Worst Weapon in Gaming

The Needler from the Halo series. It falls into the very small category of weapons marked: "Really cool in theory; totally useless in practice".

I never understood this. Why did everybody find the needler to be useless? I loved it. Yeah it's piss weak if you only shoot a few needles but if you pump a good amount into one target they explode. It's great against elites, plus you can easily find more ammo amongst the many grunt corpses.

I fully agree here. However, a large number of people seem to only play Halo multiplayer, where the needler is pretty useless because everyone else has a goddamn battle rifle and loves to flaunt the fact. I personally love the needler.

The weapon I really can't stand is the plasma pistol from the same series. Its standard fire is about as effective as throwing lit matches at someone, and spamming the mouse button/right trigger to get off a decent fire rate really gets old after a while. The charged shot is pointless, because while it takes the enemy's shields down, it also makes the weapon useless for the next few seconds, which is more than enough time for a shieldless enemy to find cover or just shoot you with a rocket. Finally, there are so many other weapons around, each one better than the plasma pistol, that the thing becomes utterly pointless. It's a useless weapon that serves only as a frustration to those who use it.

There is in fact one situation where the Plasma Pistol is perfect. VIP. People always speak about the vehicle shutting capabilities, but they rarely use them in MP. But when you're the VIP you're suddenly on the defensive, and can't afford to go find power weapons.

With the boost of overshields an overcharged PPshot and melee will kill the first person to attack you, and a mixture of PP and BR will take out anyone, since your shields are high enough to outlast them.

And I've killed frickin' Banshees in that thing. 2 of 'em in one game. One hit a warthog I had disabled seconds before.

Basically... I've had a REALLY good run at VIP lately and just want everybody to know =7P

I'd have to say the Chinese pistol from Fallout 3. It is, by far, the weakest weapon in the pistol category, which is the weakest class of weapon in the game. The only reason for using it would be if you have absolutely no other weapons with ammo/aren't broken.

Seriously, there are a lot of bad weapons in video games. However I think the .32 revolver from Fallout 3 really is the worst. Most of us have had pinch situations in games where we run out of ammo for our big guns and resort to using the pathetically weak guns. However you would never do this with the revolver. Why? If you have ammo for it then you have ammo for the hunting rifle or Lincoln's Repeater, which is arguably one of the best weapons in the game. So you would never have a situation in which you use the revolver unless you didn't have those weapons. However you probably wouldn't be carrying a revolver around either so you would have to get it off a nearby corpse. If that's the case then there's probably another corpse nearby with a better gun on it, most likely a hunting rifle.

Plus the revolver is about as effective as a grape launcher. Less actually. At least you could eat the grape launcher ammo after the battle.

on the other hand I'd have to say that its any pistol (cept Deagle and Race Gun) from MGS4. HOnestly the take like 7 body shots to down someone.

Dart Gun in FarCry 2
Pistol after a certain point in BioShock
Heavy Shotgun in TF2, because what would you rather use, a Minigun or a shotty?

Any pistol that has infinite ammo. For some reason, developers decide to give a people a gun with infinite ammo so they could have something to fall back on, but then made it suck ass to make the infinite ammo warranted. If you're going to give a person a secondary weapon, make it have infinite ammo if you want, but don't make it take 20 shots to kill someone.

ha, I can disprove you, the pistol in serious sam has unlimited ammo and is usefull, great for really long distance shooting

In Fable 1: The goddamned "legendary weapon" the guildmaster has you trekking all over Albion for, collecting those asininely obscure clues that only lead you back to the farm, where you dig up a frying pan with someone's face imprinted on it. It actually does negative damage, and you can't sell it. Thanks, Lionhead!

Actually, once you collect every "clue" it rivals the sword of Aeons, but all the clues need to be followed exactly.

Meteor gun Ratchet and clank 2: It was the upgraded version of a gun you could take pleasure in by spinning around and watching everything around you become metled by lava, the fire stream looked like a man with a damaged prostate taking a bloody piss and anything improving this would be AWESOME RIGHT? WRONG. The meteor gun took all the fun of jumping an spinning around and made it a generic "boom boom boom" gun that shot meteors very slowly and made me feel uncomfortable and sad, this apparantly was how so many people felt that in the third one the upgraded version of the lava gun was altered to be one that freezes people to death instead of burning, which I liked alot.

Because the minigun eats ammo and you can't even walk at full speed with it? The number of times I've run out of ammo during Uber with only the KGB to fall back on because I've had the sandvich as my other item is quite shocking.

Anyway, my vote is for the Blowgun from Little Big Adventure 2. Admittedly I was quite young at the time and I dare say a completely rubbish gamer but the sheer ineffectiveness of that damn gun ruined the game for me.
