I'm Irish and I'm a little sick of it.

I would move to Finland if possible (impecable health-care system, best education system in the world, one of the highest standard of living, its nice and cold (i burn like a tomato), Fantastic universities (i work in physics research, so uni=important for fundings etc.) nice people, lovley food.. etc.etc,.)
Only thing stopping me is language & wife's education,, mabey in a few years :)

(nice idea for a thread btw, other posts are real interesting :) )

I think if I can get a PhD in Physics I'll leave England. It's nice and all, but there are plenty of better projects, bigger budgets and healthier salaries to find elsewhere.

No. Here's why. [http://www.cracked.com/article_19363_6-reasons-your-plans-to-move-abroad-might-not-work-out.html]
That's not to say I wouldn't mind vacationing. I'd enjoy going to Europe very much, particularly Italy, England, or France.

If any of the potential 2012 republican Presidential candidates I've seen thus far win, I will claw myself up north to Canada ASAP. Seriously they scare the crap out of me. (US by the way)

Otherwise I'm alright here. Yeah its a crap sac country but at least its MY crap sac country. Would love to travel though.

Your use of parentheses offends me, sir (those things have no place in a post).

Also, Japan isn't bad, but I think I'll leave it to go to the US eventually. While I don't want to live there, a lot of people I know are there, soo... that'd be the main reason. ALmost the sole reason, really.
My God... there really is no winning.

I use parentheses how I like, thank you very much. Besides, I'm not an english major and I'm not trying to impress one. Surely the mere sight of '(' and ')' enclosing a side note is enough to get the point across. I don't care if there is a more 'correct' way to do it. Language for me is more about expression and less about following a set of arbitrary rules.

Australia, Canada, Germany or Finland would be my choices at the moment, but I'd want to visit them before I actually moved.

Even after reading that Cracked article everyone's been posting, I'm still certain that I would like to leave England and moving to somewhere in sunny California. Will also take Florida, Vegas, New York, or any big city really, not too picky.

In a completely unrelated matter, anyone interested in a 21 year old British mail order wife?

..Sorry, I was only joking. You know, since you repeatedly went out of your way to avoid offending anyone. Didn't mean it in the slightest. Honestly, if anyone here is genuinely offended by the sight of parentheses, well, consider me more than a little scared. I figured my own use of them immediately after made it clear enough that I was joking, though.

I wasn't really sure. I originally thought it might have been a joke, but actually knowing people who would call me out on something like this in reality, I reacted haha.

But I could call you a comedic genius for making me fall for my own trap. Well played good sir.

If there were no financial/language barriers to your moving to another country would you?

My girlfriend and I have pretty much decided on getting the hell out of the US as soon as college is done with...where we'll go? Probably Japan or Canada...
You might be suprised at how difficult it is to migrate.
Ir's certainly not as simple as just deciding to go somewhere. And frankly a US college degree means virtually nothing in a lot of countries. (unless its a precursor to further study)

Actually Cracked had an excellent article today (15th Aug) about migrating from the US.

Couldn't leave the US. Tried. Didn't stick. Plus I love my little town. I have moved away several times, but I keep coming back to my little college town.

I would love to escape from Belfast to Helsinki. They sound very "outdoorsy" and from what I hear on the most part is that they tend to be very nice. Quiet but very nice once you get talking to them and considering they're big on their booze, then that's no problem! Also I can see myself getting a hell of a lot more into music production there. Another good point is that they're officially bilingual so I'd probably get away with speaking English in most parts of the country, however, that won't stop me from attempting the Finnish language. It's a nice language to learn, albeit a wee bit tricky at first but I'm getting there.

Only real downside is that apparently Finland isn't a particularly very good place for an aspiring film maker because Finland is so small so it's difficult to get a successful career out of it there and that's what I'm set on getting into. Though Northern Ireland is even smaller but the film industry is growing at the moment. Game of Thrones was even filmed here. I was going to audition but NI Extras told me that I needed swarthy skin. I look like a milk bottle.

Best not to call me an anything genius, really - partly because "anything genius" is a stupid phrase, what sort of person comes up with things like that? - but okay. Glad that's cleared up.

Well whenever I hear anything about stupid political decisions or something along those lines I joke about crossing the border to Canada, probably wouldn't actually do it though.

Oh hell yes. I'd love to leave Australia for somewhere in Europe if I could. Somewhere like Sweden or Finland maybe.
