Definitely feel your pain on the losses. Two of my best friends died my senior year. It's a heartbreak but it's a huge part of your life in terms of maturation. Loss, and more importantly, overcoming loss is one of the biggest trials in human development.Dethpixie said:I'm actually in my second year of University, I'm bitching in past tense. I am surprised to see so many people with positive experiences though. I wasn't often the subject of abuse or bullying so I didn't have it as bad as some others but I also didn't have any friends and felt completely intellectually and socially isolated from my peers.
Life may get harder after high school, it definitely gets more complex but I would argue that it also becomes more fulfilling. I truly enjoy University, I enjoy every aspect of living on my own and having my own say in the direction my life takes, even if that means that I barely make ends-meat sometimes.
High school is just one of those things I look back on negatively. My high school had a pretty high death rate for its size, a lot of suicides and drunk driving accidents. And most of my close friends became way to involved in drugs, about half dropped out, the others graduated but are dealing now.
Grats on meeting your wife though man, I wish I had been so lucky.
Yeah, it was a very sobering sort of experience. And maritime Canada is exactly like that in terms of conversation, it made me want to deep fry my own ears just so I wouldn't have to listen to that shallow crap anymore.TermOfEndearment said:Definitely feel your pain on the losses. I also understand the isolation. I went to school public school in south texas. Try starting a conversation about anything other than drinking, sex, or partying and it's like talking to a wall.
