Would you cut off a limb to save a stranger?

In that situation I'd doubt that the person would let either of us go anyway and instead try to use my working limbs to find a way to get both of us out.
However if it was an Aquaman type situation I guess i'd have no choice but to do my best to save the person.......... I wouldn't be happy about it though.

I would not cut off a limb for a stranger. Nor would I cut off a limb to save myself. It belongs on my body and I wish to die as a whole being. Being mutilated on purpose is a disgrace.

But surely living minus an arm is better than not living at all, no? Seems just as much of a disgrace to give up life like that, if you get my meaning.

More OT: Providing that the madman would not go back on his deal and kill us both anyway, that I would survive after the incident, and that there's no general trickery and funny business going on, of course I would; but that is a very positive outlook, and one that's not exactly recommended if this were to happen in reality: in which case I would be indescribably more cautious and would likely do nothing, seeing as it makes much more sense for one person to die than two.

That being said, I find that people avoiding saving the other person just because 'they might be a jerk' a little sickening.

No, I mean really. Some might say I have 'loose morals', because I wouldn't care, honestly. But then again, I don't kill people, fuck, I despise killing people, and even shoplifting, which I figure to be one of the least bad crimes.

But cutting off my limb just because some numbfuck wants me to, to save some other stranger's life? Nah, I care about myself too much.

I would not. There's no guarantee that a psychopath with a gun to someones head, saying "cut off your foot or the old man gets it" is going to let me go if I do in fact cut off my foot. I remember my dad telling me something about a scenario like this, I don't remember his exact words, but I can almost feel like he gave me advice that said not to do this.

Maybe it's something that says it could be a trap, or that he's a psychopath, and would just kill us both, but I would not. And anyone who says they would, is lying.

other then that... I'd like to say yes, but if i was put into the situation witha time limit, i'd probably say no out of selfishness. But, if i thought about it and got to know them... maybe i would.
