Would I repeat the same experience? Fuck no. In fact, I would fight tooth and nail to avoid it.

Would I go for a second round armed with my current knowledge, experience (ha ha) and muscle? Ehh... possibly.

I'm in 10th grade right now, and I'd say it's been alright so far. I have a good group of friends, good grades, do pretty well in tennis, and steer clear of any drama.
Only a few regrets so far here and there.

Oh boy, I wouldn't call it crap, I had some of the best friends ever and I'm still really good friends with a few of them and keep in touch regualarly with about 15 people in total. I got really lucky with the people I was friends with in school.

I was pretty damn insecure though, and still am (just not quite THAT much). I would love the chance to change a few things from my school years, perhaps the lest 2 years most of all. I got lazy, I got stupid, I was that stereotypical action movie character who provides the comic relief but never gets noticed and who is generally insignificant in the grand scheme of things. I wouldn't mind going back and being a slightly different person.

I'm at uni now though, still only had one girlfriend (and that turned into just friends about 4 months in and a month later it was over, I'm to blame for that, simply because I was always too shy to do anything). But life is definitely looking up.

OH, and if I could change only one thing, I'd bring my friend back, that really made the last year a bullshit one.

After I graduated high school, I didn't think I spent it to badly, but now that I'm almost through college, Forget high school, college is WAY better.

I spent most of high school with a group of artsy people like myself, I still talk to a few of them, so I never really lost anything. I have a feeling if I went back, id try to change things and end up messing it all up worse than it was.

I hear you man, high school sucked. The drama was unbearable, I hardly learned anything, and the food was horrible. I'd never go through that shit again.

I'm actually in my second year of University, I'm bitching in past tense. I am surprised to see so many people with positive experiences though. I wasn't often the subject of abuse or bullying so I didn't have it as bad as some others but I also didn't have any friends and felt completely intellectually and socially isolated from my peers.

Life may get harder after high school, it definitely gets more complex but I would argue that it also becomes more fulfilling. I truly enjoy University, I enjoy every aspect of living on my own and having my own say in the direction my life takes, even if that means that I barely make ends-meat sometimes.

High school is just one of those things I look back on negatively. My high school had a pretty high death rate for its size, a lot of suicides and drunk driving accidents. And most of my close friends became way to involved in drugs, about half dropped out, the others graduated but are dealing now.

Grats on meeting your wife though man, I wish I had been so lucky.
Definitely feel your pain on the losses. Two of my best friends died my senior year. It's a heartbreak but it's a huge part of your life in terms of maturation. Loss, and more importantly, overcoming loss is one of the biggest trials in human development.

I also understand the isolation. I went to school public school in south texas. Try starting a conversation about anything other than drinking, sex, or partying and it's like talking to a wall.

Since I am still in it and am close to graduating (only a year and a half away), would I restart to 7th grade? No. My entire high school experience so far has been crap. My 10th grade year was alright for the most part but 1 year out of 5? Not enough to want to re-do it again.

Probably not, I quit education because I was sick of it...the idea of going through several more years is not at all appealing.

I do miss having an instant social-life though. Back in school we could get a decent football match going at any time. I was a fairly resilient young chap, I got picked on alot, but I was pretty happy apart from having to sit through the lessons.

I do it again but only if I was the person I am now and I kept my memories otherwise I'd probably just make the same mistakes again and hate it again. High school was lonely most of the time for me.

id sooner dip my bits in honey then pelvic thrust into the face of a bear. dont get me wrong, higschool was fun, lots of friends and great memories, a teacher paying us to hunt down another student, playing in the science storage room, causing a small chlorine bomb in science class the usual, but it was such an awkward time, having to put up with people you just couldnt stand day in day out, having to keep track o trends and gossip, it was just too tiring, hell my last year of higschool was great the school was shuting so there was ony the year 11 so i didnt have to put up with new brats, i got to play rugby most of the week, and just wondered round town during lunch, but i would never go back, once was enough and i wouldnt chance it incase it was crap the second time round

p.s quick note, my captcha is horror school, given the thread this highly amused me

High School I would say has helped me start to really the know the person I'm actually going to be as I get older. BUT, fuck no. I'm not doing this again. It's stressful, and I'll have payed my dues. College sounds like a blast.

If I could re-do it all, sure. Hell, I'd repeat kindergarten if I could keep myself from being a stupid little gobshite.

I really miss high school.

Sure it was far more exhausting. Having to wake up extremely early. Feeling ridiculously uncomfortable in just about every social encounter. And that I generally remember it as an unpleasant time.

But it sure beats the extremely uneventful and isolated life I live today.

Yeah, it was a very sobering sort of experience. And maritime Canada is exactly like that in terms of conversation, it made me want to deep fry my own ears just so I wouldn't have to listen to that shallow crap anymore.
