Actually, lemme rephrase my answer some to fit the original question.

Could I go a year without touching ANYTHING game related? Probably not, since quite a lot of my shirts are game related, and I think if I went a year without washing them they'd smell pretty ripe >_>

But yeah, going by the question of could I go a whole year without PLAYING any games. That wouldn't be hard for me at all.

I'm actually a little saddened by some of the answers I'm seeing here to be honest...

I gotta say, if someone forced me to stop playing games for a year, I would probably find something else to do. Like get fit, lose a shedload of weight, read more books etc. I probably don't have the willpower to do a self imposed year long game ban though.

I'd lose my main source of interaction with friends I made whilst living on the other side of the country, but I could do it. I'd definitely put more time into working out.

That being said, I'd definitely need a massive incentive to do it.

Could I still do table-top gaming...?

I would probably be able to do this...Would I still be able to visit gaming forums, just not PLAY them? Could I still watch/read reviews, and keep up on the subject...? Could I watch e-sports...? Could I still listen to game music...? I could still be very involved with the hobby without actually playing games, and I have other hobbies too, so I'd probably just be doing more musical things or focusing more on my job or watching more anime/tv or whatever.

I'm sure I could do it.

nope, I could get use to it for a little while, but then the urge to play again would take over. The boredom would be too much.

I could, I wouldn't do it by choice because I don't want to be that kind of person who always relies on other people for their happiness and tv is mostly crap so I'd probably be spending a lot of time laying around in bed or in the garden reading.

To be honest I probably could. I wouldn't want to and I would probably end up watching a hell of a lot of sci-fi but I probably could.

Depends, do Halo books count? If so, then probably. As long as I have an unending amount of amazing books. Oh and if Vince Flynn continues to write those Mitch Rapp novels, I'll be completely okay.

At this point in my life I only get to play video games during christmas and during the summer between college, work, and internships I can barely sleep let alone play video games.

I actually have gone without games for one and a half years. I was 15ish and was doing really bad at school ever since I was 11. So my dad had enough, blamed the games and told me I couldn't play again until I had awesome grades. Took me more then a year before I was allowed to play again. Hard times.

I gave up games for religious reasons twice this year. It ended up being about 3 months altogether. SoI think that I could make it for a year. I love gaming, but it isn't a drug. It's just my favorite form of entertanment.

Besides, it would give me more time to brush up on my guitar skills. I can almost play van halen effortlessly, but I need to get better!

Well yeah, I think so. But why would I?

I could never play them again, but I have reasons TO play them, and no reasons NOT to play them...

yes i think i could do that but i would be bored for most of that year. unless its only for videogames then i would be fine since the i would go play a sport instead since then i would be distracted.

Due to a busy schedule, over the past year the only gaming I have done is the beginning of Mirror's edge, some flash games, and a bit of Prince of Persia. I probably could have gone the entire year without games, but I have no reason to. I would just waste that time anyway by watching television, so it's not like I would be healthier or get lots of work done without games.
