Such a silly question. I'd murder anyone to stay alive. However I would kill my father only if he is the one trying to kill me. Same with my dog.

Depends who. Probably not, though. I wouldn't enjoy life very much with the knowledge that I'd killed someone to stay alive.

Ahahahaaa

What sort of question is that?

I wouldn't even have to think twice about it, they're dead.

What amuses me, is that the people who are so sure about their commitment to kill to preserve their life, in fact never had the experience of holding a loaded weapon, and having a living breathing human being in its sights. Because right then and there it gets pretty real for you. Ask any soldier about their first kill. Ask a policeman who had the experience of eliminating a threat in this extreme way.

We are all really gung ho when it comes to forums and hypothetical questions. In real life (and I am willing to bet cash on this one) most people here would simply crap their pants in this situation. And yes, in all probability, die themselves as a result.

TL;DR - I would probably try to eliminate the original threat to my life and the life of my potential victim. So in this sense of the word, yeah. I would kill to save my life.

Hell, i'd kill you all if it was profitable for me!

No heroic shit, my life is worth infinitely more than yours.

This question strikes me as odd, considering my brother and i had just finished watching Black Hawk Down and asked ourselves this same question, but with a twist. Say you were in a situation where a man rushes you with an assault rifle and you kill him, only to have a boy around ten years old run to his corpse and mourn his loss. He then spots you and picks up his fathers assault rifle proceeding to aim it at you, what would you do?

I would have chosen to kill the boy, since he is now considered a threat and is a target. But dont label me as some ruthless asshole, its for self-preservation, and persiving him as a target would allow me to bear less guilt, but i would still loose countless nights of sleep.

Its these type of what if questions that define a person, it all depends on the details.

the pope (just my preference i have no problem with christians until they shove it down my throat)
i could kill some people i hated but not a random or someone i liked.
The pope is Catholic, mate. There's a difference between Catholicism and Christianity. The most basic being that Christians don't believe the pope is genuine and that if you hear the voice of god you're probably mental.
When wasn't Catholicism part of Christianity? it's a sect/strand from that faith, yes they worship it in other ways but its still the same faith. 2 sides to the same coin.

on the note of the actual question, yes. given any situation or motive i would, i wouldn't like myself and i would take the punishment but i would still kill that person.

I'd kill people for the right amount of money. That should be enough information for you to make the call.

Everyone can have his own answer. But in the end when it comes down to it, your animal instinct for survival will kick in when you realize there's just no other way.

You will kill your wife. Your girlfriend. You mom. Dad. Dog. Anyone to stay alive if it was the only option.
This just isn't right. If there aren't any people at this time that you love enough to choose them over you then that's fine, but these ridiculous "animal instincts" are just wrong. Being in a life or death situation doesn't automatically make you revert into some robotic monster. I know without a doubt there are at least two people I would not murder in order to stay alive.

The "animal instincts" you're talking about just aren't true, especially for humans. I used to have two dogs who were saved as puppies from an abandoned house where their mother starved to death while letting them eat. My uncle jumped on a grenade during the Gulf War, and while he survived with plates in his head, he fully expected to die at the time.

I would absolutely be willing to kill almost anyone to save myself, but NOT certain people. There is no "animal instinct" so powerful that it takes over control of your body and mind. It's called instinct, not automatically triggered uncontrollable behavior.

Christianity is a very general term. All Catholics are Christians. EDIT: double ninja'd I guess

Yes, when it comes down to it, your own life is more important.

As a base rule, No.

Would I kill someone who is trying to kill me, yes.
Would I kill someone in arms against my nation, yes.
Would I kill someone to prevent them killing someone else, yes.
But would I kill an innocent to allow myself to live, FUCK NO! I would rather die than allow an innocent person to take my place.

Lol at all the people who say yes. I mean it's like a big red sticker that says 'I don't value human life'. This is why, should you act on this, you will be removed from society and your genes from the pool. The justice system in motion.

Depends on cost vs. reward just like any other decision. In this case the reward would be my life, but if the cost was insanity due to guilt for the rest of said life, then no. Of course how guilty I would feel would depend on who I had to kill.

You need more information in your post dude. I like the rule that the more effort you put into the first post the more discussion value there is. You put NO effort in and didn't even check to see that this was the millionth thread of this, and that all the others were better and had more thought put into them.

I get where you're coming from, and if you were to really ask me, I'd say I'd kill myself first. But I know how the animal instinct works because i've seen it in action.
THIS IS A AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL HUMANS:

Please stop projecting your warped rejection of your own consciousness on us. We're not responsible for you.

Thank you,
