Has anyone played "Jurasic Park: The Lost world" on Playstation? As human hunter, you start out with a dartgun. A DARTGUN. Not the cool, one shot kind from the movie, nooo we are talking spammy useless dartgun. I only managed to complete the game with another controller where I set the fire button to turbo...

The Needler from the Halo series. It falls into the very small category of weapons marked: "Really cool in theory; totally useless in practice".
Sorry, I could say it's a matter of opinion, but that would be lying. First things first: If my memory not completely escapes me, didn't they make it a one hand weapon in halo three because it was overpowered in Halo 2?
AAND It still was pretty damn effective in Halo 3. I mean, It homes on targets, it explodes, taking of armor and generally causing damage.
Heck, the needler is my effing favourite weapon. And it gives firefights a good taste gay with it's glossy pink :3

any pistol in fallout 3. why bother? just use a rifle or assault rifle. they're inaccurate, do little damage and just a waste of space.
I disagree, the Protectron's Gaze Laser Pistol was like a little laser shotgun (it fired five beams per shot), and the 10mm is useful VERY early in the game. after that it's crap, though.

what about regular assault rifles in Fallout 3? as soon as you find a Chinese Assault Rifle they're pretty much useless.

Any pistol that has infinite ammo. For some reason, developers decide to give a people a gun with infinite ammo so they could have something to fall back on, but then made it suck ass to make the infinite ammo warranted. If you're going to give a person a secondary weapon, make it have infinite ammo if you want, but don't make it take 20 shots to kill someone.
You haven't played Rainbow Six: Vegas.

Any weapon in Halo 3. It takes a full mag to kill anyone.
You're fighting super-soldiers. The magnum can one-shot any unshielded target, apart from the flood, which are freakin ZOMBIES.

Heavy Shotgun in TF2, because what would you rather use, a Minigun or a shotty?
Or a sandvich.

The assault rifle in Halo.. hmm, my bullets seem to be coming out in an almost cone-like arrangement. hmm, point blank shooting didnt kill that elite.. no wonder the humans were losing in the war if they were all armed with those things.
The assault rifle isn't for killing. It's for downing shields. Melee is for killing.

The very last gun that you unlock in COD4 is just bullshit pure and simple.
I was determined to get the red camoflage for it anyway. I grew to love it, after about 140 or so.

Portal Gun. I've tried, but I can't kill anything with it!
Then you're just not trying hard enough!
Absolutely right.

The BB gun in Fallout 3. When I first got out of the vault I had nearly used up my pistol ammo, I got attacked by a blowfly, a blowfly and switched to the BB gun to kill it, I actually think I died once trying to kill it, because trying to hit it was nearly impossible.
I was annoyed about this too. In the vault, as a child, you can kill radroaches with it with a single shot. Outside, it's a whole other story. Wierd.

As for me, I never used the Chinese pistol or the .32 revolver, so I can't judge.

I'm really struggling to think of a weapon from a game I've played that's been totally useless. Really really struggling.

Hunting Rifle in Left 4 Dead.
Absolutely useless on anything other than long range opponents, which you don't get in Left 4 Dead! You might as well just use your pistols. The one game where the unlimited ammo sidearm has a function. Heheh
To add insult to injury, it's always found next to the Assault Rifle and Combat Shotgun. Who can look at that selection and pick it!?

I think Screwattack stated these already but here goes:
The lazer gun in Contra
Needler in Halo 2 (only Halo 2)
Dart Gun in FarCry 2
Pistol after a certain point in BioShock
Heavy Shotgun in TF2, because what would you rather use, a Minigun or a shotty?
The dart gun in FarCry 2? Really?
It's completely silent, and takes out people one hit. The only thing is that it has a smaller clip.

Also, Heavy's minigun does run out of ammo eventually, and shotty you run faster if you need to get away.

The search bar. Everyone thinks it's useless so they don't use it. However I think it's very effective. Still, far to few people use it for it to be considered good.

Seriously, there are a lot of bad weapons in video games. However I think the .32 revolver from Fallout 3 really is the worst. Most of us have had pinch situations in games where we run out of ammo for our big guns and resort to using the pathetically weak guns. However you would never do this with the revolver. Why? If you have ammo for it then you have ammo for the hunting rifle. So you would never have a situation in which you use the revolver unless you didn't have a hunting rifle. However you probably wouldn't be carrying a revolver around either so you would have to get it off a nearby corpse. If that's the case then there's probably another corpse nearby with a better gun on it, most likely a hunting rifle.

Plus the revolver is about as effective as a grape launcher. Less actually. At least you could eat the grape launcher ammo after the battle.

EDIT: I just remembered that Lincoln's Repeat uses .44 ammo, not .32.
The search bar would be a better weapon if it found threads better, though. At least in my experience using it you have to be rather exact in your wording. That's just from what I know, though.

And agreed on the .32. That thing is just a waste of perfectly good hunting rifle ammo.

I have tried using the hunting rifle and don't know why it's in that game, other than maybe atmosphere. It's a first person shooter whose enemies attack by rushing you in large numbers, sniping's not gonna help you there.

Smoke grenades on any game. Especially the Gears of War series.
The first Gears of War's smoke grenade, definitely. The second one's could at least stun a person.

My pick has to be the fishing pole in WoW. You might as well fight unarmed.

The pistols in the Devil May Cry games. It takes like a hundred shots
Dante's Ebony & Ivory and Nero's Blue Rose are meant to be more for setting up certain combos than for actual damage. ( Although Nero's charge shot three is a god send.)

I've beaten Gears of War on hardcore and I didn't even know their were smoke grenades. Tells you something about their usefulness.

Most useless weapons ever would probably be: the pistol in Halo 2 and 3, the flamethrower in Metroid Prime, Nevan in Devil May Cry 3, the magic hands in Sonic Adventure 2.
