I actually didn't mind the Mako, but if you've ever played Metal Arms, there are a few levels in there that are basically Mako training.

For me, I'd say EVERY FRICKIN' VEHICLE IN GRAND THEFT AUTO IV. Seriously, you're not making the game more realistic by making all of the cars handle like the steering was designed by a guy with Tourettes and having you get launched out the window for a fender-bender.

That one level in Crysis where you're piloting the troop transport through a series of tornado while fighting off aliens. Sounds cool, looked amazing, but the controls for that thing were some of the worst I've ever encountered in a game. Worst level by far within an otherwise superb game, absolutely horrible. Could have been so much better too!
Oh god, this. It was by luck I actually killed anything in it.
I dunno about everyone else, but I seemed to be able to fly that thing pretty easily. But yeah I assume you are both talking about the VTOL?

The borderlands runner. I played Mass Effect on the pc so the Mako worked fine.

^this, not to mention that every single car in GTA IV accelerates as if it was made out of depleted uranium.

The vehicles from Crysis.

At one point there's a major tank battle you're supposed to roll through, and it was just painful. Tanks were made of paper, and there were just too much hostile anti-armor to make driving your tank a survivable experience. I just jumped out on the third try and used my suit + random explosives to massacre everything.

And don't get me started on the VTOL. Looked so cool, but flew exactly like a thrown brick. >.<

I don't know why everyone's hating on the HL2 buggy, or the hoverboat, those were easy for me. Using the PC version though, don't know how the console version would handle.

Edit: horses in Oblivion. I can't use my bow or spells on horseback? really? you do realize the main combat role in the middle ages was the mounted warrior? come on, people!
Agreed with the Crysis vehicles. If you're gonna make us drive, at least give vehicles some health. Now it's pretty much if you hit a bumb you'll die.

I don't think the Mako and Warthog drive that bad. The Half Life vehicles didn't bother me THAT much, but the physics were a bit wonky when you hit small rocks and stuff.

I had few troubles with the Mako. Borderland's vehicles are worse, for two reasons:

1. Getting stuck on anything and everything. The Mako never got stuck because the laws of physics didn't affect it.

2. They can take damage. I know, the Mako had health, but seriously-If you ever died in a fight while in the Mako, turn your thumbs in, you're not a gamer anymore.

Have to hand it to Brutal Legend though, the Deuce is my most hated vehicle to drive in games. Ugh.
You haven't played ME on the hardest difficulty have you? Driving at full speed around a corner only to see that one of those big basterds was standing their and killed you in one shot was a recurring annoyance.

On a vehicle that has infinite range on it's cannon, I found fights impossible to lose, even on Insanity.

Technically, those damn gunships in any multiplayer team-based shooter (BF series, FFoW, ETQW) that keeps killing me without an effort. Or any vehicle that owns me, but doesn't let me do the owning.

The MAKO was tolerable. What broke it for me, was that gravity was uniform. Everywhere you went, the car was, as if filled with helium and overcharged with mass effect. I could drive it, but I cringed my nose and grunted, every time this combat machine, housing endless supply of ammo and 3 troops, would go up an almost vertical "glass" wall. I am well aware that the guys in BW weren't aiming for realism, but come ON!

As for the worst vehicle ever... am gonna spice it up, and say "The Lighting" from Hellgate: London. That giant robot thing you have to "guide" in the "Gauntlet" to the final sigil point. Yeah, it had lots of health, but damn if I could "Plow" anything but the bot's health bar.

The Mako from Mass Effect is the worst vehicle to control I've seen in any game.
Followed by the muscle car in Half-Life 2 Episode 2, I found I was tapping fowards rather than holding it so I could maintain control.

The worst vehicle

Me and a friend made a car on forza 2 which was a massive D class Cadillac. We added every engine upgrade and this made it an A class car. The we went on tuning, we set everything to max and painted the car purple and the hubcaps gold.

Basically, it would take ages to get to 60 mph and once it was there it would not accelerate for about 3 seconds and rev massively. Then, the engine kicked in, it took about 1 1/2 seconds to get to 150 mph
So whenever the car went round a corner, it was going at about 150 mph+ and it weighed a ton so it was wide even when it was slow

Hilarious to watch but it was a little bit shit

The Mako is the first to come to mind, but the Deuce in Brutal Legend is by far much, much worse.

Also in the running for worse in-game vehicles are the Warthog (or anything in the Halo games really.), the Power Boat, Buggie, and Camero in Half Life 2 & Half Life 2:Episode 2.
There's no Camaro in any of those games. The buggy in HL2 definitely blew, but the successor in ep 2 (a rebuilt 1969 Dodge Charger, thankyouverymuch) was actually not bad. Cause it could, y'know, steer. Waterboat in HL2 is also a lot of fun once you get the hang of it, but it certainly sucks the first time you take it out. Also I'm gonna have to agree with ForgottenPr0digy on the warthog--that was an excellent vehicle.

My entry for worst vehicle (and yes, I've driven the MAKO all over the galaxy) would have to be the ghost from Halo 1. That thing can't maneuver quickly enough to get anywhere or dodge anything, can't turn fast enough to avoid crashing, and can't take more than two hits before it blows up and takes you down with it. Frakking death trap got me killed so often in the original game that I just started driving a gunnerless warthog instead.

I actually rocked using the MAKO....so maybe I shouldn't drive in real life lol.

The Warthogs in Halo were messed up for me though, and I didn't like the motorcycle in TR:Legand because it was way too easy...I could watch the screen through just peripheral vision and I didnt hit anything and Still managed to kill most of the badguys.

The MAKO had a steering problem but i really enjoyed the rocket booster to jumper over crap. That alone made driving, shooting, and dodging much more easy.

Except when it decided to throw it'self into lava...

ANY vehicle from Earth Defense Force 2017. They were essentially cardboard boxes shaped like vehicles that handled like rocks.
That game was AWESOME! But why would you ever use the vehicles? The guns were far better.
Yes, the guns were amazing. The game was epic. The vehicles? Crap. Have you ever tried to MOVE in one of those mechs? Sure it can shoot bullets, missles, AND fire at the same time... but it takes an hour to move 5 feet and twice as long to do a 180 turn. =P
