Yes, but I'd say being desensitized by the internet and desensitized by real life are two entirely different things.

If you want to see how de-sensitized you are, there's an page on the encyclopedia dramatica called offended or something like that. I did not care enough to go looking.
I looked. And laughed.
Congratulations, you laughed at suicide victims. Hope you feel good about yourself.
Your the kind of person who doesn't need to be in this world.

OT: I consider myself aware. I can tell when its appropriate and when its not appropriate. Real life death is something I usually have to grit my teeth to, but since it may become my job one day I have to get use to it.

Not being offended by movies and games is perfectly fine. In fact, it would be ridiculous and offensive if you offended by them. But (like an idiot I quoted) if you can't be moved or wince at real life death, either you are a desensitized moron who spends to much time looking at things he shouldn't, or you experienced a few traumatic events in your time.
How are they suicide VICTIMS? They killed themselves... They wanted to die.
Life long of harassment, bullying, death threats. Seeked help, but no one was ever there for them. No other options. Rarely is Suicide something someone wants to go through with. Mostly it seems to them there is no hope. How old are you now?

No I don't think I'm particularly desensitised but then I consciously avoid anything gross or horrific, so I guess I don't count.

I'm totally de-sensitized but that's mainly due to the fact I live in the world of Equilibrium where both feelings and expression are outlawed and us citizens take daily injections of drugs to suppress our emotions.

I don't think I'm desensitized, but it's situational. If I am in a hospital, things that might phase people doesn't phase me, for instance.

Gruesome-internet videos are generally something I try to go out of my way to avoid, I am a pretty empathic person so it's difficult watching such things for me.

Personally, I think the whole, 'video games desensitize youths,' idea is garbage. I grew up shooting people in the face via sniper rifles, knifing people in the back, and killing copious numbers of animals/enemies in video games, and I still feel empathy.

To a degree, but not to the degree I can look at something like lemon party or the 'Offended' page and just laugh it off.

I can understand that, but there are people who will help, like therapists. And I'm 13, but i don't really see that as important.

I'd say that because of the internet and video games I got desensitized, and then because of anime I got re-sensitized.

Yes, but not because of games, but because I am in the military.

In the CLS (combat lifesaver) course, we were shown a picture which I would like to put up (but I wont because I still have dreams of the Neo badge). The picture was of a soldier who had no face, eyes, or nose, all that was left was his tongue (do not ask me why it did not get blown off with everything else) hanging down . He put a blasting cap in his mouth while doing something and it went off. (PS the soldier lived) It was very bloody.

Another was a safety warning with a hand that was turned to ground beef because he was having difficulty getting a pin out of his 50-cal gun-mount so he use a round of LIVE ammunition and a wrench. Who in their right mind thinks it is a good idea to strike a LIVE round with anything is just plain stupid. It is ammo not a tool, next time get a pin punch or a nail.

I cannot unsee what I just saw... I hate you.
Apologies. I once hung out with some friends and we played a "game" where you have one person go and describe what they are seeing. She made it to the bottom and had a wonderful "meh" tone the whole time. It was more than enough for me though.

Wait.. How did that guy live? (The one with only the tongue) Or was the guy with the blasting cap a different thing?

Images don't disturb me so much, even goatse, what I'm most sensitive to is ideas and implication.

My imagination just runs away with me and I freak myself out, though I hear that's how the best kind of horror is supposed to work.

He got lucky, I guess (he still has massive head trauma, and went through re-constructive surgery). The real question was (the reason for showing us the picture) would we be allowed to establish an airway. The answer is no because of the massive head trauma, the Nasal-pelagic(I do not know if that is the right word) Airway might go into the brain causing more damage. Then they showed an X-ray of what would happen if a doctor put a feeding tube into a person with a skull fracture. It looked like a tube was place where the brain was suppose to be.

Well here I was all worried that the Army had desensitized me. I did not make it more then 1/4 of the page before I closed it.
