power was out I, as a clever human being, decided that I'd watch TV until it came back.
It didn't work out very well.

What I take from this is "Before I had any chance of saving, dammit!", which I concur with.

Well they are rare for us too which is why it is odd. It affected at least 4 blocks since it reached my house and I was in school when it first went out. And the last one was caused when a bird flew into the transformer box or something, so I wonder what caused this one.

Here in the UK, if you live nearly anywhere that is not in the deep sticks then you are very unlikely to suffer a power outage. I myself have yet to experience one that was not caused by a)my self blowing up the fuse box b) The mains junction box at the top of the road being switched off for a few hours while it was being repaired.

During the middle of sex where you'd been using the sounds of the TV to cover up the sounds of what YOU are doing so parents don't find out, the power cut prompting your mum to freak out like usual and burst into the bedroom with candles and flashlights...

[sub]...what, that never happened to anyone else?[/sub]

It gets so hot here in the summer that power outages are both rather common and extraordinarily painful.

Where do you live in California? I live in Southern California in Chula Vista and surprisingly we don't have too many outages, even during the summer. But when we get them they are usually really bad.

Going through one right now.

It's so annoying to play PC games and use these forums in candlelight.

The only power outage I can remember from the last ten years, is one that happened in school. Our class had some text/photoshopping assignments to do and the power suddenly went out. It was kind of funny when in an otherwise quite quiet class, the couple dozens computers shut off and the lights go out and everyone started yelling and cursing at the same time. Most of us hadn't saved our work. Nonetheless, we got the next hour or so free, and even when the power got back, the servers where we save our works weren't up so it wasn't exactly the most efficient day.

I live up in Fresno. (Also known as HELL.) We actually have people drop dead from the heat when the power goes off >.>

Not surprising. Chula Vista is by the Mojave so we get Santa Anna winds a lot and it causes wildfires like every year. Which have ironically causes other power outages since the plants are in danger at times. We're still rebuilding from the wild fires we get.

Yeah, my cousins live down by San Diego so I hear all about the fires. At least you guys are close to the cool stuff though, all we've got is Yosemite. And that gets old after the 80th time you've been there.
