maaaaaaaaaybee, a name from a character from a game/book whose qualities I wish to imprint onto the next generation. Gordon Freeman is still most likelyXD

If I did this I would have to abandon my plan on calling my first-born Chekhov in hopes that it would become important to him in later life.

I really like Alucard, it sounds like a very regal and refined name, but then again its is still just Dracula backwards, and trying to pitch that idea to a future wife would be harrowing...if she liked the name the conversation would only go like one of these two options...

"Alucrad, I like it...where did you hear that from?"
"errmmm...its dracula backwards"
"then no"

"Alucrad, I like it...where did you hear that from?"
"errmmm...I dont know"
"Oh okay..."

*six months later*
"Say Adam I've just noticed that Alucard is Draculs backwards"
"yeah I know"
"YOU KNEW!"
"well yeah its kinda the re..."
*punched*

I was about to say that "Terra" would make a GREAT girls name, and I could imagine myself naming a daughter that, but then I realised that it sounds a bit too like "Terror" which may get her picked on, but still I think its an awesome name.

Male wise i'd probably go for Auron, FFX babeh!

But honestly non-game wise names, i'd probably name both kids numbers, and just random numbers at that, and perhaps make them wear shirts with their numbers on.

"Number 42, your breakfast is ready" "Number 17, your homework is incomplete"

If I have a son, he gets a strong, manly, short name like Dave or Tom or Rick.
How about Jak? Or maybe John Marston(I don't even like the game that much, but the name always rings for me)? What about Gordon?

All of those names are fairly manly.

I honestly have the same problem. Maybe there are just a lot of nerdy Jen's and Kim's

If it's a normal sounding name, sure.

Won't be naming my kid Sephiroth anytime soon for example.

Jak or Max or Gordon or Christopher.

I tink I'll go with Christopher. It can be posh and classic as in 'Christopher' and short and badass as in 'Chris'.

Now for a girls name...

EDIT: ALYX.

if it was a boy, I would have called him Raziel after my all time favorite character from the Legacy of Kain series and star of Soul Reaver.

I most certainly wouldn't want to burden my child with a silly name, or one that can be confusing. However, I don't care too much for kids teasing him/her. If children want to tease, they will, no matter what you're called. I'll get back to you when I think of a good name.

EDIT: Jak. nice and simple. I'll go brainstorm now.

would that be Anton Chekov, the acclaimed russian short-story writer, or Pavel Chekov, the weapons officer from Star Trek: The Origional Series?

Both are awesome namesakes!
