While i can see why it is upsetting to you personally it really is nothing new, after all take a good look at when Christmas and Easter fall on. This group is just continuing a grand old christian tradition.

"I think it's an activity that doesn't have anything to do with christians..."

Why bother trying to change it... the less religious influence in society the better.

Okay. So let me get on the rant now.

I am a Pagan. And I for one find this to be bullshit.

Halloween is a sacred holiday. Pagan New Year, my friends. And this bullshit is what makes me hate America.

Let me tell you, I'm done defending the intelligence of this country if no one can follow our own Freedom of Religion bit. Fucking hell, I can't even think straight right now in regards to this. Someone, please post a better rant. I don't even have words. There ARE no words....
One religion arguing with another religion, doesn't sound very Paganistic to me. And I am honestly surprised to see that there are still Pagan people out there. Really, I thought that you all died out with the Vikings.
They're more like hippies, they don't even sacrifice animals or people like the real pagans did. Just a fad to rebel against mum and dad
True dat, most Pagan rituals would send you to jail if you partook in them. Like you said, it's more of a hippie thing, a more environmental version of an Emo.

Halloween is a holiday about trick-or-treating and mad amounts of candy. Just because ti has a shared origin does not make it the same thing.

And this bullshit is what makes me hate America.
Yeah, totally pisses me off that we have religious freedom and are not forced to practice Halloween as you see it. I trust, as you hate religious freedom, you will celebrate a traditional Christmas, complete with all the Christianity, rather than simply opting not too or something else equally "bullshit."

Damn us for allowing people the right of self-determination!

Sorry, this isn't about taking Halloween away from "pagans," since the candy companies have owned it since before you were born.

Edit: Had to ad:

I'm done defending the intelligence of this country if no one can follow our own Freedom of Religion bit
Apparently, YOU can't follow freedom of religion, since you seem to be against allowing them the right to practice freely how they want.

Freedom of religion does not mean what you seem to think it does. Do you understand American rights one shred, or are you one of those people who think freedom of speech means you can say what you want and nobody else can say what they want?

You seem to lack an understanding of what "Freedom of Religion" means. That specific part of the US Founding Law basically states that we are all free to practice our religions/what have you in whichever manner that we please, so long as it doesn't violate another person's rights. This "Jesus Ween," bullshit though it may be, is in no way infringing upon ANY of your rights, and ESPECIALLY not your right to practice religion as you choose.

"The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins."
-- Oliver Wendell Holmes

As far as I can tell, no ones' proverbial fist is getting anywhere near your proverbial nose.

Err... so? It doesn't impact on your freedom of religion in the slightest. They're not creating a law that says this must be done and Halloween is banned.

The only people who are going to do it will be Christians anyway.

Don't worry, all Holiday's are slowly commercialized into secularism sooner or later.

All, shall become one, under a phyrexi secular flag.

What do you mean by pagan? Isn't paganism an umbrella term for a bunch of distinct beliefs? Wouldn't halloween then be a holiday for some particular group of people, not necessarily all pagans?

Then again, all religions are equally bs unless they can provide sound evidence for their beliefs. Until you can do that I would say that your rant is just as pointless as this Christian group's take on halloween.

i agree w/george carlin, i worship Joe Pesci. I know he's real.

the only problem i have w/this jesus-ween, is that it involves me in an involuntary way. It might be a 'nicer' way of trying to convert me by giving me something for free, a bible or what have you, but i get tired of attempts to convert me. Its preaching, and it doesn't just involve those who are interested, but those who are not interested as well. It becomes annoying after a while, in the same way that phone calls to get me to switch long distance carriers is annoying.

I'd be just as annoyed by tea-party-ween using halloween to knock on my door and upon answering it trying to extol the virtues of sarah palin to me.

how much you want to bet that on halloween, my 'no solicitors' sign will be ignored because they'll honestly think i didn't mean it to apply to them.

This has nothing to do with Freedom of Religion. In fact, one could argue that you are much closer to infringing on their freedom of religion by saying that they shouldn't celebrate their religion in the way they wish. At least they arn't saying that you shouldn't celebrate Haloween, simply presenting an alternative. But in actuality, neither these Christians nor you are being denied the chance to worship in a way you wish.

What this leaves you with is a group of well intentioned, harmless fools who arn't hurting anyone. This is not a good reason to get all cynical.

And what about every non-christian that uses CHRISTmas? Well, it's pagan to start with but then again, so's Easter.

Yes, but do you expect someone who doesn't understand freedom of religion to understand paganism?
