Is Just Cause 2 supposed to be bad? Like a cheesy B-movie? If not, it's shameful by modern standards..

Main Guy "They tell me I'm the best"

Leader woman "Oh yes, I bet you are"

Main Guy "I'm gonna make stuff go bang now"

Leader woman "Yes, do that now please it good."

I was playing the demo, and that's how I remember the exchange at the start. I can't play it again because I find the stilted dialogue and wooden delivery (on a par with any of the under-30's in the Star Wars prequels) too embarrassing to watch again. Damn its unskippability.

EDIT: Oh, and I think her name is Bolo as well. That just reminded me of the Gorilla from The Mighty Boosh, which doesn't help anyone's credibility as a freedom fighter. Although, Gorilla/Guerrilla.. I'm going to abandon this train of thought before it drives me mad.
although I agree that Just Cause 2 has the worst voice acting in a game I ever played. I still had fun playing it because of blowing shit up
By the end of that game every time a character said something all i would hear was 'Blow Stuff Up'
never paid much attention to the voice acting because I just wanted to play the game and yes I skip cut scenes as much as possible

Bolo Santosi from Just Cause 2. Hands down. Every word she speaks is an affront to my ears.

But it's not just acting-bad, it's offensively-bad, so bad it's horrible bad.

I'm going to stop before this becomes a train wreck of hate for the character, because i generally like just cause 2.

Your partner from Killzone 2. He's just a cookie cutter, stereotypical, every-synonym-for-cliche, foul-mouthed, brainless, soldier! Then when he gets "downed" he turns into a whiny *****.

The absolute worse voice acting I have ever heard has been from a Japanese Survival Horror game called "siren", which I rented for the PS2 back in the day. The Japanese voices were fine, but for some reason, for the localization they decided to hire cockney british people - and the results were appalling!

It is still to this day, the worst voice acting I have ever personally heard, and for a game released in 2003-2004, it was inexcusable.

I mean, the writing in the game was pretty bad, but the first character you play has such a hilariously bland cockney voice that it just drains the tension out of every single scene.

Starkiller from Force Unleashed. God damn that guy can't voice act for shit. Every time he opens his mouth immersion goes away in a speed of light. I just hope he improved his voice acting skills for Force Unleashed 2 because I can't fuckin' stand that hideous voice acting of his.

Wow.

I thought Sam Witwer was good - along with most of the other voice cast.

Clearly you need to play yourself some Just Cause 2 and Two Worlds.

The beggars in Oblivion. Why do you change voice between sentences? It makes no sense! Grrr
That's not actually the actor's fault. Lines are recorded one at a time with little or no context, so it's the director's job to tell the actors how they fit together and the programmer's job to make sure it happens smoothly. I'm betting Oblivion didn't even have a vocal director, so there you go.

OT, I nominate Mark Meer. He's not actually that bad in comparison to the rest of this thread, but as the MAIN CHARACTER in such an incredibly polished series as Mass Effect, he really stands out.

Urkel as Sonic the Hedgehog
Had to check because I thought that was in a game or something. Turns out it was the old TV show. Worried me there for a moment.
Would I surprise you even more if I told you that Roger Craig Smith(the voice of Ezio in AC2) is becoming the new voice of Sonic, starting with Sonic Colors??

You can kind of hear him here..kind of...

But, back on topic....I would have to agree with Geralt from the Witcher..I liked him at first, but he has no emotion...at all...

And back onto the other topic...I actually prefer the English Dub of anime for the most part...ya, some might be terrible, but most of it is pretty good, as long as it isn't Shonen.(Hellsing, the Gundam series-except for the Seeds, Cowboy Bebop, just to name a few)

And aside from those 2? He did a pretty good job as both JC and Paul, i wouldn't call him the worst.

guess my opinions are pretty much covered here.
I know, I was exaggarating :p He was overall very good, I'll agree. The voice acting in that game never really bothered me, aside from one of the female chars at UNATCO (can't rememeber the name..)

I played Just Cause 2. Their voice actors were bad intentionally. It was funny, not irritating. They wanted to make the story like a B action movie. Rico's voice actor isn't bad though. It's actually pretty good. Starkiller on the other hand fails to deliver any believable emotions. They should have found a better voice actor for the second one.

Another one to add to the list is the guy that voiced Vito Scaletta in Mafia 2. So many great voice actors, and then that guy that plays Vito. No passion put into the character, no emotions, nothing. Words that come out of his mouth are shallow and he doesn't make you care about anything that's going on in his life. I couldn't care less if he lives or dies in the end. It's not completely his fault though. Writers didn't really give him a lot to work with.
Compare him to the stellar work of the guy who voiced Joe Barbaro. Now that dude is the best voice actor on the planet. His every word is so in synch with the character it feels like a movie. Every word that comes out of his mouth is in perfect synch with his movements. Now if they had a voice actor for Vito that was half as good as the guy that voiced Joe, Mafia 2 story would feel a lot better.

Huh, I guess that having your caps lock stuck for the title really does work. Here I am, all because of the title.

OT: Resident Evil has some terrible voice acting.

Samus was a little too monotone for my tastes in Other M.

I really wish they could've kept Jennifer Hale. That would be interesting to hear.

I might have to go with Commander Shepard. Giving those endorsements for those Citadel stores in Mass Effect 2 was cringe worthy. Besides him, I would say a large chunk of the Fallout 3/Oblivion cast. Granted, I love all of these games, but they do have some shaky voice acting in them.
