Would anyone jump ship (leave their country) if they could?

Honestly, no, I don't want to jump ship from America. I get the benefits of my Dad being in the Air Force for 25 years (USAA insurance, practically-Free Health Care, thank you very much), but America has done good by me and I only see fit to do good by it.

That said, if I had to move somewhere else, I have two good choices:
Italy (the land of my ancestors)
Scandanavia (any of the countries, they're all wonderfully non-corrupt, happy, and are in love with Social Democracy, just like me.)

If there were no financial/language barriers to your moving to another country would you?

My girlfriend and I have pretty much decided on getting the hell out of the US as soon as college is done with...where we'll go? Probably Japan or Canada...
You seriously overestimate how nice Japan is. It's a beautiful country, but in the rural areas (and ofcourse quite a few people in the cities) people are really just racist/xenophobic as all hell... really though, this gentleman has the right idea.

Canada's fairly nice though, but again, if you're just getting out of college, don't expect every country on the planet to want to gobble you up. Really now, that article gets it right.

Living in the USA, I think I would first like to actually travel around the US before going abroad. I love the USA, and we have a BIG country, and there is a lot to see, and I've only visited at most about 8-10 states, and not extensively.

I'll go to other countries again when I'm done exploring here (albeit Japan is stop number 1 right before Britain, and then India.

I'll stay in England. I like it here. The climate suites me, the political "extremes" are fairly mild, the food is just how I like it (including all the many foreign cuisines that we have "Britishafied"), and the Natural History Museum in London is both awesome AND free to get into.

I'd move to Europe if they weren't pulling the "no darkies" card at the moment.
'No Darkies'?
Have no idea what that means.

Anyway, i'd like to move from England to a place which has even less sun.

I kinda want to go to Sweden. Seems like a nice place. Also, I think This [http://www.cracked.com/article_19363_6-reasons-your-plans-to-move-abroad-might-not-work-out.html] article is in order.

Was thinking about it at some points of my life, and it's hardly finances/language that's holding me. It's more of the fact that things aren't exactly all that much better elsewhere. It's just that perception one tends to have that the grass is greener on the other side, but unless you get lucky or have someone to really get you set up you will run into exactly same problems as you have/had in your home country.

I did a lot of travelling across Europe when i was in early 20ties, picked up a few language on the way, lived in about 5-6 different countries for 2-4 months in each, but decided to go back to my silly little Poland in the end. It just ain't worth it unless you are sure you will get so much better position to warrant the trouble of switching countries.

Well, I'm quite comfortable here in Sweden actually. I wouldn't mind traveling and explore the world, but leave Sweden forever? Nope, not a chance.

I can't think of any reason to leave Canada. I would like to move out of southern Ontario since it smells so bad (along with other population density issues), but Canada has all I need. A long vacation in another country would be nice, though. Australia, Japan, France, or Italy maybe?

If I were to leave Canada? Italy, maybe, Sweden or the Scandinavian countries would be my first goal. If I couldn't get there, I'd head straight to Venezuala.

Nope. Everywhere sucks, and I'm used to the way America sucks. Enemy you know and all that jazz.

I plan on traveling a lot, though. I've been to Mexico and Switzerland, but I really want to see more of Europe and go to Australia and New Zealand.

No, I live in the greatest country that's ever existed, America! And I'm sick and tired of people complaining about how greedy/racist this country is! Do you see any other country with this much racial diversity? No! Imo, this is the least racist country!

Also, if you choose Japan, I suggest you research it and it's language and customs EXTENSIVELY before doing so. It can be quite the culture shock. And by this, I mean more than just reading manga and cosplaying as Bleach characters.
This. So hard.

And as for me, I wouldn't. I love the States. Sure, I also love visiting other places, but I'd much rather stay here.
