i checked and this thread hasn't been done yet so, if a riot broke out randomly would you (a) join in for some mayhem at the expense of others (b) join the police to try and actively stop it (c) sit back and drink in the pure chaos or (d) be a bystander without any emotions towards the current situation. personally i would take the opportunity to tear it up.

I would probably help the police. I like this neighbourhood a lot and I would fight to keep it this way.

I would probably just take a step back, and if the police asked for my help I'd lend it. I wouldn't really fancy getting involved though.

Sit back, eff being possibly hurt by rioters/police, I'll just find me a nice view and laugh away.

Having nearly been caught up in one, you would do well to avoid the police if at all possible, and if not possible to curl up and hope they ignore you.

You should try making a real contribution to the discussion. It's not only a good idea, it's in the rules you should take a look at.

Depends. Any and all riots created by sports, well, no tears for any broken bones. Something more along the lines of civil rights stuff in the 50's, 60's and 70's however, yay rioters.

Sit back and enjoy the chaos. And film it for Youtube. I'm pretty sure the cops wouldn't appreciate me butting in, and I didn't spend so much time evading arrest at all those protests to be arrested at a riot, so I think I'd just watch peacefully.

Considering the size of this town, I really wouldn't be too concerned. Now if I lived in Vancouver and got stuck in a riot...

I think I'd follow your advice.

To everyone saying this; what do you think they're going to do? Give you a gun?
I wouldn't want to be part of the effort to stop the riot in its tracks... I would probably help by taking pictures of everything that was damaged and/or get pictures of the offenders.

If not that, I would probably be part of the clean up crew.

I'd probably sit back and watch. Tear gas sucks really bad to get in your eyes, man. I'm not risking that.

Where's the option for "getting the hell out of there before you get hurt"? That's what I would do.

I have joined a "riot" before. It didn't get that out of hand but I was a part of it. And I'd do it again given the chance!

What are they rioting against? It all depends on the agenda. If these are Neo-Nazis or extreme anarchists, i'd side with the police (although i doubt i could actually help them). If it's people protesting against totalitarian Big Brother and his "wacky hijinx", then sure, i'd also be rioting.

There are many, many factors at work here.
