Nope. I'd ask for their advice on what to do and what surgeon they trust the most, but I wouldn't have them operate me.
It would be horrible for them if something went wrong.
I'd have my friend pick out a surgeon they trust and think would do the operation well. Because if the shit hits the fan I don't want my friend to feel that it's their fault.
Don't doctors have a rule that says they should never operate on people they know?
It clouds their judgement if they know you, and makes them more nervous.
I don't have any "real" friends,i.e. people who actually hang out with me. It's impossible for me to be in "bad injury, lot of friends,no surgeon" situation.
I'd let my dad, though - he seems fairly competent and well-versed in many things.
If they're a qualified surgeon and willing to do the operation, there's no good reason not to. If they're just goofing around with a knife yelling "I'M A SURGEON LOL", I might be less keen on the idea.
I don't know anybody reliable enough, and even if I did they'd probably just do something to spite me anyway.
Also all of this is primarily on the assumption that I get to know somebody who's a surgeon in the first place, so far I know 1 surgeon, and he's like 80 now and he's one of my parent's freind's dads.
No, not a chance.
Three reasons:
1) The majority of my friends would never be able to become a surgeon/doctor in the first place.
2) Even if one of them did become a surgeon, I'm afraid it would compromise their better judgement.
3) I don't trust any of my friends enough to let them cut me open.
Well as long as the hands going in my head are professional I don't care who does it. Though I hope its not someone who hates me because they'll hold my life in their hands and 'slip' the knife.
