A whole year? Oh hell, I wouldn't know about that. I love games in all their forms, from sports to videogames. Nothing of the sort... I mean I can last a while with books, comics, TV shows and movies, but a year? That'd be dull. A few weeks is easy enough though.
Nope, not a bloody chance. I'd probably go mad and think I was actually in a GTA game and begin running over people in a golf cart. And the only way I'd stop gaming for a year is if I was put in a mental institution with padded walls and no electrical sockets.
That would be impossible for me to do. Granted I could try since it will force me to try other activity like reading abook, learn how to draw and watch films (I will be doing this alot) however the whole point of playing a game is to escape boredom (and to have fun) which those activities will surely lead to.
Depends highly on what's at stake. Anything less than life or a monstrous fine and I wouldn't be able to stop. Besides, Skyrim's coming out in about 5 months!
Could I last a year without video games? Sure.
I'd still have table top rpgs, card games, board games.
If somehow all those were off limits--
I have music, working out, fencing
Also books, TV, films
i might be able to do it, but i'd be hibernating the whole time. there's no way i'd last even a week if i had to be awake during the day.
actually it sounds like an interesting challenge...
Games detract from who I am when I'm not careful. They prevent me from reading, studying, and drawing. I become, without fail, an uninteresting lump whenever I do decide to fall back into playing them.
