I would be dead faster than Carmine, though I would take some of those bastards out with me! Unless we are fighting Al-Qaeda, than I would be fine, because they can't shoot for shit.

I'd make a poor grunt, due to my light body composition.
HOWEVER, I'd make a good sniper. I'm a decent shot (yes, I'm talking about IRL, not in games) and I always get a little grin of satisfaction when I know I've cleared a path for my teammates to complete an objective.

Yes, and being an active owner and firearm shooter, I'd have the necessary aim. But I doubt anyone can realize the amount of stress a real soldier endures, not showering for days, constant physical tests, being in the most brutal areas in the world, the emotional stress of being very much alone and away from your family, etc.

And no one here can really level with that aspect, unless they have truly experienced it. Also the fact you will see a lot more death than you are used to.

There should be an inverse thread of this for veterans: Would you make a good FPS player?

Are you saying that you're an experiment that happens to farm?

If you take "from Swords to Plowshares" in that sense, then yes.

Without any training, I would be the VERY first one dead. No question. Especially if my "skills" in FPS equaled to training.

Pfffh ... no ...

Give me 50 pounds of gold and safe passage out of a warzone, I'd probably shoot my sargeant in the back and hightail it out of there.

Fuck governments and their petty struggles ... I'm in it for the dough #.#

XD

I'm so gonna use "From Swords to Plowshares" at some point.

In a D&D story I'm helping a friend write... That's gonna be one of the chapter names, I'm sure of it.

If you are inclined, I would very much like to read this story!

"...*that's* Krull the Berserk Barbarian."

"Yes."

"...the one planting corn in the field."

"It's his victory garden."

"That field is too big to be a garden! And why corn?"

"He likes big gardens. Also, he enjoys a balanced diet."

Unquestioning obedience repels me. So no. Still thinking of joining the reserves, for some reason. Probably the lucrative [for a student] pay. And the chance to fire a weapon.

Sure!

Hope you'll like the Nice('cause he follows the Evil Overlord list, and knows that kindness is better than fear) Elven Necromancer and my Kind & Naïve Half-Orc/Orc(not sure which) Cleric.

Nope, I'm weak, cowardly, and never held a gun that didn't shoot water or nerf darts.

I'd make a lousy soldier, but a pretty damn efficient mercenary.

I get particularly disinclined to cooperate and do as instructed when it comes from some kind of officer-type mouthing off and basically threaten to have me thrown in prison for treason/desertion if I don't do exactly as im told and even die trying.

I do however get a lot more motivated and sharp knowing that there's a sizeable payday to look forward to, and that im in a hostile and lousy situation of my own free will rather than being forced into being there because the government tells me to.

I am terrible at both multiplayer and FPS games.

Also I'm a pacifist.

So, uh... you tell me?

If I were to become a soldier I'd promptly disregard everything I've ever done in a game and act like a rational human in actual danger.
