Would you cut off a limb to save a stranger?

No, for a few reasons. One, is the widely stated "how do I know he won't kill him/us anyways?" argument. And the other, chances are I would die from blood loss anyways. So, if the point is to save a life, it might as well be mine. Besides, who says I can't find a way to save both of us? I definitely couldn't do it missing a limb and bleeding out.

Only if the stranger was someone I knew.

Then I'd definately do it.
How many complete strangers do you know?

OT: No I don't believe I would do that.

Also whats with the people questioning the circumstances? I thought the whole point of a hypothetical situation was that you assume things will go the way outlined as a fact and make a decision based on that. The question is clearly trying to get feedback on whether you value a limb or a complete stranger's life more, not whether or not your trust hypothetical crazy kidnappers putting you in moral dilemmas.
the number of complete strangers I know=(the population of the Earth-1(myself))-(the number of people I know)

I would on two conditions:
1. If it didn't hurt.
And
2. If it absolutely guaranteed both mine and that person's safety.

I'm quite picky about these things.

Hell no.

It wouldn't even be a consideration.

I'd even come to the funeral and if his or her family tried to confront me about it I'd call them hypocrites.

I would, I'm not saying I would enjoy it, but I would. It will definetly suck, but if you live through it the basic question is whether a small fleshy part of you equals the entirety of a human life? The short answer is no, the long answer is nooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

As for gaming, well I'll always have turn based RPG's

You are at least bloody honest about it.

OT: The right thing to do would be to cut of a limb in the situation, but even though I know that dosen't mean I would do it. Given the situation I would likely be extremly hesitant and try to avoid doing it. Some may call me coward or unethical, I call it being honest about what I would do unrelated to what is theoretical right to do.

no way in hell am i going to cut off one of my limbs to save a total stranger on some crazy person's say so.

to do so runs counter to both logic and the deeply embedded sense of self preservation which is crucial to survival

*BOOM HEADSHOT!!!!!* i dont have to cut my limb off and stranger lives ^_^
if i had to cut a limb off, i would choose one of my legs (up to knee) though since you just need a balance to walk

My limb for a stranger? Why would I do t hat to my limbs? Unlike the stranger I am rather attached to my limbs. I've known them all my life. Stranger can go to hell for all I care.
However I would cut off a limb of a stranger to save myself :p

Sad to say but no. It really depends on the situation though. If I had met said stranger a few hours ago and we had bonded I would. No way if I was blindfolded and given this situation with nothing else. I wouldn't expect a stranger to cut off a limb for me. What would get me most is I don't know if they are worth saving. They could be a murder or something. Or a decent person. I don't know. How do I know the werid guy will lets me/us live afterwards? They might tell me something about the stranger, how do I know if it's true. All these wll effect what I do.

To people who say that would kill the weird guy and save everyone I don't think your in the position to do that.

Considering that if you severed one of your extremities at its base you would probably bleed to death anyway, I'm gonna go with No.
