Sure i would. In fact, i'll name my firstborn Strongbad.

he'll love me for it.
Not many people realize this, but Strong Bad is clearly Chinese or Korean. Y'know, like Kim Jong-Il is the son of Kim Il-Sung? Bad, Sad, and Mad are the brothers. Strong is the family name. Must've been changed by Immigration to Americanize it.

Depends on whether or not it's a hugely obvious name. Sephiroth? No way. Balthier? or Barret, aka something that doesn't scream 'Final Fantasy'!.

I've considered naming my child Thor or Odin. They aren't necessarily game character names, but the characters have appeared in games.
Well, going with "Odin" might be a bit edgy, since he is the god of the gods, war and death. "Thor" - the god of thunder and of disorganised warfare - on the other hand, is a name widely used still, along with variations such as "Thorsten", "Thorvald", "Thorbjørn", "Thorleif", Tore/Tora (male/female). I guess people have been naming their children after the God of Thunder, as they should be associated with strength, and naming children after "Odin" may have been considered direct blasphemy, rather than flattering.

true, but rather ironic, considering Sephirot is the bad guy

or something like that

well, yeah, I really dont know, I havent played a Final Fantasy game since the SNES one that was set in the Medieval time, when the name Final Fantasy actually made sense =P

Sephiroth: yes Father?

Me: O_O uuuuuum you know what forget it?
I think it would be creepier having him talk to his mother...

I'd only name a kid after a game character if it was a regular name as well, since I wouldn't exactly want my kid beat up in school daily

Gordon, obviously... Cortana actually isn't a bad name, and I think Sgt. Major Avery Johnson is a pretty kick-arse name. Maybe Sgt. Major Johnson would be his middle name. Erm... Chell?... Big Daddy, perhaps. And of course, Sephiroth. Gotta be.

Oh, yeah, and Boobyface Shepard of Mass Effect fame. (They shouldn't let me edit my character's names, I abuse it so badly.)

Naming my kid Revan would be awesome, would completely blow his mind if he ended up playing KOTOR without knowing the twist.

For a daughter I think Tali would do, middle name Vas' Normandy.

I reckon naming my son Fagballs would not go over well for a number of reasons...

But seriously, I'd consider Gordon and/or Freeman. Maybe Scout (if anyone asks, I'll say it's a reference to "To Kill A Mockingbird"). Dell Conagher just sounds odd though.

Zelda is a real name, shows up a lot in the early 20th century.

literary examples: it was the name of the antagonist in Ethan Frome by edith wharton
it was also the name of F Scott Fitzgerald's crazy wife who died in a mental asylum accident.

I depends on the character. If he is Italian, I'll name him Mario or Luigi. But if the name doesn't make sense like Cloud or Bowser or something like that, then no.

I proposed naming our hypothetical daughter 'Saria' (in reference to Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) to my girlfriend just to gauge her reaction. Surprisingly, she thought it was a beautiful name. I think it's a legitimately pretty name that's unique enough to be memorable without her getting teased mercilessly.

I want to name my kid something like 'Opium'. Or maybe 'Heroin'.

Perhaps 'Crack Baby'.

Something that would piss off my future 'baby mama'.
